Renaissance Festival @ MindSay

This is going to be a quick picture post since I have to go to work in an hour. I promise to post more tomorrow, and write a better entry about the recent MindSay Meetup at the Texas Renaissance Festival - Roman Bacchanal.



We really missed the Mindsayers that weren't able to make it.  It would've been so cool if they did.  Anyway, there's always next year.

As many of you already know I am a fiend for the Texas Renaissance Festival and

Lo and Behold... It has come again.  Yay! 

 

If you read Myclettes blog then you already know that we went to the store for things to fix up our costumes for next weekend.  Next weekend is the 1001 Dreams theme weekend which is Fairy weekend.  There are actually Fairys there all the time but on this weekend they abound.

 

The shopping trip went great.  I got some great ideas for improving my fairy costume.  I don't think I'm going to wear wings this year. 

 

I am using the same basic form I made a couple of years ago but I alway have to update and adjust it.  It's too boring otherwise!  LOL

A friend got some tickets for the Ren Fest and I got lucky enought to be off today so we met over there this morning... Yuck... Major rain and cold.  I can take the cold... I can take the rain... I can't hande both!  LOL

 

She was running late (it took her longer to get into town than she thought) so turned out I missed the opening procession again.  Arg... One day I am going to see that bitch. I stood out in the drizzling damp for an hour till it occured to me to wait in my car with the heater running and get the feeling back in my toes.  She got there 5 minutes later. 

Naturally there was hardly anyone there.  I didn't dress up this time.  Too cold and wet to fight a costume.  We made one good circle of the place and shopped a bit for some last day bargains and hit the road.  I made sure we took the time for a trip over to "my" dragon bench that I love.  I need to take that sucker home!  LOL

OK... You see how my Hoodie is dark pink and light pink... That's cause it's wet!

 

Next Stop... Lunch and girl talk in the woodlands.

 

  I love my new Katana!  Obviously I got it at the Ren Fest Saturday.  I actually got 2 weapons... the Katana and the Scottish Dirk.  The Dirk has this great design on the hilt but I couldn't get a decent pic to show.  The one below was the best I could get.  I had some trouble with the focus.  Oh well...

My Katana is very Girly... It has these great DragonFlies on it and it's a great size.  Most swords are to big for me and my short arms... this sucker was just right. LOL

As promised here are some pix from today's jaunt out to the Renaissance Festival... We managed to get there at 10:00 AM and left at 6:30 PM when the closing fireworks were done.  We had a great time in between.

I was on the hunt for hot barbarians to get my photo ops!  LOL...

It started off with myself, Environgirl and Myclette.  Ain't we cute!

We missed justjayme and justjames tons but due to vehicular issues they were unable to make it out this time.    NEXT TIME

A good friend of mine from work also managed to come to towm for the day with her boyfriend. They were both Ren Fest virgins and had their Cherries popped with the ol' cat 'o nine tails! 

I spent the rest of the day Stalking Hot Barbarians... Here are the best ones!

I couldn't leave with out the required pic at the Dragon Bench.  I love this bench.  I have many pix with me on it. 

 

We ran into CallmeRoger while walking the garden path.  Here he is with his lovely Lady! They're so cute!

Environgirl and  Myclette had some barbarian fun too but Miss M was tickled pink to find this Pirate who matched her! Outfit that is...LOL.  Man!  This dude was TALL.

They do the most kick ass closing fireworks show there every year!  I have never seen a show nearly as good at 4th of July or anywhere else! 

I have rarely seen it more crazy and full of people there.  It took us 2 1/2 hours to get the 1 hour home!  The first 45 minutes were simply sitting there in line trying to get out of the parking area without getting run down by the jerk who felt all entitled to jump into line anywhere he felt like (which happened to be in front of me).  I totally would have let him in with no trouble but he never gave any basic courtesies.  Nice... with a car load of kids.  I thought Myclette was gonna jump out and shank him.  No joke.  She was Ag- ra- vat- ted!
