Rangers @ MindSay

Kansas City beats Texas by a score of 6-2 Thursday night. The victory moves KC's record to 53-67. Alex Gordon hit his 11th homer of the year. John Buck drove in 3 runs with a double in the 8th inning. He has 43 RBI for the season. The Royals will travel to Oakland for a series against the A's. 

The Royals took out the Rangers 10-0 yesterday. The victory gave K.C. a three game sweep of Texas. The royals outscored Texas 22-6 in the series.

 

Leo Nunez pitched 6 scoreless innings for the victory. David DeJesus and Tony Pena Jr. both drove in three runs. The Royals, who have a four-game winning streak, will travel to Minnesota to take on the Twins.

Nolan Ryan. The Ryan Express is 60 years old today. He is one of my favorite baseball players of all time. Ryan's career started in the '60s with the Mets and ended with the Rangers in the '90s. He is probably most remembered for his time with the Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers. He also pitched for the California Angels in the '70s.

 

You may remember his 324 career wins, his 7 no-hitters or his 5,714 strikeouts. My favorite moment of Nolan Ryan's career has nothing to do with any of those things. My favorite memory of Ryan is when he hit Robin Ventura with a pitch. Ventura got the crazy idea to run out to the mound and attack Ryan.

 

Ventura was in his 20s and Ryan was probably either 38 or 39 years old at the time. Ryan quickly got Ventura in a head lock and then repeatedly punched him in the face. Despite that incident, Ryan's picture should be in the dictionary under "sportsmanship." He was a fierce competitor who never backed down.

the power rangers would be a great social study. i always wanted to be the red one but that one is a boy. so i think... i will be the pink one. cuz, that one's a girl. and then the pink one and the red one will have an affair and it'll be superhot. i wouldn't be the yellow one. that one never gets any action, probably because it's usually one of the multiracial people... ah. the political correctness of childrens television.
