Rehearsal @ MindSay
Hey Family, Friends, and Fans....
I am so excited to announce the release of my new EP "Last One Standing"! This journey has been such an amazing experience for me. I had the opportunity to work with so amazingly talented people! \
So what have I been up to ? Well for one, I went to Georgia and filmed a music video. My brother and director,Vincent Carubia, did an amazing job! Me and my mom worked our asses off on wardrobe, every single day we were there. It was down to the wire and we were still sewing the black trim and lace on the tango dresses. Julio taught me some tango choreography, I only had about 2 hrs in the rehearsal studio to learn the dance. I was getting so frustrated with myself, but it sank in after a few days of not doing it. Despite the normal stresses, it was really a blast, and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat! I made alotta new friends in Georgia (Jorge,Julio, Mandee, Paul, Jasmine, Bryan, Karina)...You guys made it seriously a BLAST !
So now I'm back, and since then I have been rehearsing with the full band. I can't wait to start playing live shows again, and I REALLY can't wait for the CD release party... It will be in January sometime, so all the holidays will be outta the way :-D I have some other interesting stuff goin on right now, but I think it'd be best if I kept it hush hush till it's certain...I don't wanna jinx anything !! I will update soon :-D

BREAKTHROUGH! I have gone a few days not only without blogging, but without really spending any time online! No, it wasn't an experiment or test!
Play practice!!! lol Oh my! Have you ever made a committment before you realized the size of the committment??? I'm in negotiations now with the director as to which rehearsals are necessary for me to attend, since I cannot be at each of them! Oh ... and memorizing lines? hah! 57 lines, to be precise!
Interesting play, though. Are we all familiar with the concept of six degrees of separation? Well, the notion is based on a "Small World" experiment done by Stanley Milgram in the 80's. Six degrees of separation refers to the notion that each human being is related to any other human being by no more than six well-chosen people. In other words, between me and Joe Shmoe of Bamberg Germany, there is a chain of people - I know Sam, Sam knows Bob, Bob knows Sally, Sally knows Ginger, and Ginger knows Joe! Considering the size of the population, it's a pretty cool theory of community "connectivity". I'm guessing there are isolated tribes or people groups where this falls apart, but on the whole, it's pretty interesting.
There is a party spin-off game called Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon that relates everyone in Hollywood by no more than six people to Kevin Bacon.
Mathmatical proof (although it's Greek to me) from wikipedia:
(average number of friends per person) ^ (degrees of separation) = total population
Let f = average number of friends
Let d = degress of separation
Let p = population
f^d = p d * ln f = ln p d = ln p / ln f
So, the play ... it a bit strange, as most modern plays are to my mind, but it is also fun. I asked the prof who set me up for this why most modern literature, and especially dramas, are so ... existentialist and hopeless. We discussed the various "eras" in literature. Her theory and expectation is that we are heading into a period of greater optomism. I hope so! It's difficult to read "heavy" piece after "heavy" piece and maintain a sense of balance!
Performances are Aug 2 -4 and 9 - 11! Come one! Come all! lol

Well I haven't updated in while, so here's th scoop: The Spring Play is Once Upon a Matress, which is a musical, and I got one of the female leads(Winnifred) so I have 3 solos. Yay, but scary. ^^;
However, we have to open in three weeks and we don't even have all the major roles cast. Tomorrow is our last chance to do a complete, memorized run-through, and if we can't, the plug is pulled.
No show.
The reason for this is that we've had three weeks rehearsal and we don't even have the freaking lines memorized yet. There are some major roles without people in them, and some of the people in the leads don't seem to think this play is important enough to actually take seriously.
Almost no one is actually dedicated to the play - it's ridiculous! And the people who ARE dedicated - like Matt and Brenna and me - get to have it all ruined. This is Brenna's last chance to be in the high school play - she's graduating next year. Now she's assistant-directoring, and doing a really good job trying to keep everyone on track, and it's all going to be wasted because nobody want to make the effort.
So tomorrow is our last chance. And since no one can take a single rehearsal seriously, we're going to blow it and there will be no spring play.
I know I said I was going to start doing little comic-y blogs, and I might still, but I keep forgetting. *wanders off to sketch*
Yeah well hi.
How is ya all?
Woot to that mate!
I've had two rehearsals now for Jekyll and Hyde, its gunna rock.
I'm also going to move in with a friend of mine from school.
Provided her lease can be renewed.
We've known each other since we were 11, and we're both 20 this year.
We kinda grew up together and it's gunna rock!
Anyways... I guess that's all the news I have.
No wait...
One of my friends is getting married.
In Canberra.
So I'll be in Canberra from the 16 to the 19 and it shall rock.
So yeah...
Toodles!
Well, the band rehearsing here, which is composed of husband and friends... I like it!
