Summer Accomplishments:
- Completed Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath Of Cortex - 106% special completion

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm quite pleased with myself today.
And the reason being is indeed, that which is highlighted red in the Summer Accomplishments section.
On the whole, I didn't think I could manage to get EVERYTHING. I thought I'd slide by with one or two gems and relics missing.

I especially thought I was going to have relics missing when I didn't even scrape a sapphire on that bastard Gold Rush country and western level.

I certainly didn't think I'd collect all the gems when I was blundering around in the Force Of Nature level wondering where the fuck they'd hidden the last clear gem. I eventually found it, floating above some Nitro crates - but I was in two minds of how to get it.
The answer was indeed, fairly simple - all one had to do was jump over them, and the gem was easily nabbed.
Once again, Dixie was making a very unneeded faff.

Oddly, the completion of Crash Bandicoot: TWoC - it took up the entire sodding day.
Well, from 10AM until 7PM - with the occasional break to go and munch.

For my tea today, I asked nana if she could make egg fried rice.
I'd had a craving for it ever since eating the last packet the other day - then proceeding to see some gadge making it on Come Dine With Me.

Nana did make it for me though - and she made shitloads too.
It was pretty good too. A lot more scrambled eggs than what you'd normally get in the microwave packets.

After I'd eaten it, I sat and watched this random BBC programme on the Watch channel - the top 50 party anthems, or something to that effect.
I was much amused by the big black singer - this random woman with a fucking GIGANTIC mouth. On top of that, she pulled the fucking weirdest faces while she was singing - her eyes popped out, her teeth popped out, her lips popped out - she looked like one of those stress balls with the extending faces.

Nana and I were pissing ourselves. :)

Boyle's Got Talent.

"American Idol" isn't the only launching pad for aspiring singers. Across the pond, "Britain's Got Talent" scored a huge boost in the Buzz after an unassuming contestant gave an amazing performance.

Susan Boyle (remember that name) became a Web phenomenon after singing "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables. The performance brought the audience to its feet and left the judges (including Simon Cowell) either speechless or in tears.

Before going on stage, Ms. Boyle admitted some self-deprecating facts about herself (she's never been kissed and lives alone with her cat, Pebbles). For those reasons and more, audiences were expecting the female William Hung. They were wrong.

Lookups on the sudden star posted huge gains. A no-name just the other day, Ms. Boyle quickly surged into our top 5,000 overall searches. Blogs and gossip rags went wild. The Mirror jumped on the story, reporting that while Ms. Boyle thought she "looked like a garage" on TV, she received a standing ovation when she showed up at her local church.

Other sources write that as a child, Ms. Boyle was the target of bullies because of a disability. But, with her newfound fame, she is getting the last laugh. In fact, she's already meeting with officials from Mr. Cowell's Sony BMG label. This may have been the first you've heard of her, but it certainly won't be the last. You can watch her performance above...

I have seen this now 4 times and have cried each time
AMAZING!!! She's absolutely amazing!!!

MUSICAL FORM (WWW.GRINDMODEC...

Modern music’s D.I.Y. ethic has created a strange situation where there are many artists without knowledge of music itself. Some feel that their ignorance of things such as how to read music has been help, with Timbaland being an obvious example as he once stated that he did not want to learn in case it hurt his way of producing.

But step back a little and you will see that most artists use an at least rudimentary knowledge of music in order to succeed. Prince has had a long and successful career based on his ability to play many instruments and the undoubted insight it has given him. Taking it away a step to DJs and it is a fact that while many may be able to beat-match if the tracks you are mixing are in opposing keys the result will sound like a catfight. A basic knowledge of notation…

Music Industry Sings Military's Praises for Second Year

By Samantha L. Quigley

American Forces Press Service

Nov. 17, 2008 - Just in time for Thanksgiving, 14 musical acts are showing just how thankful they are for what the military does for everyone back home.  Led by John Ondrasik of Five For Fighting, the musicians lent their hit talents to "For the Troops II," a CD featuring 14 hit singles covering the spectrum of musical genres.

The songs are some of the biggest hits yet for the participating artists, but the music is secondary to the CD's message, the performers said.

"At the end of the day, it's really not even about the songs," Ondrasik said. "It's about the gesture of thanks and support and appreciation. I salute all these artists who did that."

Ondrasik started the project last year with the help of the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, TriWest Healthcare Alliance, and the Recording Industry Association of America. That original CD, "For the Troops," was downloaded more than 350,000 times and another 200,000 servicemembers and retirees worldwide received hard copies of the disc.

The sequel was somewhat easier to pull off because they already had channels open to the recording companies, Ondrasik said. On the other hand, he said, he exhausted "some friendship cards" and had to look for different talent.

"This time I wanted a whole new line up of artists, and with the exception of Josh Groban, who's on here again just because the military wives love Josh, everybody's new," Ondrasik added. "So, I didn't have those relationships. We just started reaching out to anybody and everybody."

That method netted the participation of groups like 3 Doors Down, Good Charlotte, Daughtry, and Maroon 5. Individual musicians who lent their crooning to the project include Gretchen Wilson, Jude, Joe Perry, Keith Urban, Alan Jackson and Trace Adkins. The late Isaac Hayes also gave a song to the project before he passed away.

"We have a Roy Orbison [song], which is really cool," Ondrasik said. "Roy's wife, Barbara, gave us a song.

"Roy Orbison adds a certain stature to this CD," he added. "We've got a legend of legends on here."

As long as he receives positive feedback from the troops, Ondrasik said, he's more than willing to keep the project going in the future, though there may be a twist to "For the Troops III," he hinted. Regardless of what's on this CD or the next, it all boils down to one thing for Ondrasik.

"We can't lose sight of what's going on," he said. "We can't lose sight of who protects us, and I think, now more than ever, we need to keep the troops in our hearts and our minds."

A complete list of song titles is available on www.cdforthetroops.com. The tunes will be available for those with valid military identification, including veterans, to download beginning Thanksgiving Day and will remain available through mid-March, Ondrasik said. The entire CD, as well as individual songs, can be downloaded at no charge.

If problems are encountered in the downloading process, Ondrasik suggested contacting Operation Homefront or contact CD For the Troops through the Web site.
