Roadkill @ MindSay
Uncle Bill took up taxidermy a few years back. Waaaay to much time on this old farts hands. He is for the most part self taught. A few years back he told me if I ever saw some dead animal along side the road that wasn't badly mangled to pick it up and freeze it for him. I'm not one to stop and examine dead animals along side of the road ... so I ignored this request .... in one ear and out the other.
Last spring he sold his ranch and moved into a smaller home with less acreage ..... an age thing I'm sure. I've been to the new home a few times but never spent much time indoors. So yesterdays Thanksgiving meal was quite interesting. Their home is now decorated with stuffed dead animals ..... everywhere. Posed in various ways to make them look natural and placed on things like logs, tree branches ....etc. all over the house .... even in the bathroom. For some reason I found this distirbing. I was uncomfortable eating with a family of racoons staring at me with their beady (sp?) little eyes. Out of the corner of my eye was a fox .... in full sprint ready to jump into my plate. Ewwww .....
I'm sure the food would have tasted a bit better if I wasn't sharing it with a forest of dead animals.
I guess I should be glad he has a hobby ..... but really ..... maybe a separate room for his display .... people can check it out if they really want to? At least I'll be prepared the next time we head over to eat. Which will hopefully be awhile.
Have a good Black Friday everyone. Me .... I'll take my chances right here at home .... shopping online. But if you were brave enough to get out there ..... hope you found some good deals.
Peace. J.
There once was a little black bird
The noise he made was absurd
Then one day, out into the road he did roam
Now he will never be going back home
For he walked out in front of a passing MAC truck
Now to the pavement, he is forever stuck
I wrote it forever ago but it sums up the way I feel today. Just one of those down in the dumps says. The kind that makes you wonder if your life is going in the right direction, all that am I where I should be shit. Should I take the chance and cross the street, maybe get run over in the process? Or should I stick with what I know, stay on the safe side of the road, never really take a chance.
Sometimes, I hate having to make decisions.
I ran over a dog today......it died.
It was like a chocolate lab puppy. oops, I guess....
The people behind me were like honking their horn, flashing their lights, and hanging out the window... I guess either to signal a message to me that I suck and they hate me cuz I'm a dog killer.... or that they wanted me to turn around and check on the dog... I was just like, okay first of all...it's not like the stupid dog is burning in hell because of me or anything... it's just roadkill now, so back off... and second, I'm not gonna go feel up a dog corpse...sorry, I'm just not into that kinda thing....
people and their stupid emotions....they're like, "oh my gosh! you're so cold hearted! you killed a puppy and you don't even care!"
all i have to say to people like that is, "okay...so, there's one less pet to waste dog food money on. For crying out loud, millions of babies are killed because of abortion and no one really bats an eye at that. I dunno about you, but it seems like a problem to me that people get more choked up about animals on the side of the road than they do actual human beings being innocently slaughtered because their "mother" can't deal with her own choices."
*ding*dong* let's have a reality check here.....
you're emotions are backwards, you're gay, and you irritate the crap out of me...
So I was driving to go shopping at work when I was going over these speedbumps that even my mom's car can actually get up onto, I always hit my bumper on one of them, it doesn't matter if I'm going 7mph or 25mph, I always fricken hit my bumper (Mitsubishi eclipses don't ride that low), they're waaaaay too high, I think they're above regulation, I should sue for a new bumper
but anyways, I was on my way to work when all of a sudden I see this thing speed from the corner of my eye and by the will of god(dess?) I didn't hit it, and swerved just enough to the side so that I didn't hit it XD kickass
You're welcome, little squirrel XD
I think I hit every piece of roadkill possibly known to man tonight on my way home from work. The more I tried to avoid it, the closer to dead centre it would be with my tires! I dont know how many times I felt things crunch and my car would shake and bump!
Keep in mind I do not live in the city. My ride home from work usually consists of highways or backroads so roadkill is common for me. But dear God there was a lot tonight!
Last night it was just a few frogs hopping across in front of my car, that I dont think made it.
Tonight it was a deer here, a racoon there, a porcupine here, a fox there ... great fun!
YUCK!
