2 Types of power competing - "the power of love?"
When people think of power, they ususally think of the more obvious 'dark' variety - I think star wars puts it well, the dark side of the force is quicker to learn and more obvious, but it is not more powerful - or at least it certainly doesn't have absolute power, because otherwise there would be no resistance in anybody's mind - infact the opposing power of commradery and disdain for oppression is powerful enough that the whole planets of jedi fight for it, and even if they were enslaved, they would in mind not be convinced.

Whenever in history there has been rebellion against tryanny, whenever things have gone differently because of the mutual support and friendship people have, whenever people fight in wars to protect their families, that is all driven by a powerful force of care for each other. Even if people don't feel able to physically act on how they feel, the commradery and friendship can be strong. It also doesn't have total power yet, but people are moving towards it all the time when they grow disgust towards oppressive techniques and look for another way, sometimes they just have to know that there is another way...
Commradery/friendship has no leaders and no heirachy, everyone is an equal and ally, at most there is an honour system which people choose themselves. On the other hand, the oppression system works on hierarchy and is maintained by fear, it all unravels if you can take that away and convince them.

Part of this came up because one of the sales people at work described one of my managers (candice) as power hungry (which she seems to be because she excersises that muscle beyond necessary, but has a good heart in other ways - but most of the sales people don't see that). Candy did change her tactics at one point and improved a bit, but the overall motivation appears to be to win people over to get done what she needed - the key thing though was that she started trying to use incentive a little more and win over the mind, that means she must be starting to use the good side rather than suppress it. She will resort to suppressing if she runs out of ideas though, she cares too much for the company for how it treats all of us, but obviously I can't say that because it'll seem hostile, I'll let her grow tired of it herself, and silently we'll all lead by example and maybe inspire through words :)
An interesting article: control power vs persuasive power in business

Star Wars: Contract of Evil
Contract of Evil is a fantastic fan film which goes where Star Wars Episode I failed to go: to the uprising of Darth Maul.  The filmette opens with the traditional Star Wars titles, being the words “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away” followed by the yellow introduction text, which creates a nostalgic feeling for the viewer.
The film then begins on an unknown desolate planet, on a series of rocky cliffs licked by the constant waves of an untamed ocean where a small spaceship lands, and out comes Darth Terrax to seek his targets.  Darth Wroth and Darth Anarcus emerge from their lairs snarling at Terrax as he announces that the secret Brotherhood of Darkness wants them dead, and that their journey to the Dark Side is over.  The three begin to duel and after fierce saber fighting, Darth Terrax’s head gets chopped off by Wroth’s lightsaber.  As Wroth examines Terrax’s remains, Anarcus makes a bold cry.

Is Voldemort True Evil? And Hook vrs Sith Lords

This was a recent comment concerning my Mary-Sue fanfiction.

"Anyone for getting Lord Voldemort in here and showing the author what evil truly is?

On a side note, Hook could totally take down a Sith lord, if you took away the Sith lord's lightsaber. Like Palpatine, or Anakin Skywalker. Hook could take them."

First I would like to say that Voldemort is hardly 'true evil'. Voldemort is afraid of his own death and only craves power.

Now Satan would be too obvious for a comparison and unlike Voldemort is real. Therefore I shall compare Voldemort's evil to that of manga character "Legato" from Trigun.

Legato cares nothing for his life and the life of others, destroying and tormenting all he desires to. Legato cares nothing of power over and among humans for her already can slaughter two whole armies with one shot. In fact one might say Legato cares for nothing. Legato also fears nothing.

Voldemort on the other hand is afraid of death and cares for his own life.

Voldemort, 'true evil' in the literary world? I don't think so. He's nothing more than Hitler was and Hitler can hardly be described as 'true evil'. Bad, yes. Evil, no.

And now concerning the destruction of a Sith. Even robbed of their lightsaber a Sith Lord is not without power. Their knowledge and ability to use the Force grants them safety from People who cannot use the Force. And even against the Jedi a Sith has Darkside lightning. There is no way Captain Hook could take down a Sith with or without a lightsaber.

As much as I like Captain Hook, there is really know way he could match the power of the Darkside.

Sixth grade

Well, here I was in a new school again. Actually it was the school I went to in the first grade but no one remembered me. They put me in Mrs. Williams class. A little old lady that had taught my mother also. She was boring. The kids in her class were boring. I asked to be changed to another class.

They gave me Mrs. Gardner. She was a tiny, petitie lady with a lot of smarts. I remember learning about South America and we even had a foreign exchange student from Argentina. Mrs. Gardner made me think. School was exciting.

Now there was kids with names like Prudence Duncan, Martha Wilkes, Jack Hickle, Ellen Overmoe, Annette Lightell. I had a crush on Jack Hickle. He was really cute, not so smart but cute. I become editor of the school newspaper and I was class president.

I started walking to the Baptist church to be with some of my friends from school. Most of those kids from church went through junior high and high school with me.

I started taking piano lessons again. I had forgot that my grandparents had given me lessons before when I was younger. My sister and I  would go to this old man's house with a grand piano. At first we had a used upright piano. We both played fairly well and we had to play everytime we had company. Papa recorded us playing on the piano so that our relatives in Mississippi could hear us when we went home for visits. Then one day we went shopping for a new piano. I remember this black man playing lots of pianos for us in a used piano store. We finally decided on a beautiful black grand piano for $900 that looked great in front of the huge window in our living room. That was a lot of money in the early 60's.

This was the year I took ice skating lessons but I kept getting bronchitis so we switched to roller skating.
