This Is A Good Week To Be A Sci-Fi Geek
This week brings the return of two of science fiction television's best shows...BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and DOCTOR WHO.

April 4th sees BSG begin its fourth and final season. As a fan I am saddened to see the ending of the best political drama with religious undertones that just happens to be set in space and feature killer robots.
But I am also extremely amped up to see what great television this show is going to produce this season and to see how many of my questions will be answered.
How is Starbuck alive? Is she the last Cylon? If not her than who? Will the colonists find Earth? Will Pres. Roslin be alive to see it?

Saturday is the return of the good Doctor for his fourth season (or series as the Brits call 'em) and he's got a new companion in Donna. Now I am a bit peeved that Martha Jones isn't riding in the Tardis this season but I am willing to gie Donna a chance as long as she isn't as shrieky as she was in the Runaway Bride special from a few Christmas's ago. Aside from a new companion this season is looking to be really cool with the return of not just one but three (four if you count Capt. Jack from TORCHWOOD) of the Doctor's former companions when Martha, Sarah Jane Smith and Rose Tyler all come back for the final arc of this season which should be a humdinger. There are even rumors that an entire episode will focus on just the past and present companions as they work together to save the Doctor.

This is the start of pure geek nirvana for me.

Coming out of the closet...

Okay, I'm facing up to the fact that I'm a closet sci-fi fan.  I've tried to deny it, but alas, all the signs are there.  Although I don't like all sci-fi stuff (No Star Trek thank-you), I do tend to lean towards the magical relm of science fiction.  What are my favorite movies?  Well lets look at some of them: Star Wars 1-6; Harry Potter 1-4; Underworld 1&2, and let's not forget josiejunk's favorite of mine Bad Boys II...hmm is there a recurring theme here?

I've also written my first letter to a network in support of renewing a show for a second season.  It is Sci-Fi's The Dresden Files, based on the novels by Jim Butcher.  I happened to watch the show on a whim and it was really good, so I picked up the books and have read 6 so far.  I've seen the all of the Season One episodes of The Dresden Files, and they are all entertaining.  Plus Paul Blackthorne plays Harry Dresden, and he is HOT.  He's 6' 4", dark hair and dark eyes - ruggedly handsome.  He's English, but uses an American accent on the show.  (Too bad, the English accent is way hotter).  Just 'google' him ladies, you'll see what I'm talking about!

I've also read all the Harry Potter books.  In high-school I read all of Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches' series and a few of The Vampire Chronicals.  But I never did get into shows like Buffy or Angel and I don't watch Stargate - I guess I have very particular tastes when it comes to what sci-fi I do like.

I did pick up a couple of Tanya Huff's books, because I saw a review that said if you like Huff, then you would really like Jim Butcher's novels - I figured the opposite would be true as well.
