Reflux @ MindSay

heartburn
I had surgery for my acid reflux back in august.. did not have any acid reflux till this past week,, has anyone else had any problems this long after..

I got med records and a massage. The massage was better!
Just as my almost-PCP said, the report says I have a hiatal hernia.  No mention of this to me whatsoever afterward.  I would think that this would be something you'd tell your pt.  I also found out that I had a small HH two years ago during my last EGD.  So he now has a double history of telling me I've got heartburn when it was more.  I also had mild reflux.  This is after he told me it wasn't reflux.  Both times!  I've lost confidence in my Dr.

The whole feeling of having a lump in my throat and behind my sternum are classic for HH.  Wasn't it nice of him to make think I'm crazy and it's all in my head.  Or it's just IBS.  He looked at me like I was asking for darvocet or something when I asked for a Prevacid refill.

I did get the path report for my biopsy.  I guess they were trying to figure out it if the inflammation was from infection or blocked circulation.  7 cm of very inflammed and bleeding colon really does hurt.

Disgruntled dyspepic.

Oh well, at least I had a lovely massage.  It relaxed me nicely after all my irritation of earlier in the day.

X your fingers for me
Wish me luck!  I was sooo hungry but didn't want to cook a damn thing.  It just seemed like way too much effort to make something that would prolly make me feel ill anyway.  I decided it was easier to go to the store and buy sandwich fixins and hope for the best.

I've been a label reader for quite awhile, but it's taken a whole new level of obsession now.  You wouldn't believe how much fat is in stuff.  And what's with iceburg lettuce nowadays?  It used to be green on the outside.

So, after a turkey sandwich with some baked Doritos, I'm hoping my symptoms aren't going to rage again.

An arguement this afternoon with hubby is still preying on my mind.  It upset me quite a bit and I'm sure that's not helping my awareness of my symptoms.  Stress will make you feel worse because you're more aware of what you're feeling.  This is getting so very old.  I'm sure the meds worked faster last time.

A Few Minutes

Ok, so I finally have a few minutes to myself. It has gotten to the point that if I don't get a shower at night when Dale is home I might not get one for a day or so. Everytime I get a shower while I am here with just me and the baby when I turn off the water I hear him screaming bloody murder. And everytime he had been sleeping peacefully, and well fed when I went upstairs. You can't hear the shower running from downstairs, so it wasn't that it scared him. I even have left the tv on a soft music channel, but nothing seems to work. He smells that I have left the room. LOL

Can someone tell me what's up with Aunt Flo coming to visit while I am breastfeeding? That's just not right. I've always been told if you breastfed Aunt Flo wouldn't visit. With my other 2 I supplimented with formula when I just didn't feel like wipping out the boob, so Aunt Flo always visited. I thought this time would be different. I guess it's a good thing we aren't counting on breastfeeding as birth control too cause I distinctly remember ovulating as well.

Umm yeah, about the breastfeeding...I don't know how much longer this is going to work out. First of all I just spent $50 on a breast pump, have used it twice, and now it doesn't work. I bought the Natural Comfort Double Electric/battery one from The First Years. I need to call the company and I am hoping they will offer to give me my money back, but I doubt that's going to happen. So this breastfeeding thing, it's painful. It's been 5 weeks and the pain isn't letting up much. I'm pretty sure we have latch issues. Elijah likes a little mouth full, not a lot. So that's what is painful. Then I think I am having muscle pains in my breast. They are shaped kinda funky so I have to contort them in a way so that the baby gets the nipple, and is not smoothered by the rest of it. Let's just say I am no contortionist. We are also having weight issues. Not me, that's a different story, the baby. He was born at 8lbs 7oz, left the hospital at 7lbs 13oz. That's normal. At 1 1/2 weeks he weighed 7lbs 10ozs, at 3 1/2 weeks he weighed 8lbs even, and at 4 1/2 weeks he weighed 8lbs 4oz. Now is 5 weeks 2 days and I would bet he is only just now back to his birth weight. That's not right. He does have reflux. Sometimes he keeps his whole feeding down, sometimes it all comes back up as soon as he's finished nursing, and sometimes half of it comes up right before he nurses again. Tomorrow I am going to buy some baby rice cereal and mix that in just one bottle. I would mix it with breast milk, but since my pump isn't working....it will get mixed with formula. Just for one feeding. I am in no danger of ruining my milk supply with one bottle a day. Trust me there. There is more then enough to go around for 2 or 3 babies. So I just don't want to put him on medication for the reflux, especially since the idiot military doc won't do a test to make sure that's what he has, but I want to make sure he is growing. Not to rush his growth though. That already happens too fast, just ask my 5 and 6 year olds. :D

acid reflux sux

Acid Reflux attack!!!  Ewww!  Woke up to a coughing fit and feeling like I was aspirating my stomach fluids.  It took an hour to get that feeling out of my throat and chest.  This can't be good.  Hope I don't get pneumonia or something.  Boo!
