The Cattle Network - the Internet's leading source for all cattle news - reports that personal ID cards for cows are not far off.

One of the largest cattle feeders in the US, Five Rivers Ranch Cattle Feeding, is working with Idaho-based technology firm Southfork Solutions Inc. to develop a system to individually identify the hundreds of thousands of cattle that visit the ranch each month.

The current system whereby each animal stands in front of an ID reader whenever it comes to the feeding or water trough is just not efficient enough, and requires an accompanying paper-based tracking system.  What Five Rivers is looking to develop is an electronic identification system that will allow it to monitor the animals even at a distance.

I can't help but cry every time I think about it..

I know it's for the greater good, but my mom and I were extremely close, I don't know any mom and daughter pairs who are as close as we are.  My mom will be hundreds of miles away in California, to tell the truth I'm kind of jealous.  My mom's sister and my mom's godchildren will be able to see my mom more than she will see me :(

My mom's tattoo says, "God will give me justice." from the book The Count of Monte Cristo, and for her going away present, I got her a copy, copyright 1911, I know she will love it, even my dad was amazed that I would spend that much money on a book, but it is truly the feelings behind it.  My dad and brother thought is was a grand idea to get the book, I hope she loves it and reads it (carefully!) on the plane :)

But...I will miss my mom's hugs, and being able to watch TV shows together, going shopping for clothes, going out (just us) to each lunch or dinner, crying together, laughing together, making normal conversation into opera sonatas when we were home, planting lilies in the beautiful garden at the house she just now sold.  Her being herself with the fiery Irish showing, I don't know what I would do with a 'normal' mom, all I know is it would be extremely boring.

Here's to you, Mom, I'll miss you.

MDreamer727 [15:22]:  just because he moved it doesn't mean that them dating isn't a possibility. she obviously knows u like her and if u ask me she is using that against u to try n get u to buy her drinks n stuff when u go out but then for some reason gets a kick out of tryin to make u jealous with other guys. if she was really into u then she would spend time alone with u believe i know a girl who did this to a guy n girl a sounds like she's doing the exact samr thing
