Track and Field Coaching Learning from the Legends Seminar
Here is the never-before-released 'Learning from the Legends' |
Tom Tellez |
A member of the U.S. Track Coaches Association Hall of Fame, Tellez has produced some of the greatest track and field performers in the history of the sport. In addition to coaching outstanding individual athletes, Tellez also had some successful teams during his 22 years as head coach at Houston. He led the men's team to nine Top 10 showings at the NCAA indoor meet, including a fourth-place finish in 1996. He also guided UH to six Top 15 finishes at the NCAA outdoor meet. The UH men won the 1997 and 1998 indoor and outdoor Conference USA titles, as well as the 1977 and 1978 Southwest Conference indoor titles. |
Before Houston, Tellez was an assistant coach at UCLA beginning in 1968. While at UCLA, he coached Dwight Stones, Mike Tully, Willie Banks and James Butts. In 1976, he was offered the chance to become the strength and conditioning coach for the Dallas Cowboys under Tom Landry. Instead, he opted to come to Houston. In addition to his success at Houston, Tellez enjoyed tremendous success on the international circuit as well. Between 1984 and 1996, six of the seven United States sprinters who won Olympic Gold Medals were coached by Tellez and seven of the USA's overall 13 medals were claimed by his athletes.
He was named the head coach for the 1991 U.S. national team that competed in the World Championships at Tokyo, Japan and was the head coach for the 1987 USA Pan American team. He also served as an assistant coach for the 1980 and 1984 USA Olympic teams. He coached the throwing events in 1980 and the jumping events in 1984.
Accomplishments Achieved by Coach Tellez' Athletes:

Dan Pfaff |
A highly respected authority on field event coaching around the world, Pfaff has more than 30 years of coaching to his credit, including as the women's track and field head coach at the UTEP and assistant coaching positions at the University of Florida, University of Texas-Austin, and LSU. Pfaff has tutored athletes who have combined to earn 29 NCAA individual national championships, more than 150 NCAA All-America honors, as well as guiding 33 Olympians who went on to earn 7 medals at the Olympic Games. |
Pfaff has served as a coach on teams that have won 17 NCAA titles, has coached on three Olympic team staffs and seven World Championships staffs. While at University of Texas-Austin (1995-2003), the Texas men's team finished in the top 10 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships four of six seasons. While there, he coached nine NCAA champions and a pair of Olympians. One of his most highly accomplished athletes, Mark Boswell, finished his career with 19 consecutive wins and took home the NCAA indoor and outdoor titles in the high jump in 1999 and 2000.
Prior to his arrival in Austin, Pfaff was the head field events coach at LSU from 1984-95 for both the men and women's teams. While in Baton Rouge, LSU enjoyed tremendous success as the Tigers' women's team won the NCAA outdoor title nine consecutive years from 1987-95 and claimed the indoor title six times in that span. The men's team added a pair of NCAA outdoor titles in 1989 and 1990. In his tenure at LSU, Pfaff coached athletes who won 17 NCAA titles.

How Much Does the Learning from the Legends Seminar Cost?
If you were to attend a seminar of this caliber, you'd have to factor in the costs of flight, hotel, meals and transportation. Not to mention the stress and hassle of traveling and the cost of the seminar itself.
After all, spending over 7.5 hours watching and listening to two of the most influential coaches in the sport of Track & Field isn't cheap. And, I think you'd agree, it shouldn't be.

A sheriff's deputy was shot and killed Saturday after responding to reports of gunfire at a trailer park in western Ohio, the sheriff said.
A second law enforcement officer also was shot at the Enon Beach trailer park in suburban Springfield.
His condition is serious, but he is expected to live, said Clark County Sheriff Gene Kelly.
Video from CNN affiliate WDTN shows the officer being shot. He falls to the ground and rolls before other officers help him to get out of the line of fire.
The unidentified suspect was shot and killed, said Kelly.
