And now, for something random...
Security Level: Low (Public / Everybody)

It is 2:11am, and I just brewed a fresh, hot and sweet cup of coffee.  Prior to this, I was dozing off.

MindSay > Customize Blog > Create an Introduction Post Current Status

When you create an introduction in MindSay, it shows up in your blog, right underneath the header pic, if you have one.  I will start using that to post my current status (see above). The current status feature in MySpace and Facebook has got to be one of the only things I like about those two sites, even if I don't update them as much.

Mobile Suit Gundam: SEED

Remember that entry about the anime files on CD that my sister's boyfriend let me borrow?  Believe it or not, I just started ripping them today.  For some reason, I started with Mobile Suit Gundam SEED... Why?  I don't know!  I could've started with either Trigun or Initial D...

Full Synthetic Lube:

On Friday, I went to the dealership because my Maintenance Minder kept on showing up as soon as I start the car.  It wasn't a big deal, knowing that I needed an oil change.

When I got to the dealership's service center, they recommended that I get Full Synthetic oil because it's better for Civic Si's.  I've been warned many times not to get Full Synthetic because once I start using it, I can never go back to regular oil.  But they guy at the dealership told me that I can always go back to using regular oil anytime.

QUESTION 1: Is this true: I can switch back to regular oil after using Full Synthetic motor oil?

QUESTION 2: Is it really "better" for my car as far as engine lubrication and gas mileage?

Anyway, while I'm temporarily caffeinated and fully charged, I'll be working on replying and commenting.

Why Some Internet Fights Get Started

I often come across a ranting reply to a post that leaves me puzzled because I wonder how on earth could someone totally misinterpret a post so badly. The responder goes off on such a ridiculous tangent that you think to yourself they had to have skimmed the post! How could someone's reading comprehension be that poor?  What's worse is that even when the writer of the post tries to explain him or herself the responder STILL insists on continuing the argument based on his or her misconstrued interpretation.

Now I know there are factors that contribute to this phenomenon.  Perhaps the poster's point wasn't made very clearly, but most of the time the fault lies with the responder.  He or she may have some underlying insecurities or biases that filter into his or her understanding of the text. Certain topics just seem to trigger those biases to the point where reading for content gets muddled.  Context clues fly out of the window.  Analogies and inferences become distorted.  The worst part is that once a person's words are read through these faulty filters, there is almost nothing the poster can do to try to get the responder to see what he or she was actually trying to say.

This phenomenon is not relegated to posts. Often a reply is misconstrued, too. Most of the time this happens when a person posts something they know may be controversial.  The poster is ready for a debate and by God they are going to get one whether someone made a negative reply or not! The most innocent or well-meaning response to a post can get decimated by an angry, hypersensitive poster. I think a lot of us have done one or both of these at one time or another, but some of us really need to clean out those filters.

Done Nothing

Like I said in yesterdays blog. I am off today. Thus, I have done nothing. Seriously, I do mean absolutly nothing!

My day started today at noon. When I finally decided I shouldnt stay in my comfy warm bed any longer. So I got up and turned the TV on. God there's nothing on at that hour. So I left it on the digital weather channel, and came and turned on my PC.

Only stayed online till 3. When it was time for dinner. So dinner was Velveta mac & cheese, with polish sausage. Yum. Then I retired back to my room.

At 4 pm, star trek voyager came on. Like it does every single week day. Then it was the local news, nightly news, and right now I am watching the buffalo sabres game.  Then house at 9 , bones at 10, the late local news at 11, then proabally bed.

Gee, sounds like such an exciting day off, doesnt it. Would anyone enjoy having my day? I am sure I'd be happy to trade lives with you. I mean I really do need something to do.

As far at the question in my previous blogs go. I am still asking the same question. Come on, some more answer and opinion's please!
