Clunk

I'm watching the Miami Sacramento basketball game on TNT, and there have been a lot of missed shots resulting in that unmistakable "clunk" of ball hitting rim.  Maybe someone can actually get it IN the basket?

Phoenix beat New Jersey in double overtime.  I wish they had shown that game on tv!

PURPLE AND GOLD v. 3.0
Current mood:  excited
Category: Sports

OK, so it wasn't Game Eight in the ongoing series between the Phoenix Suns and my LA Lakers, but it was impressive.

No Kobe.

No Kwame.

No problem.

Lakers win 114-106 last night in the NBA season opener.

My heart tells me we can go 82-0 but my head is thinking more like 55-27. That's 10 games better than last year and given how much the team improved during the season under Phil, there's no reason they can't pick up where they left off last April.

Beat the evil Suns, Clippers, Warriors and hated Sacramento Kings enough times this year and they're division winners guaranteed a top 3 seed in the playoffs.

Anything less is a disappointment.

Kings Crush Bulls

The Kings are definitely a different and better team with Ron Artest.  They killed the Bulls yesterday.  Absolutely killed us by 18 points.  Mike Bibby dropped 20 on us.

Artest a hit with fans in Sacramento debut

After the drama and disappointment that consumed Ron Artest's life over the past two seasons, he was thrilled just to have the chance to jump into the stands again.

The Sacramento Kings' ever-loving fans were equally excited - and they responded to one of their new forward's many hustle plays with one of many ovations.

Artest scored 19 points in his home debut, Kevin Martin added a career-high 25 and the Kings held on for their 19th straight home victory over the Denver Nuggets, 98-91 Tuesday night.

NBA docks Kings $30,000 for video stunt

NEW YORK -- The Sacramento Kings were fined $30,000 by the NBA on Monday for showing derogatory images of Detroit on video screens prior to their home opener against the Pistons.

When the Pistons were introduced Nov. 8, the Arco Arena scoreboard flashed pictures of abandoned buildings, burned-out cars, piles of rubble and other negative images of Detroit. The Pistons won the game 102-88.

The Kings apologized that night and owners Joe and Gavin Maloof bought full-page ads that ran in The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press, expressing "great respect for Detroit's long and rich tradition as a landmark American city and the incredibly positive impact the Motor City has made over the course of our country's history."
