Scout @ MindSay
On Halloween, Deborah Myers (Sheri Moon Zombie) is called into her son Michael's (Daeg Faerch) school after the principal becomes concerned with Michael's behavior, as well as the discovery of a series of Polaroids of dead animals Michael keeps in his locker. Present at the meeting is Dr. Samuel J. Loomis (Malcolm McDowell), a child psychologist, who informs Deborah that Michael displays the warning signs of a psychopath and urges her to allow him to further assess the boy. Earlier that day, Michael had been bullied in the bathroom over a flyer advertising Deborah's strip club, where she was a dancer. Michael followed one of the bullies into the woods and brutally beat him to death with a tree branch. That night, Michael goes home and murders his mother's boyfriend (William Forsythe), his sister Judith (Hanna R. Hall), and her boyfriend (Adam Weisman). Deborah returns home to find Michael bloodied and sitting on the porch with his baby sister. Michael is convicted of first degree murder and taken to Smith's Grove Sanitarium, where he is placed under the supervision of Dr. Loomis. For the first eleven months, Michael cooperates with Dr. Loomis, claiming no memory of killing anyone. Deborah visits him regularly, where he shows her the papier-mâché Halloween masks he has been constructing in his room and wearing all day. One night, Michael befriends orderly Ismael Cruz (Danny Trejo), an ex-con who teaches Michael to cope with incarceration by internalizing himself. Michael takes the advice literally, entering a state of semi-catatonia. Shortly thereafter, he kills a nurse (Sybil Danning); Deborah Myers, who saw the event, returns home that night and kills herself. For the next fifteen years, Michael (Tyler Mane) continues making his masks and not speaking to anyone. Dr. Loomis, wanting to move on with his life, retires, deeming his former charge a true psychopath and writing a book about his time working with Michael. Michael is scheduled to be transported to maximum security, but breaks free of his chains, murdering all of his guards, and escapes. He finds his way to a truck stop and murders a driver for his clothes. Michael returns to his childhood home and retrieves a kitchen knife and a Halloween mask he stole from his sister's boyfriend from underneath some floorboards.
The story shifts to Laurie Strode (Scout Taylor-Compton), and her friends Annie Brackett (Danielle Harris) and Lynda Van Der Klok (Kristina Klebe) on Halloween. Throughout the day, Laurie witnesses Michael watching her from a distance. That night, she heads to the Doyle residence to watch their son Tommy Doyle, who persistently asks her about the boogeyman. Meanwhile, Lynda meets with her boyfriend Bob (Nick Mennell) at Michael Myers' childhood home, where they drink beer and have sex. After they finish having sex, Michael appears, murders them, and then heads to the Strode home, where he murders Laurie's parents. Having been alerted to Michael's escape, Dr. Loomis comes to Haddonfield looking for Michael. After obtaining a .357 Magnum handgun, Loomis approaches Annie's father, the town sheriff, telling him that Michael has returned home and that people's lives are in danger. Sheriff Brackett (Brad Dourif) and Dr. Loomis head to the Strode home, Brackett explaining along the way that Laurie is actually Michael Myers' baby sister. He was the responding officer the night of Deborah Myers' suicide; not wanting the infant to grow up with the stigma of being related to Michael, he faked her disappearance and left her at a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, Laurie gets a call from Annie, who is babysitting Lindsey Wallace across the street from the Doyle home; Annie convinces Laurie to watch Lindsey long enough so she can have sex with her boyfriend Paul. Annie and Paul return to the Wallace home; during sex, Michael murders Paul and beats Annie until she is unconscious. Bringing Lindsey home, Laurie finds Annie on the floor, bloodied, and calls 911. She is attacked by Michael, who chases her back to the Doyle home. Sheriff Brackett and Loomis hear the 911 call and head to the Wallace residence. Michael kidnaps Laurie, and takes her back to his home. At the Myers home, Michael approaches Laurie and tries to show her that she is his younger sister. Unable to understand, Laurie grabs Michael's knife and stabs him before escaping the house; Michael chases her, but is repeatedly shot by Dr. Loomis. Loomis and Laurie are just about to leave when Michael grabs Laurie and heads back to the house. Loomis intervenes, but Michael kills him by crushing his skull. Laurie takes Loomis' gun and runs upstairs; she is chased by Michael, who, after cornering her on a balcony, charges her head-on and knocks both of them over the railing. Laurie finds herself on top of a bleeding Michael. Aiming Loomis' gun at his face, she repeatedly pulls the trigger until the gun finally goes off just as Michael's hand grips Laurie's wrist.
