Really Hot People @ MindSay

It's Summer Vacation (finally) here in the center of the main island of Japan, and I've already started having a great time!

My sister and nephew visited me from July 22nd (my birthday, incidentally) until July 31st. We went to Arashiyama to see the monkeys and to the aquarium at Osaka Bay and a beach in Wakayama and... well, we did a lot. But two events in particular stand out, mostly because of how similar they should be but how they ended up playing out.

We attended the Tenjin festival in Tenoji Osaka and Universal Studios Japan. Now, both of these things have a similar atmosphere, festivals and amusment parks really do have a lot in common after all. However, as a general rule I hate festivals and love amusment parks. This time around was no different.

First, Universal Studios. We attended on a lovely day, hot but not too hot. We arrived about an hour after opening, planned our standing in line pretty well (there are big signs that give wait times scattered all over the park), ate well and had a ton of fun. It wasn't super crowded or anything and the day's parades and such were pretty cool, one involving the parade folks shooting water guns at the audiance.

Next, Tenjin. Huge amounts of people fitted into tiny street, no air conditioning (it was terrifically hot), fireworks hidden behind tall buildings, main attractions (boats with lanterns and people) on a small river only visible from a bridge. As usual, there were drunk, beligerent people, and many folks were angry and annoyed. Pushing through the crowd was impossible at times, and sweaty and unpleasent all the time. Taxis were un-hailable as they were all on call constantly. It reminded me why I don't like festivals.

I'd say the biggest problem was authority. At a theme park there is an entire staff to ensure saftey and fun. They are well trained specificlly for the job and they are paid well. At a festival you get a few police officers who's hands are constantly full. They would prefer be having fun but instead they have to babysit all the drunks and stupid teenagers. The overall mood at a festival is one of frustration, especially later in the night.

I have 14 weeks left in Japan, 4 of which are still vacation. I am buying my return ticket in September for the second week of November. My last day of work will be October 31st. I don't plan on telling any of my classes, although my teachers will know because my office will inform them. With a little luck I will do a fun Haloween class with my kids and silently slip out. That'll be all. I can't wait to get home. I need to update my resume and such... and I'll be home in time for Thanksgiving too!

Hey people. Tomorrow's my grandmother's "28"th birthday and our entire family's getting together for a surprise party. I'm actually pretty excited to go. I've got two pretty hot cousins (don't say that's gross, I'm just saying that they're hot) that are going to be there, and I spent five hours making my grandmother's gift. It's kinda dumb but really cool, too. I'm not going to tell you guys what it is because it's stupid and you'll all laugh at me. Okay, fine...I'll tell you one thing: It's part of an inside joke. That's it, dude, I'm not sharing any more.

Andy's not doing so well. Patrick and I broke up (again) and my friend who's dating the guy that I like/hate (I don't know which yet) is still so deeply in love with him that it makes me want to punch someone in the face.

When you were a kid... older than a "child" but younger than a teenager?

When people knew the other, "new" meaning of the word "hot."

Did you get uncomfortable saying that word in the summer?

You'd say "I'm burning up" instead of "I'm so hot..." because your friends would go *scoff* *gasp* and *omfg*?

Then... a year later, someone would say "I'm so hot," and another person would go "In both ways, right?" *nudge nudge*

 

Just wondering. Because that's what it was like for me... I want to know how other people had it.

 

I bought the new Matt Dusk cd today.  It's heavenly. :)  He's a hottie.

 

Speaking of hot people/things, everyone in my department at work worked up a sweat by standing still today.  Our a/c wasn't working and we were boiling hot.  Ugh.  It sucked.  At least I'm not there anymore. :)

Lately, i have had a hard time communicating with people. I normally am pushing it on them to communicate, but lately i can't say anything i want to say, theres just this long blank void in sentances that should be full of words and emotion but everything has just been coming out so empty and blah. My dad died this morning @1:30am. He feel in his bathroom and that was it, he was gone. Never to see another birthday, or walk his kids down the isle at their weddings, or even to see me graduate. It's been so hard. Im holding everything in and trying so  so hard not to cry, it feels like im going to explode but i don't want to burden people with my tears. Its just too much. Im moving to a different subject...i went to Travis's basketball game tonight, it was so much fun, i saw this whole other side of him, the kinda violent side, it was hot!!!!Actually it was really HOT! WOOOOHH!!!! Well he did good in this unfair game,he had 18 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 blocks. i know how wonderful...i just love those dots...keep em coming...!Y-Teens Formal is coming up...March 4th, how fun, i hope i get a date..*hint*hint* j/k w/ ya Travis. Anyways, i can't think of anything else to blog about so Much Love!