"This is the worst day in my 24 years as the sheriff of Clark County," Kelly said, his voice breaking with emotion. "It's a terrible tragedy for this community."
He declined to identify the deputy until he can notify her family.
"Our deputy never had the opportunity to return fire or take cover," said Kelly.
She had responded to reports of shots in the area and had begun her initial investigation when she was killed, he said.
Additional officers arrived on scene. As they approached, the suspect opened fire again and a gunbattle ensued, during which the second officer was injured, Kelly said.
He praised the fallen officer as an outstanding deputy. She was married and the mother of two children, he said.
When Eric Meyers was a 24-year-old math teacher in Dallas, he had been smoking for about a year and noticed the fire in his sex life was no longer raging.
"I didn't know why, but sex was becoming boring," he says. "I just didn't have the desire anymore. I would get out of breath so easily, and I simply didn't feel right." While he only smoked a half a pack a day on average, he usually smoked much more on the Saturdays and Sundays. The effects he noticed were not good.
"I remember feeling like I was going to pass out after having sex in the shower," he says. That was a major turning point. He quit smoking, started exercising, and began to eat a much more balanced diet. After making these changes, his sex drive saw a real boost and now enjoys it more than ever.
Being able to quit smoking is a real accomplishment -- especially when you consider how smoking can become intertwined with the intimacy of a relationship. Last year, for example, a group of researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles began to study couples where at least one partner was a smoker.
The research team started to realize that smoking actually became a method of subtle communication for couples undertaking the study. Lighting up a cigarette was often a clues to each partner that it was time to talk, time to relieve each other of some space, or even the time to defend yourself because a storm of an argument was about to ensue.
This federally funded research study will continue throughout the next year, and scientists hope it will provide methods to help counsel couples to better recognize the damage cigarettes cause as an abusive third member of the relationship. If these couples are going to cut the habit from their lives and relationships, they will likely have to find healthier means to relate to each other, and more often than just during the familiar after-sex smoke.
And of course, as Meyers found, smoking can directly hurt the sex life, too.
"Smoking has a strong, direct, and clearly negative effect on the sexuality of both men and women on every level," says Albert M. Jones, PhD, director of the Andrology Institute of America and professor of reproductive physiology and andrology (the study of male sexual health) at the University of Washington
Through their years of working with couples being treated for infertility and other sex related issues, Jones and his research team have found men smoking cigarettes had a significantly decreased ability to conceive. But they also found another surprise: Smoking drastically diminished a male's desire to have sex and even sexual satisfaction -- even for younger men in their 20s and 30s. It is safe to conclude that even younger men in their teens suffer from the same decreased libido and sexual enjoyment.
In a six month period, the scientists found that a group of non-smokers had sex more than twice as often as their group of smoking couples. This results of this study is especially important considering that these couples were actively trying to conceive. "A major goal of our study is to identify how and why the use of tobacco impacts a man's sexual performance so negatively. In experience as a physician, it definitely decreases performance. But what sexual performance involves is much more than just erectile function; it has to do with many of the body's systems," says Jones. "Clearly, when the ability to have sex suffers, the appetite for sex will suffer as well."
Jones conclusion, which makes perfect sense, is that when decreased sexual appetite is combined with an impaired ability to perform sexually, overall sexual satisfaction is more than likely to suffer. In a survey conducted by the team asked participants to rate their sexual satisfaction on a scale of 1 to 10, nonsmoking couples averaged a 8.4, while couples with a male smokers averaged only 5.2.
"I have no doubt in my mind," says Jones, "that nearly any man's sexual satisfaction, desire, and frequency of activity would improve if he stopped smoking. This extends to women as well"
So, how can you start your way to healthier lifestyle by taking the first steps to stop smoking?
What has helped hundreds of thousands of people quit painlessly is an improved smoking cessation shot consisting of a combination of two medicines that have been around for over a decade and are FDA-approved for indications other than quitting smoking.
Scientifically proven and medically backed, this method has received world wide acclaim, helping thousands of people quit everyday.

