Neat.

Work is really rather slow at the moment (watch it get really insanely busy now that I've said that... such has been my luck lately), so I've been catching up on a blog that I happened upon a year or so ago at my old job. It's a blog from a 20-something woman who's spent time living and working in Antarctica, traveling the globe, and having many adventures. From her profile:

I started this journal in March 2006 as a way to keep in touch with my family and friends during my first Winterover in Antarctica. I'm currently traveling on a 'Round-the-World ticket [Samoa - New Zealand - Argentina - Uruguay - Venezuela - Panama - Colombia - USA - Turkey - England - Kenya - Tanzania - Uganda - Rwanda - Zambia - Zimbabwe - South Africa - Australia - New Zealand] and will be returning to Antarctica this August for a Winfly/Summer season.

Sounds like a dream come true to me. The travel bug has definitely bitten me after spending time in Prague this summer, and I can't wait to plan my next adventure overseas. Just have to come up with the funds and vacation time first. ;)

Recommendation
Everyone! This is a reccomendation for my cousin, jdubb . He's new and very off kilter, but don't hold that against him. ;) Seriously though, go check him out. He's a lot of fun.

A recommendation, if I may...

Ok, so normally I would never have time to put up two entries within 12 hours of each other, but because there isn't much for me to do around home today, I can afford to be prolific Smiley

I just want to take a moment to make a musical recommendation.  I purchased this CD earlier today, and have had the pleasure of listening through it twice in the last couple hours, and I very much approve!

The band is called Flyleaf, and so is the CD.  Not recommended for the faint of ear, they rock pretty hard.  I can honestly say that this is the first female screamer I've ever heard.  It doesn't happen too often, but when it does... my goodness is there some power there!  So basically, the music is great.  The guitars are excellent, the drums are solid, and the bass does what it does best: holds it all together.  Of course, I had the benefit of listening to it on my 15" PA mains in the basement, always a plus.  But there is also some real beauty in the lyrics.  If I could share a couple of the songs:

"Perfect"

Sick of circling the same road
Sick of bearing the guilt
So open the windows to cool off
And heat pours in instead

Perfect in weakness
I'm only perfect in just your strength alone

All my efforts to clean me
Leave me putrid and filthy
And how can you look at me
When I can't stand myself

I'm tired to be honest
I'm nobody

Perfect in weakness
I'm only perfect in just your strength alone

Perfect in weakness
I'm only running in just your strength alone

I tried to kill you
You tried to save me

You save me

"All Around Me"

My hands are searching for you
My arms are outstretched towards you
I feel you on my fingertips
My tongue dances behind my lips for you

This fire rising through my being
Burning I'm not used to seeing you

I'm alive, I'm alive

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healing

My hands float up above me
And you whisper you love me
And I begin to fade
Into our secret place

The music makes me sway
The angels singing say we are alone with you
I am alone and they are too with you

I'm alive, I'm alive

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healing

And so I cry
The light is white
And I see you

I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healing

Take my hand
I give it to you
Now you owe me
All I am
You said you would never leave me
I believe you
I believe

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healed

In short, check out this record.  You'll be glad you did.

Proving once again that Brand Gamblin is the man

http://gamecoder.mindsay.com/?entry=98

Right there

gamecoder owns. His blogs are always new and interesting and that is why he is frequently on the top bloggers list. Screw mindsay recommends; Tommy recommends Brand Gamblin to go with your wheaties in the morning so that you grow up big and strong.

He once said he doesn't deserve to have a legacy.

I think if he took all his blog articles and made a book called "Memoirs of a Supreme Blogger" he would be read by generations in millinea to come. Write a book Mr. Gamblin, people need to hear what so floats upon the sea of you mind. Then you will have your legacy.

I am extrordinarily thankful to have found this excellent blog.