May 9, 2007 (San Dimas, CA) On May 26, 2007, Zachary James Foster will be honored for having earned the Eagle Scout award, the highest advancement rank in Scouting. Only 2 in 100 scouts will achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. This is especially significant since Zach did it with only one arm; he was born missing his right forearm. That obviously did not stop him. As a member of Boy Scout Troop 423, Zach has earned merit badges in such taxing physical skills as canoeing, rowing, swimming, and horseback riding. He also completed the arduous Mile Swim twice. With the use of a prosthesis, he has rappelled down cliffs, gone rock climbing, boulder jumping, practiced archery, gymnastics and learned to tap dance.
To earn the Eagle Scout rank, a boy scout must fulfill requirements in the areas of leadership, service, and outdoor skills by earning at least 21 merit badges. Zach earned 24 merit badges. Not satisfied with just scouting, he volunteers for “A Touch of Love,” a support group for limb deficient children, and for Congressman David Drier’s office. Zach is a member of the nationally acclaimed Bonita High School Chamber Singers, has taken mostly Honors or Advanced Placement classes in high school, has learned to read and write Spanish fluently, is in the Bonita Book and Kung Fu Movie Clubs. Zach is now teaching himself Japanese because he is also in the Anime Club.
Zach’s Eagle Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 26, at 11:00 a.m., at the Via Verde Country Club in San Dimas. For more information on limb deficient support groups, contact “A Touch of Love” at 1(800) 493-5462. For more information on scouting, contact San Gabriel Valley Council at (626) 351-8815.
Brother Watson presents me. He has nothing but great things to say. I don't think I've lived up to all that, have I? Maybe after all I've been through, the thick and the thin, I really have become the amazing young man that he presented to those three review board members. It's hardly my accomplishment though. I wouldn't have done any of it had it not been for my parents, my leaders, my brothers in the quorum, my sisters from home and from the ward, the old and the new. I sure couldn't have done it without the examples that I've seen. If nothing else came from years of scouting, that has been enough. Just being exposed to these wonderful people, these men young and old who taught me to be the best person I can be...
Who taught me to be an Eagle Scout.
Someone was praying for me. They asked me questions, and I gave them answers. Though the questions are not the kind with a right and a wrong answer, I gave the right answer. Everything they asked, the way I felt came to me, as if I had anticipated the question for years. Maybe I have.
I preformed marvelously. They were impressed. I preformed above and beyond myself. I wasn't just Joshua Tobler, I was Joshua Tobler the Eagle Scout. Nothing they said caught me off guard. Everything that came from my mouth blew them away. I was confident, I was calm, I was in control. Somebody was praying for me.
I walked out of that small room knowing full well what the outcome would be. I had overcome every task that was thrown at me, I had mastered the skills, learned the lessons, become the person that they expect an Eagle Scout to be.
The deliberations were over before they began. I walked back in with Dad and Brother Watson. The Review Board Chair shook my hand, and was the first to congradulate me on becomming the Man I had sought to be. I was an Eagle Scout. I am an Eagle Scout.
I am an Eagle Scout.
Hello everybody!
I hope everybody's day has been going good. I suppose mine went okay.
I had to go with the CCYLP people today. Thank goodness this was our last session. The rest of the sessions have been sooo boring, but today wasn't that bad. We went to Montgomery and toured the Capitol. We got to tour the Capitol building, The Dexter Ave. Baptist Church (where MLK pastored) then we went to the parsonage where him and his family lived when they were in Montgomery. After walking 6 blocks back to Dexter Ave, we had to walk about 3 more to the AmSouth building for lunch. We ate in a ball room on the 21st floor (I almost died in the elevator...I hate close spaces.), ate a 3-course meal (thank you Girl Scouts for teaching me etiquette), then enjoyed the view of Montgomery from balcony.
When we finished our lunch, we then moved on to the U.S. District Courthouse (more walking!)