Military To Work With FEMA During Swine Flu Pandemic
CNN report stokes fears of martial law, mandatory vaccination program
By Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet | According to a CNN report, the military will assist civilian authorities in the event of a significant swine flu outbreak in the U.S. this fall, stoking fears that the pandemic, which has claimed relatively few lives so far, will be used as an excuse to implement martial law and a mandatory vaccination program.
“The plan calls for military task forces to work in conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. There is no final decision on how the military effort would be manned, but one source said it would likely include personnel from all branches of the military,” states the report.
The proposal, which was drawn up by U.S. Northern Command’s Gen. Victor Renuart, is awaiting final approval from Defense Secretary Robert Gates. The first step would be to sign an “execution order” which would authorize the military to begin detailed planning on how to implement the proposal, before actual orders to deploy military personnel are given.
The amount of troops required or whether they would come from the active duty or the National Guard and Reserve forces has not yet been determined.
Northcom has been preparing for mass flu pandemics for years and indeed, Gen. Victor Renuart spoke of the threat of a flu pandemic emerging out of Mexico just weeks before it actually happened.
[That one statement is what got me to reading some of the other stuff on this site.]
Testifying back in March, Renuart said Northcom would provide “assistance in support of civil authorities” during an epidemic, adding “when requested and approved by the Secretary of Defense or directed by the President, federal military forces will contribute to federal support.” However, Renuart then added, “USNorthCom does not wait for that call to action.”
“Because Mexico is our neighbor and disasters do not respect national boundaries, we are focused on developing and improving procedures to respond to potentially catastrophic events such as pandemic influenza outbreak, mass exposure to dangerous chemicals and materials, and natural disasters,” he testified.
Northcom was only relatively recently assigned its own fighting unit – the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team, which had been fighting in Iraq for five years before that. As we have previously reported, the Armed Forces Press Service has initiated a propaganda campaign designed to convince the American people that deploying the 3rd Infantry Division in the United States in violation of the Posse Comitatus Act is a good thing, with images of soldiers from the brigade helping in “humanitarian” rescue missions, such as car wrecks. This is all designed to condition Americans to accept troops on the streets and highways as a part of everyday life.
The assignment of the 1st Brigade Combat Team to Northcom alarmed the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). “This is a radical departure from separation of civilian law enforcement and military authority and could, quite possibly, represent a violation of law,” said Mike German, ACLU national security policy counsel.
The news that troops are being prepared to work with FEMA in the event of a swine flu pandemic will increase fears that the government is preparing to enforce a mandatory vaccination program – at gunpoint if necessary.
State health authorities have already confirmed that if the government were to announce a mandatory vaccination program, then there would be no exemptions whatsoever and the program could be carried out with the use of force if necessary.
As reported by CNS News earlier this month, a health-care reform bill approved by the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee called The Affordable Health Choices Act, will fund the creation of state “intervention” teams that will carry out home visits in order to check that both children and adults have been vaccinated and also provide “provision of immunizations”.
“Home visits? What exactly is the state going to do when it sends people to “implement interventions” in private homes designed “to improve immunization coverage of children”? asks the CNS report.
There can be little doubt that many Americans will call upon their second amendment rights and resort to using force to protect themselves and their children if the government attempts to forcibly impose a mass vaccination program. This is why the assistance of military personnel may be necessary to subdue potential resistors in the event of mandatory quarantines and inoculations.
The last time the the national guard and military worked with FEMA and local law enforcement on a large scale in the United States was during Hurricane Katrina, when they aided in the confiscation of privately owned firearms of citizens, even those who lived in the high and dry areas and were unaffected by the hurricane.

Alabama County May Call In Troops To Perform Law Enforcement Duties
Another reflection of America’s decline into a Soviet-style militarized police state
By Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet | The implementation on martial law in America advanced a step further yesterday when the sheriff of Alabama’s most populous county said he would probably have to bring in National Guard troops to perform law enforcement duties due to budget cuts.
