We are here in Hawai'i visiting Grandma and Grandpa, and having lots of fun. Yesterday we went to the beach and Alex had so much fun playing in the sand, looking for beach rocks and playing in the ocean.
While we were there a little girl and her parents came to the beach and Alex immediately began following her around. He loves to play with older kids. He followed her around for a while and I kept staring at this little girl's dad, because he looked so familiar. I thought he looked like a high school classmate of mine, but wasn't 100% sure. So eventually I went up to him and said "Chad?" he recognized me and we all said hi, since we hadn't seen each other in 12 years. We hung out in the same group of friends in high school, but he had grown a beard and grew his hair out so it was hard to tell if it was him at first.
His little girl is stunningly beautiful, and she loved playing with Alex the rest of the time we were at the beach. She is 4 and Alex is 2 so they had fun playing in the sand and building sand castles. Alex kept giving her hugs and kisses, which he doesn't do very often with other kids, but every once in a while he'll go up to another child and give them a big hug and kiss.
Alex loves the beach. He loves the sand and wading into the ocean to play in the water. When we finally left, we had to drag him, kicking and screaming, away from the beach. He was covered in sand from head to toe.
