RED FLAGS SHOULD BE GOING UP OVER PUTIN’S ANGER

The old KGB fox and current President of Russia flamed Secretary of State Rice and Secretary of Defense Gates in negotiations to find a common ground on a missile protection system the US is offering to build in Poland and the Czech Republic as a counter measure to a potential Iranian missile attack.

The quickly fading ally Russia views the Missile Defense Umbrella as a threat to Russian missiles, meaning in old Cold War terminology the erasing of the Mutually Assured Destruction deterrent between Russia and Europe/America.

I mean Putin is furious! Now this begs the question: Why would a Missile Defense Umbrella which potentially even aid in protecting Russia from long range Iranian missile infuriate Putin?

Let us speculate a little.

Could it be that Russia is clandestinely aiding Iran build a nuclear arsenal with some kind of secret mutual defense pact? I mean Russia openly has provided nuclear technology to Iran. Russia has provided military arms to Iran. Russia is back to pushing the envelope on British air space. Russia is attempting to control any resources in the Arctic North Pole region.

Do all these act sound or look like the practice of a Western allies? Is Russian democracy based on the Western model devolving back to Russian despotism?

I am just speculating now; however there is the appearance of a Russian/Iranian secret pact that a Missile Defense Umbrella might just screw up.

Then there is on last question for you readers to speculate on an answer: What is Chinas agenda in regard to Russias antics and Irans increasing belligerence as the West allows Iran to become a nuclear power? Hmm ???

Lobster Summit.
Bush is seeking Putin's help in putting Iran under economic sanctions at a brief summit in Kennebunkport.  If the Iranians are buying weapons and trying to get uranium from Russia, what's wrong with this picture?  More importantly, I'd like to see the taxpayer tab for whatever we are going to offer Putin to stop doing business with Iran.

Leadership.

Forget the disastrous policies like pre-emptive military strikes, torture, suspension of habeas corpus (the right to be charged with a crime if held under custody). The Bush Administration is so foolish, weak, and amateurish that they can't stand fast during diplomatic disputes.

Like a fool, Bush is butting heads with the KGB lifer Vladomir Putin, who Bush says he "looked into his soul," because Bush wants to put missile-defense systems in formerly Soviet countries Poland and Czechoslovakia.

Nice claim here:
State Department spokesman Sean McCormack reiterated the US position that the missile defence system is not aimed at Russia and invited the Russians to participate in the programme.
Yeah, they want the missiles to defend against Iran and North Korea.

I've never heard anything more absurd. If Poland needs protection against North Korea (one of the poorest nations in the world), then why haven't we pre-emptively invaded them, too? It's 4,500 miles from N. Korea to Hawaii; it's 4,704 from Pyongyang to Warsaw.

Has there ever been a modern foreign policy more based on fear, anxiety, and sophomoric posturing?

stupidest quote on the earth in the universe for all time
Vladimir Putin says Global Warming is good for Russia. Just thought you would want to know.

Putin: the Next Russian Czar?

It is quite a leap by Melissa Charbonneau to analyze Putin's motives as to be the next Czar of Russia. Putin's political heritage as former head of the defunct Soviet Union's KGB is Communism and totalitarianism. I am fairly certain Putin would be disgusted at the thought of a monarchical Czar being re-established. The Czar represented everything that Marxist-Leninism hated passionately.

On the other hand Melissa Charbonneau has hit the nail on the head that Putin may wish to establish a transformed Stalinist Russian State. Putin says he supports Democracy; however he supports Democracy under a Russian heritage rather a Western idealism. This is an indication of some kind of combination of Russian autocracy (Czarist and Communist) with some kind of transformed privilege for the citizens of the state. Such a transformed State would be more reminiscent of 19th Century Prussia or Fascist Italy.

There is one certainty; Putin enjoys huge popular support among his Russian citizenry. There is a revised political/constitutional structure in place to perpetuate Putin's reign and rule. Russian people support Putin's vision of a Russian democracy that places security above all other institutions.

Russia is definitely emerging as something less than the West had hoped.