We got some history about the old courthouse, then the new one, and the tour guide led us to the cell block where they keep prisoners awaiting trial. Yeah, that kinda freaked me out a bit. Me and some other girls got locked in one of the cells by the guide (photo op!). Then we went to where they process prisoners and I got a mug shot taken. lol.
We then toured more of the courthouse and went back to the main control room and looked at all of the cameras. I was checking out the cool guns they had, then suddenly realized that more than half of the group had left. Well, me and the guys ( they were the only ones besides me looking at the guns) followed the guide through the back doors and around to the old courthouse. We sat in there for a while, then it was finally time to come home.
Well, a very eventful day, I have to say.
Oh, and I finally figured out what to name my puppy. "Scout" from the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird. I know that the puppy is a boy, and the character was a girl, but I figure "Scout" could work both ways.
Anyway, I'm bored, so I'm gonna go. Ttyl!

p.s. My feet are killing me from all of the walking!!!
I'm kinda sick of being away from home. Not so much homesick, because that would imply that I havn't been home in a long time. Maybe semi homesick. That would be a good one.
I was skeptical of this whole trip from the beginning. Being in the presidency I'm not allowed to be sekptical so there really wasn't a whole lot I could do about it. First day was cool. That one had alot of down-hill. After we set up camp, we built a dam in the stream that ran through out campsite. It sprung a tiny leak while it was filling up, but it didn't drain. The only thing was, it never got any deeper than fourteen inches. Once it reached that equalibreum, we got bored and everybody left camp to go swim in the REAL resuviour down at strawbery. I stayed behind and used the little pond as a bath. Even after one day, i really needed it.
Wednesday (day 2) was alot more uphill. It was about even up and down until we came to..well..a mountain. At that point, we climbed the whole fricken mountain. As was my goal, I did not ever walk my bike, nor did I take a turn riding in the support vehicle, nor did I attatch to the support vehicle and become a "chuck wagon free-loader". After a brief downhill we began to climb again. At the top of the hill, one of the most experienced among us as far as downhill mountain biking, even more so than the adult leaders...he kind of...well...took a spill. He was the second down the hill and he tried to jump the rocks. We figure that all the different jumps he was going off were loosening up the cap on his front axel, and that one finally jarred it off. His wheel came out from under him and he slid down the trail a good fifteen feet. The gravel ate up his face, his arm, and his knees. Blood was everywhere. His helmet was dented inwards and gravel was jammed in the gap. Had he not snapped it up before he began his decent, he probably would be dead. Anyway, Jordon, who was right in front of him heard a crash and then a long skidding sound and turned around to find Matt (the one who took the spill) on the ground throwing up blood, having what appeared to be a siesure, and making a sound that resembled a dieing cow. He was balling, but only until he woke up. Once he regained conciousness, his ego took over and he held back his tears. We shoved advil down his throat while gauzing up his wounds. It is estimated that he'll need stitches in his face. We've also determined that he had some kind of concussion when he landed, because he couldn't remember the past five minutes of his life and he appeared drunk.
My dad came up to meet us and to play chuck-wagon for the day, and he was able to shuttle Matt down to the point where Sister Ostler was able to carry him back to town and have him stabalized. We sat around for two hours watching the clouds go by and rolling tires down the hill. Finally we were able to ride in to our campsite. My dad and I hung out while we were there, and we had another meal fit for kings courtesy of Jordon and his amazing cooking powers.
In the morning my dad left us to go pick up a Japanese...exchange...teacher...guy. Suzuki Hiro. Pretty cool guy. Anyway, we rode further up more hills. We were at the top of one when it started to rain on us. The rain wasn't bad, but the winds were easily fourty-five mph. I took my place among the smart people who had rigged up a tarp to cover the trailer halling our gear. We just kinda sat ontop of our packs listening to the rain hit the tarp until our steady pounding gave up. We went off on a little mountain trail and rolled rocks down the hill and doing other potentially fatal boy-scoutish activities. We rode back to the main rode and set up camp again. After dinner, a spiritual program, and an hour of stand-up comedy courtesy of our nerds (myself included), we hit the hay. We got up the next morning and went home. I'm tired.
Total milage gained: 100 miles apx.
