Remodeling @ MindSay
Soter and I have finally reached our breaking point. For awhile now our master bathroom (if you can really call it that!) has been the subject of much discussion and much hatred on my part. On Saturday we decided to jump in and start remodeling it. About a year ago I wanted to re-do our downstairs powder room, and I'm glad we didn't, now we have more money set aside for our bathroom. Saturday morning we went to a plumbing/bathroom showroom kinda place and tomorrow morning they're coming to take measurements. We also went and picked out the marble we want for the shower and floor. And in a wonderful stroke of luck the owner of the marble place coached Soter in soccer and the son, who Soter played with, works there, too. So what does that mean? A very generous discount on pricing, how nice! This afternoon/evening we've been going through books and picking out the toilet, vanity, sink, shower head, faucets etc that we want. I'm pretty excited, though having it demolished for a bit isn't a great thought.
In other news Maria and I are in the middle of full blown colds. We're both sniffly and sneezy with runny noses. It's sad. Neither of us have an appetite and we're both bored but don't know what we want to do. Everyone in the house took a nap from about 2:30-4:30 this afternoon and that was nice. Maria's already taken 2 baths and I've got another filling for her now. When Soter comes home I'm going to hop in the shower again myself. The steam (and for Maria vapor bath) makes breathing easier for at least a little while. And to make us feel better we had donuts as our after dinner snack tonight.
I sent Soter on a mission. I know it's childish and stupid...but I don't care. I've become addicted to the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer. If you don't know about them, they are (I guess) the young adult equivilent to Ann Rice's Vampire Chronicles. Some are saying they're the next Harry Potter. Don't hate me, but I never really got into Harry Potter. I read the 1st 2 books and they didn't do it for me. And when I bought Twilight I did so on a whim, I needed something to read and I wasn't being picky. Well, I devoured the 1st book in one night and within 4 days I'd read the first 3 books of the series. The 4th book came out yesterday. When I was reading the 3rd book I swore I'd leave that 4th one for the week Soter's away in Kansas City so I'll have something to do in the evenings when Maria goes to bed. Yeah, I can't wait. It's pathetic, I know. But no matter how sad and pathetic it is Soter's out right now grabbing me a copy of Breaking Dawn. Soter teased that this is like when I was reading The DaVinci Code and we were out one night when I turned to him and said "I wonder what the characters in my book are doing right now." I'm that hooked. I need to know what's happening to a bunch of teenagers in a vampire book.....and I'm 30. Yep. That's right. No apologies.
As the dining table is stacked
As the floor becomes a maze
As coffee is sipped from foam cups
As plastic flatware is lost and found
As Cartoon Ranger doesn't listen and hurts himself
As Cyclone sighs melodramatically over the inconvenience of it all...

My kitchen is going to be lovely. A functional, efficient work of art. I am thankful and grateful. I am, truly. So if I whine here, please understand it is just because I don't like not knowing where everything is, I really don't like cooking in a microwave, and know I will adjust quickly, be happy and have fun in the random chaos that is fully half my house right now. I will.
I still have my coffee. :)

Today, our high in Southwest Florida is slated to be about 84 degrees. Still wearing sundresses, though my shoes are cream in color, not white. ;) Today, I begin a four-week Advent series for my fifth graders. A week early, but we won't be having Sunday School on December 23rd.
Today, I give thanks to God. I really have a wonderful life.

It's fall and that means squirrels hiding away nuts and all sorts of other goodies. When I pulled my ferns off the porch I found a nut shoved under a birds nest! Then last year we put up a fake witch right before Halloween. In her hat I found two nuts when we took her down. Ahh, those silly squirrels!!

Josh put the oil pan back on the "Ruck" and filled it up. We had an interesting time to get it going again. As he stated in this blog post; I was the one who sweet talked it into running again. *Giggles*
I've had my own project going on. I've been putting in insulation down in the basement and also I tore out the tiles in the kitchen.

You can see the state of the tiles. It's sad & this is how it was when we bought the house. It's not a good thing when your walking to the kitchen sink hearing your steps crack the tiles even more.

Savannah loved helping me rip up the tiles! I've been working my butt off this week sanding off the grout and prepping it so that I can put new flooring in. More pictures are to come as I continue.
I just love projects and with this house there is no shortage of that. I sure have quite a few ideas bumbling around in this noggin.
Ok- I am new to this. This is the first blog for me.... anyway- we are remodeling our house and I am so done with it. Been working on the house for a year and 5 months now. I've had a baby during this time and can you believe still trying to run my Mary Kay business? Anyway, frustration is way up there. I'm pretty sure that I would have went to a lower gear with my business since I had a baby anyway, but with the remodel it is ridiculous. I can't really have new customers come by for makeovers or anything since there are boxes everywhere and dust, dust and more drywall dust- everywhere. Thank God for my website, at least I am still attracting new customers that way (have to pay the bills).
Is anyone else out there remodeling their place?
Well, bye for now. I'm not really sure what you're supposed to do with a blog. So... bye for now!
