We recently drove to Salt Lake City. On the drive out, I commented to Tracy that I would like to get a big tumbleweed to put in front of our barn which is painted like this.
That's my oldest sister in front of our barn, sitting on my brother's buggy and mule.
Be careful what you ask for, because I got what I asked for......Sort of.
On the way back I was driving in the middle of the night when my headlights lit up a huge tumbleweed right in the middle of my lane. I won't tell how big it was because most people probably wouldn't believe me. I didn't realise tumbleweeds got that big til I saw it in my lane. I glanced in my left mirror and saw a car in the left lane so I couldn't swerve. My only choices were to hit the brakes and slide to a stop on the interstate or run over the tumbleweed. So I ran over it.
My next thought was that some of it probably got stuck in my undercarriage. I stopped at the next truck stop and sure enough there was a big branch of it stuck between the axles.
Here is the pile I had when I got it all dug out. Remember, this is just one of the branches that got stuck.
The rest of it was scattered on the interstate. Be careful when you're driving out West. Trust me. These things get huge.
