Renovations @ MindSay

three down and two to go

 

1. the floor is heated again and

2. all the baseboards are tiled and grouted.

3.  the small jacuzzi has an air switch now so you dont have to wait till the tub is half full to turn on the timer or get out and reset the timer.

 

yet to go:

 reordered stolen bidet ( last seen on I-84 heading east) arrives

bidet and faucet go  in

 

all this tomorrow if they stay on schedule. then...........

wrong bidet delivered, wrong faucet.  so you should have heard me giving bidet 101 lessons to my contractor because  he had never used one- the  majority of americana never have- and I had to make him understand that a vertical spray and flushing rim is pragmatically different from an over the rim faucet. Oh hell I have no modesty. when i gave birth at Mt Sinai Hospital, medical students made grand rounds and half  of all NYC med students that year got a look at my belly and snatch.

 

Anyway  the contractor said the correct bidet and hardware will be next monday.  and I spending another day locked in the den with abster because she bangs on the door if I leave her all alone. Ah the relief coach has arrived. finally !!

aha, greybeard and calico were so busy messing with lights and ladders that I got past the white doors  that have been shut to me for a loooooooooooooooong time and got to see what all the fuss is about. what a mess. that shiny smooth stuff is gone and all i can see are low criss cross little fences with puffy stuff  and space. i got across them and was heading for the hole in the wall near that whirling water thing they seem to like and greybeard snatched me up and deposited me back outside the white doors again.  damn animal. just cuz he is so big. Calico tried to distract me with some little dry bird bits but now more than ever I intend to learn the secret behind the doors.

 

maybe later i will hide those things he puts on his paws. that'll show him, as for her. i dont dare cross her, she is the food machine and she smells sooooooooo very sweet. purrrrr

a quiet night at home was so delicious. Jim made a fire in the den foreplace and we snuggled in after a dinner of fried eggs bacon and english muffins- don't you love breakfast food for dinner?- we were too tired to do the shabbat thing after he spent the day painting sealer on the cedar fence and I cleaned up after the workmen left for two whole days- so we ate, plopped down on the den sofa and watched two epidoses of Mapp & Lucia.

 

 

If you like dry whimsical BBC shows this one is terrific. About the rivalry between highly pretentious but kindly  Mrs. Lucas ( Lucia) and her arch rival Elizabath Mapp. a dumpy little snitch and busybody from whom  Lucia is renting a summer house. E F Benson wrote the novels and they are wonderfully brought to life by Prunella Scales ( Faulty Towers) and Geraldine McElwan ( The current Miss Marple) but in her younger more patrician days.

 

Abi seemed to like ou stay at home night and even though we didn't try to close her in last night she spent most of the night spooned against me quite comfortably. She discusses this is depth at bloggingcat . Of course i have to type for her because she perserverates on the keyboard and most everything ends up looking like fffffffffffffffffhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhksssssssssssssssssssssssssss. Good thing she can't hit the control alt delete all at once but she HAS deleted thing. bad kitty.

We are closing on the house today at 4:30!!

And then going straight there to tear up some carpet!
