when i lived in colorado I had a great wardrobe of wool skirts. they could be worn from october to april. but then in alabma they were a rarity and I only worose shorter ones occasionally in deep winter ( 2 weeks in january)
So here I am back in winter weather and I have all these great skirts but- argh I hate to admit this - I am no longer a size 8. so I have been slowly altering them whenever they can handle it and this morning I did a brilliant thing. yesterday I finished remaking a red tartan kilt buy having fewer pleasts and using a black wool bias facing for the inner waistband. and tomorrow I may rework a fantastic green kilt- the authentic thing with leather buckles. .That's never going to happen but it's a nice thought. A thought that could hopefully get me into my new pair of jeans.
