Which web hosting company?
It’s important to choose the right web hosting provider when embarking on a project to market an Internet business or company website. We have been looking into what makes an efficient hosting company, and what differences choosing a UK web hosting company would make. From our research we found that there were six areas that should be highlighted that will benefit you when choosing to host your website within the UK. Below are the areas that were looked into when carrying out our research.
• UK Connection Speed – Most servers and network hardware are connected directly to the Internet backbone in the London docklands, here they are connected to thousands of other ISP’s with a high probability that we are connected directly to your home or business broadband provider. This is a service you would not get from a web hosting company in America.
• UK Local Search Engine Results – Search engines give preference to websites that are based in the local area of the users search (In this example the UK or mainland Europe). This is based on not only owning an .UK domain name but on the IP Address of the server that the website is hosted on. If you do not have a local domain name and you pick a web hosting company outside of the UK you will not the benefit of being listed higher up the search results.
• UK Internet Traffic – The geographical position of the UK being between America and mainland Europe equates to a large proportion of Internet Traffic flowing through the UK Data Centres. Having your website located with a UK web hosting company in central geographical location will benefit traffic flows to both America and the rest of Europe.
• UK Support for your time zone – By choosing a web hosting company that is close or within your time zone you will ensure that when you require support you can receive it at a time convenient for you, not when the time difference dictates.
• UK Data centre – The UK supports some of the highest specification data centres in the world. The data centres are built to a standard that host Banks and other corporate bodies with the highest requirements, they provide the fail-safe backup required to run an uninterruptable UK Web Hosting company that will satisfy your requirements.
• UK Hardware and Support – Hardware is sourced within the UK and built to the highest specifications by well known branded retailers. With each piece of hardware you can ensure that it is monitored and looked after in such a way that your website will always be online, giving you peace of mind.
As you can see from these points, UK web hosting provides a significant advantage for your website. If you are an International company or are looking for the benefits found in our research it might be worthwhile investing in some UK web hosting. This will in turn benefit your European customers, your local search results and speed of access to your website. For more information on UK Web Hosting and Reseller Hosting.

Which domain name extension?
So you want to create a new website, and you are unsure which domain name extension to get. Don’t worry we have all been there, just yesterday a client asked me which domain extension they should register and whether they should just get everything that’s available. This solution is great if you are a large organisation and don’t mind the ongoing maintenance of these extensions. The main piece of advice I always give is to decide on your target market; if you are looking for customers in just your own country, register a local extension. This will also benefit you in local search results by being favoured by the local variant of the large search engines. If the .com version of your domain name is available, then register it if you feel that you can maintain it. This also has the added benefit of securing it before your competitors do. Domain name
A domain name is an identification label to define realms of administrative autonomy, authority, or control in the Internet, based on the Domain Name System (DNS).
Domain names are used in various networking contexts and application-specific naming and addressing purposes. A prominent example are the top-level Internet domains com, net and org.
Below these top-level domains (TLDs) in the DNS hierarchy are the second-level and third-level domain names that are open for reservation and registration by end-users that wish to connect local area networks to the Internet, run web sites, or create other publicly accessible Internet resources. The registration of these domain names is usually administered by domain name registrars who sell their services to the public.
Individual Internet host computers use domain names as host identifiers, or hostnames. Hostnames are the leaf labels in the domain name system usually without further subordinate domain name space. Hostnames appear as a component in Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) for Internet resources.
Domain names are also used as simple identification labels to indicate ownership or control of a resource. Such examples are the realm identifiers used in the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), the DomainKeys used to verify DNS domains in e-mail systems, and in many other Uniform Resource Identifiers (URIs).
An important purpose of domain names is to provide easily recognizable and memorizable names to numerically addressed Internet resources. This abstraction allows any resource (e.g., website) to be moved to a different physical location in the address topology of the network, globally or locally in an intranet. Such a move usually requires changing the IP address of a resource and the corresponding translation of this IP address to and from its domain name.

Fuck politics.
My dad is pissing me off like nothing else. When he saw how on my voter registration I didn't choose a party, he told me that I SHOULD, so that I can vote in the primaries. Then he tried to push me to get into a party. But the thing is, I don't KNOW which party I favor more. He told me to go to a website to see if I'm a democrat or a republican, but what does that have to do with issues at hand? Whether I'm one or the other, I may not hold every single view of the party I am MOST like.
I don't believe I'm educated in politics enough to vote in the primaries ANYWAYS. An uneducated vote would be an injustice to the masses of people who vote based on sound opinion based on data they've gathered. It would be like I was back in elementary school, where you vote for the class president just because you heard they'd try to make there be more pizza days, but other than that, you know nothing else.
My dad asked me what my opinion was on the Iraq war and on Bush. I told him I honestly don't know. A lot of people are irate with him, and maybe that's credible, but I haven't researched this enough to come to a decision. Maybe people will groan and give me a zillion reasons why he's a horrible president, and that's fine. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. I don't know and I won't simply believe what my family believes right away.
I told my dad I hate politics, and he said, "Why does everyone hate politics?" So I retorted, "Because of people like you." I don't share my opinions on politics with anyone I know. Ever. Family, best friends, you name it. Unless the discussion of political values is going to mean getting a good grade or life or death, then you couldn't make me talk about it. I only talk about the lightest political issues that I DO know about, that I HAVE researched and found unbiased evidence upon, and usually those are simplistic issues like abortion or gun laws.
It just seems pointless to me to try to pretend I really DO know which party I'm more like, and somewhat shortsighted to choose the party when I haven't really been immersed in the actual political world via news or magazines.
