Books to read!

Today I read the book Twilight by Stephanie Meyer.

I loved it so much that I finished it in a day! You should DEFINITELY read this. It was soooo romantic.

<< I can't wait to read the next book in the series. Heehee. Apparently there is another one coming called Eclipse. Can't wait!

My secret love affair
I have been involved in a love affair since I was very young. Today, my conquests total in the thousands.

It all started when I was very young, before I could read. My dad would read to me before I went to sleep at night. Since 90% of my time was shared with an abusive, neglectful mother...this was sweet nurturing indeed. When I started school I asked almost everyday (for 180 days), "Is today the day we learn to read?" The teacher would then very politely reply everytime..."In Kindergarden you learn the letters and their sounds, but you won't actually learn to start reading until 1st grade."

I love the smell of books and libraries...old books and old libraries smell even better. I have an early printed edition of The Catcher in the Rye.

When I rented my first apartment my sister was complaining about all of the heavy boxes (containing books) she had to help me move. The apartment was a dump, but it had so much character...and built-in book shelves. She asked why I needed all those books. And I said, "Someday I'll have my perfect house with a room with tall built-in book shelves and the room will be filled with books, and I'll be able to say I have read all of those books"...she sighed and said "I'll never be able to say that."

In my current place...which is very small. It is not at all as I pictured it all those years ago. I don't have a room with ceiling to floor book shelves that is just for books...I have books on the shelf in the living room. I have books of all genres. I have books stacked in the hallway. I have books stacked near my bed. I have books in the living room. I even have books in the bathroom...I'm not in there long enough, so that is where all my quotes books are...This does not take into account all the books I have packed away in storage. And I never sold back any of the books I bought for school, so I have those. Then there are all the new books. And the books yet to be purchased and read.

I usually am in the process of reading about five different books at one time...I think I might have a problem, LOL!

Last Post Until Sunday! Where R U? I'll miss You and Poetry?

Howdy Howdy all?! Okay, I have some serious personal thoughts first but then a funny video follows so bear with me.

Well I am going to Mississippi tonight and will be there until Sunday so enjoy your loved ones. I know that I will for one be working on the research papers I have yet to finish while I am in the country. I will also think about what Thanksgiving might mean to be in the broader sense of things. You know not just the Turkey and Dressing/ Decimation of indigenous people sorta way, but in the the very meaning of the compound word separate from fragments of our Nation's history.  I wonder who I might be if I were in another place emotionall, spiritually and pyhsically. My geography affords me the opportunity to lament the frivolous and sweat the small stuff.

I am grateful to be able to do that but also recognize that I am not making the changes I wanted to make.

The passion necessary to make my goals a reality in a time sensitive sort of way means that I have to press the pedal in a big way.

Not to say that I have no patience, on the contrary, I tend to be quite patient but I think that I may sit and wait too much or too long in some cases. I worry all the time about waiting for my life/career to start instead of pushing a little more.

But in the context of some situations maybe patience is the right tack right? Sure it is but what about when it is time to make a decisive move? How do you get past the fear of failure?

Well maybe we don't truly get past it but manage it by managing our lives in spite of that fear.

Oh well, enough musing how about a video of Myclette doing impressions? Ah the hilarity. We also spy a hot cop that was in the diner at that hour. Uhm there is a problem with the video and the it doesnt really sync up with the sound...I tried to fix it but meh...

How about some poetry....here goes....(Have a great week) Okay now this poem is amazing to me for so many reasons. First off it reads like an anecdote or off hand story an old friend might tell about a childhood sweetheart or on another level like a grandparent about a grandchild. It is really quite beautiful. I read it once and thought of my nieces the again and thought of someone I am interested in romatically and man...just read it at least twice....

