List of things achieved...

I decided to make the list of the things that I indeed achieved during this break… to reassure myself, I suppose….

-         I rested from my super-tiring pre-break week.

-         Went downtown to purchase Xmas gifts… in the very last minute, but I did!

-         Finished one of my knitting projects… I haven’t got a picture of myself wearing it yet, but it is done…

-         Knit together the biggest part of a wedding quilt… there are still some sides missing and the batting and backing to add, but it shouldn’t take too long… I HAVE to finish it soon though, so that H. can hand-quilt it before the end of May.

-         Knitted half of a cool sweater for myself. I hope it will be finished soon so that I can wear it!

-         Prepared a whole lesson on PowerPoint, it should last 3 or 4 hours (which is 2 weeks of work for those classes).

-         Went jogging 3 times, I did not go today… unfortunately…

I still have tons of things to do! So, I’m off!

Bat quilt & next project
Bat quilt completed!  Didn't take very long either.  The bats weren't nearly as difficult to quilt on as the guitars were.  It is nice and cozy to sleep under, and I think it will get good use.  I shall post pictures of both later this week as soon as I'm able to take some good shots.

I do have quite a wish list of quilts I'd like to make, but I need to figure out either what pattern to make, or what fabric to use.  On my list of to-dos is a book quilt for my mom, and one for my other half, who has yet to receive one of his own.

So who's next.  I pick....Nomad!  You had asked, and if you like a more modern quilt, I'm up for the challenge.  I have an idea in my head, but I'm not sure if our visions will mix or match.  I see something similar to the bat quilt in terms of a "pattern" but using bright large bold floral print (ala Marimekko - but their fabric can get way expensive) and I'm picturing it in bright orange and red.  This would be an excellent collaboration project!  Drop me an email (or maybe we can Skype - it's been awhile!!!) and we can discuss!

Too much works ends up with quilting...

I worked so much last week, even though I was on a break, that I ODed on it! lol... Seriously, I had too much of it...

So, yesterday I decided to take a day off... especially because I’m going back to school on Thursday, and that I haven't really had time to rest from the pre-break exhaustion.

So, instead of working, I decided to finish quilts that had been in progress since July... All I needed to do, basically, was add the batting and backing to them... I had 3 to finish, I did 2. I may post pictures of them later. I might finish the third one tonight...

After that, I have a wedding quilt to put together and finish before H. hand-quilts it. I don't know when I’ll finish that, but I need to do it soon.

My plans for this afternoon, however, are to prepare tests and lessons for my classes...
That was a hell of a “one-day break!”...”, say I, sarcastically…

WIP Bat quilt
Here are the three fabrics that I'll be using on the front of the bat quilt...

But keep in mind the gray will only be about a 1" stripe in the middle and the binding around the edge.

The back I'd like to be this fabric:

with this fabric as an accent somewhere:

Not entirely abandoned...
So yes, I finished the guitar quilt this summer.  It looks awesome.  It's used nightly.  All are happy.

But of course, now it's Halloween time.  This means it's time for bats.  I love bats.  Even though I once had an encounter with one in my apartment on Hallows Eve, I still think they are cute.  Especially silly cartoony looking ones.  So...  my next plan is to create a "bat quilt".  This is my grand idea anyhow.  I was thinking of creating a spin off on one the designs from The Modern Quilt Workshop (much like I did with the guitar quilt), but I think I'll be crazy and do something simple like Denyse Schmidt's "A Day at the Beach"  Well, whatever direction I decide to go in regards to the piecing (I'm beginning to think that DS's Beach would be the best way to go), I do know that I want the quilting to be rows of bats.  Ooh!  Title already in my head...

I'm thinking that the front will be shades of black/white/gray.  The backing I may piece together, but would love to include some fun Halloween print fabric.  So excited!  I love the planning phase!  I can't wait to get started...