Plans to slash $4.1 million from the budget of Sheriff Mike Hale by Jefferson County commissioners in order to head off a municipal bankruptcy filing were approved by Circuit Judge Joseph L. Boohaker.
“A spokesman for Hale, Randy Christian, said the sheriff told Riley after the ruling that state assistance may be needed to perform basic law enforcement tasks once the department’s current funding is exhausted in early September,” reports the Associated Press.
“We will certainly be looking at calling in the National Guard,” said Christian.
Jefferson County has 640,000 residents and includes the state’s largest city, Birmingham.
Moves to replace traditional law enforcement with National Guard troops have been replicated in other parts of the country, including in Schenectady New York, where budgetary constraints were not even cited as a reason for the changeover.
After a handful of police officers were accused of assaulting citizens, Mayor Brian Stratton proposed declaring martial law and replacing the city’s entire roster of cops with National Guardsmen.
“It may be that as a stopgap measure, that you would need military forces – State Police, National Guard.” the Mayor said.
The use of military assets in civilian law enforcement is still illegal under Posse Comitatus, unless a clear state of emergency exists. The misbehavior of a few cops or the inability of a Sheriff to manage a budget cut does not constitute a state of emergency.
In this context, without the justification of an existing crisis that mandates National Guard intervention, the threat to replace police officers with troops on a whim is a sad reflection of how America is turning into a Soviet style military police state, as law enforcement increasingly shifts over to Homeland Security and Northcom controlled military assets.

Movies & Mess
We did more filming today. :)
We got 11 clips done - some re-makes of old ones and a few new ones too.
We started with a scene of Jonathan lying in bed suffering excessive painful nightmares. Ash could barely do it for laughing. She did these really agonised groans - then burst out laughing.
"Oh yeah! Nightmares are PROPER hilarious aren't they Ash?"
"They proper are!"
Then we dolled her up in the suit once more - with a different tie this time - took a few shots of her creeping around doorframes with her cane in hand, calling out Abigail's name - ready for a nice wooden beating.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then came the time I'd been dreading - the re-do of the trip scene.
It's been snowing, raining and hailstoning ALL WEEK. The field was slippery - the mud clung to your shoes.
I still added a bucket of water to the mud patch for good measure.
...But we really should have tried a new location.
The fall was fine - it didn't hurt - I landed flat on my face - it all splattered over my face.
I was alright, until I realised I hadn't just slid through mud.
...The saturated remains of animal droppings had also been present there - and I had a mouthful of crap - LITERALLY.
I just grimaced, groaned - stood up straight after Ash had said her line. I could smell it on my shirt, taste it on my lips - I just made a run for the gate - tore off my clothes - dived in the shower and scrubbed this foulness from my person.
I spent about 10 minutes brushing my teeth too. ...Now I can actually say I've tasted shit...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thankfully - I wasn't the only one getting absolutley covered in various substances.
We re-did some scenes from the first filming day - scenes of Abigail beating up Jonathan with blood all over his face - hitting him in the jaw with his own cane until he drooled blood down his shoulder.
Then we did what Ash was dreading - the vomit scene!
I re-made the vomit with the same oats and milk - took out the flour, as it almost made Ash REALLY vomit last time. She requested peas in it this time - so that gave it some funky colour.
To make it even worse - I'd tipped some down her shirt in advance before she spat some out on camera - and it ended up absorbing through her shirt - and thus drenching her underwear.
She spent most of the day not wearing any. It's alright for her though - she doesn't really have a great deal in the chest department. :D
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We spent the rest of the day eating hot-dogs, playing World Tour and engaging in our usual banter.
Then Ash requested I start playing Resident Evil.
...My WORD. It's fucking mint - but it's fucking hard.
The graphics are awesome - I love seeing Jill's sexy arse in her tight combats when she bends down to pick up green herbs. Looks so much better in 128 bit than her usual 64 bit on the Playstation and DS counterparts. :)