Sky writing

I know a girl who can read skies like novels,
can understand that filigree of brilliance, one hand
held up feeling it like Braille: for her
an open window is a monograph
and glass a fabulous retelling. She says
that rain is always heartfelt, fog
a gripping read and walks, palms upward,
smiling, in the sleet. Some days
I call to find her sitting on the roof
engrossed, unpicking the errata of a jet stream
or considering interpretations in a mirror.
She sits outside for weeks on end in summer
and says she'll teach me someday. But I
don't know quite where to start, so mostly
I just pour the tea and watch her read.
Lately, though, she has been standing
in high places. I'm afraid one day
I'll find inside a minaret or spire
a pair of her unneeded shoes, and then I'll know
she's gone to scrawl her thoughts on the ionosphere
trailing vapour like Saturn Five, leaving her mark
among the bright calligraphy of clouds.--Meirion Jordan

i hope i didn't chew you up too badly before spitting you out.

I've read this book several times. It's touched me in a variety of ways. It has been one of my favorites since discovery.

I picked it up, began reading it again the other day. Suddenly, like a burst of cool, fresh air, understanding rushed at me and I completely and totally began to read the book in another perspective, an altogether objective one. I read on, of course, familiar details and doomed hope, empathy, commiseration (good God, sweet women, girls, with their sweet faces and flaming, deceitful tongues!) and disgust, depravity.

It has occurred to me that since cutting out my own debauchery I've again become very sensitive to such material and matter. In a sense, I feel as if I've become less jaded in the past few months - not only stopping forward motion (one partner, limited contact with the outside world) but other forms of deviation also, and growing less and less accustomed to dealing with it. I'm hardly a blushing virginal petal, but the point in time where sex and mania and all manner of vice was my way of life seems to be over. Never again to wallow in hedonistic delights, one excess after another.

"It's time to be a real human being."

I was a monster before. An ashamed, cowering, unaware monster.

THANK YOU ALL!!! Thank you MINDSAY!!!
So, how better to return to the most entertaining method of communication and spiritual release than you begin with a thank you to all Mindsayers who wished me a happy birthday!

It was great even though it kind of sucked that I had to study for a mid-term today but given the well wishes from everyone, here and on MsDania's blog, it just gave me the chance to relax and calm down before a stressful exam.  So...

THANK YOU!!!

I wanted to also include some information about myself in case some people are new to ... well, ME!

I like to read, and I mean I like to read.  Give me a novel based on science fiction, history, horror, mystery and so many more genres and I will read it.  I have a collection of Anne Rice novels, Stephen King novels, Dan Brown novels, and a selection of other must reads.

I am currently an accountant in training.  Yes, seems boring but it is more than just numbers, it is about stock markets and financing (like mortgages and loans... many of which I believe I will need), it is about learning about how people react to information and be able to assist in being able to use it.  I am more than an accountant, I am a consultant, a financial analyst, a business analyst, an internet assessor and network analyst.  An accountant at heart, but a jack of many trades!

I collect comic books.  Okay, seems childish for a 21 year old but, with my accounting background, I know this is a good investment.  But also, I like all the stories!  I collect prominently Superman comics, but will get the occasional side story as well.  I also have a collection of action figures, statues and other collectibles that come to a rather large amount of the moola!

I watch a long list of shows:
  • Smallville
  • Lost
  • Supernatural
  • Heroes
  • The Nine (may stop if plot is lacking)
  • Deal or No Deal (some people like it, some people hate it, all i care for is Howie Mandell!)
  • Miami Ink
  • Dog The Bounty Hunter (Just fun to watch him run around getting angry and screaming then trying to get friendly with the people he caught)
  • Gene Simmons Family Jewels
  • Chris Angel Mindfreak
  • And on and on and on......
I am a libra and I like long walks on beaches, under the moonlight, with the waves touching our feet as we walk.... wait wrong type of online post! Ooops!

But, I think that I will cut this short before I go on too long...

I just want to say a special thank you to MsDania.  Thank you for giving me the opportunity to get a special happy birthday wish from so many people online.  This is a great community to just talk about anything and you are a part of it as well

I love you angel, thank you for being there for me!

I love you Mindsay and everyone on it! Thank you for the warm wishes!

Type to you all later,

MrGenio
