Y'all should go say hi to
santaslapdog . And yes, she does talk that way. Often.
Ver' proud of everyone who did the Polar Bear Plunge Saturday. The weather was starting to look a little scary for it around noon (which doesn't affect the Plunge itself, merely getting to it), but to everyone who braved it out (yeah, I know, Southern Minnesotans are sissies, what am I talking about?), you guys are awesome. Props for me friends Knuter and Erino, you rock.
At my mom's request, I missed church today. Really wish I hadn't, but while the Proverebs 31 woman has no fear for her household in the snow, my mom does.
Which is funny, because it was perfectly fine to go out and play with a friend at Oxbow later. Had a blast, but really missed going to church. Kevin's currently working through Song of Solomon (or Song of Songs, depending), and Kevin's teaching in general is rather cool. He does the research (or has done) to know more of the background details, and he has a gift for describing scenes, for putting you there. They're more than words on a page, these are real people.
Plus, and this is one of the main reasons I'm at this church, anybody can come up to him after the service and argue a point. Singles group, and being able to argue a point with the pastor.
Fortunately, the recording of the sermon and the notes are online a little while after. I think, no matter where I go to church while I'm at school, I'm going to depend on that. It's not nearly the same thing - church is as much about the social/encouragement/meeting/being with friends in general (we call it "fellowship", but that's just Christian-speak coming up again) as it is teaching. You can read every book in the world on faith, but if you never connect with other people who can encourage you in your walk and laugh with you, you will starve.
I suppose, instead of griping, I should be joyful and thankful that I'm at a church that I DO look forward to attending, where I regret missing a day, where I can understand what's being taught and actually work with it and use it, and I'm welcomed by the others my age and the pastor. But...it's going to be another week before I get to go again!
Rogue is laughing at me.
