Rebound Exercise @ MindSay
If your goal is to lose weight this year - whether 5 pounds or 50 - you should NOT go on a diet. Dieting fails for more than 9 out of 10 people - for two very simple reasons.
First, most "diets" focus on restricting the amount of food you eat. And unless you enjoy being in a perpetual state of hunger, you won't stick with it. Plus, by restricting calories, you send a signal to your body that you are starving. This sets off a survival mechanism that slows down your metabolism and causes your body to hoard what you eat and store it as fat. With a decreased metabolism, you're bound to regain the weight - and then some - when you begin to eat normally.
If you want to lose weight - and keep it off for life - you should eat smaller meals more frequently. And you should focus on eating more of the right foods. This will raise your metabolism naturally. It will send a signal to your body that there is no emergency - that it is okay to release fat.
So ditch the foods that add to your belly and detract from your health, and keep your kitchen (and your workplace) well stocked with nutritious foods and snacks. I make it a point to always keep fruit, yogurt, almonds, sardines, peanut butter, and celery around.
If one of your New Year's resolutions is to lose weight, don't plan to do it by dieting. Stop starving yourself ... and lose the weight forever by eating more of the foods that Mother Nature intended for you to eat and by putting your body into motion each chance that you get.

Without question, the number one reason people give for not exercising is that they have no extra time to make that trip to the gym. Millions of Americans are desperately searching for home fitness equipment that is affordable, portable, storable and efficient. The rebounder fits all of these criteria while helping you to reduce your risk of heart disease and other health problems such as osteoporosis. No matter what your physical condition, you will gain balance, agility and strength by using the rebounder for just 10-15 minutes a day. If you sit at a desk all day, rebound exercise is perfect for you.
Keeping a rebounder in your office will allow you to relieve upper-back and neck tensions and give you a burst of energy. Most weight loss programs require at least 30-60 minutes of exercise per day. However, recent studies find that sweaty, strenuous exercise just once a day jump-starts your metabolism for only a few minutes. After that, your metabolism drops like a stone and your body switches to "fat saving mode." Once this happens, your metabolism will remain at near hibernation levels for the rest of the day unless you do something to re-start it every fifteen minutes or so.
By getting on your rebounder at least once every half hour for just one to two minutes, you will elevate your metabolism to higher levels that will remain high all day. Keeping your rebounder in a room that you spend the most time in, such as the living room, your office, etc., will allow you to get on it and bounce briefly. You will cleanse your lympathic system, greatly enhance digestion and elimination and fend off those dips in energy that result in fatigue. If you fail to send your metabolism a signal every fifteen minutes to 30 minutes, it begins to shift toward fat storage and fatigue. If you can't rebound, try something as simple as taking a few DEEP breaths, stretching, or doing some arm curls. But do them at the 15-30 minute intervals throughout the day and you will be absolutely amazed at the energy levels that you achieve and sustain. Rebounding frequently throughout the day will keep your metabolism on high 24 hours a day!
Another rebounder tip: Bounce on your rebounder for a few minutes at least fifteen minutes before eating a meal, and again about half an hour after finishing your meal. You will find that your metabolism is elevated sufficiently to keep the pounds at bay. Drink plenty of ice water and/or green tea.

Quite a number of my clients and newsletter receipients have asked that I post the regular weekly rebound exercise newsletter on this blog as many of them use a feed reader and prefer to receive their newsletter that way. I will still post health and fitness messages, but will also regularly post rebound exercise news, tips, exercises and motivation. I look forward to your comments and observations.

Are you tired, depressed and just generally out of sorts more often than not? Believe it or not, one of the best possible prescriptions for depression and fatigue is exercise! Researchers have discovered that depressed patients who exercised regularly and took no medication at all, recovered from their blues just a well as the patients who took antidepressants. In fact they did better all the way around.
Even if you are not clinically depressed, regular exercise will strengthen your mental reserves against the stresses and strains of everyday life. While scientists don't understand exactly why this is, they know exercise sets in motion many chemical reactions in your body that work to your benefit. So when you're feeling overwhelmed, tried or just plain old cranky, try taking a walk or bouncing on your rebounder www.reboundtohealth.com instead of taking a nap or settling down in front of the television You'll be surprised how much calmer and in control you'll feel!
