A Response to Threat

"He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor the arrow that flieth by day." (Psalm 91:4-5)

On this day we remember the unprovoked attack on America by Muslim terrorists. Despite attempts to make the country more secure, the threat remains scarcely abated today. What should the Christian's response be? In our text above, we see that we have no cause for fear. The physical danger may be real, but our Lord promises protection in tender words likened to a mother bird's care for her young. Our ultimate deliverance is guaranteed by His sure promises. Trust in His power and truth sustains us as surely as would a shield and buckler.

Our hope cannot ultimately rest in mere military might. God does not promise temporal safety to all, for there have been millions who have succumbed to undeserved violence. Our last hope is of a different order, firmly grounded in "the LORD, which is my refuge" (v. 9). He responds to our trust and worship with the promise "With long |better translated as 'eternal'| life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation" (v. 16). Much more interested in our response to troubles than in our deliverance, He desires us to believe and serve Him, all the while trusting Him, even in perilous times.

A New Testament application of this principal can be found in 1 Peter 3:14: "if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled." The remedy? "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear" (1 Peter 3:15).

The Lord Jesus Christ is Himself our example and inspiration. "For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds" (Hebrews 12:3). Fixing our eyes upon Him, we have no cause for fear. JDM

Now that the Supreme Court has finally gotten off its butt and given the people of the District of Columbia their constitutional right to own firearms in their homes without fear of arrest perhaps crime and murders might come down now. For over 30 some years District residents weren't allowed to own a handgun or shotgun legally for that matter, any type of firearm. Those who did had to have it unloaded and locked and kept in a safe place. My question has always been, what happens when the burgular or robbers attempts to breakin ? Do you tell him to wait while you fine the ammo to load it or let me find the key to unlock it ? Only Law enforcement officers are allowed to carry weapons in the District, not only that, there are many SPO's Special Police Officers in the District working on Government jobs that have arrest powers but no weapons and those who do are only allowed to carry 38 cal. revolvers. Whats my point here ? 

1. The police don't protect you and your family from harm  you do. They can only respond after the fact. Until something happens they'er hepless in helping you/us. Mayor Fenty tried tirelessly to get this case through the Court, he wants all guns out of the District. He feels there's no need, and yet DC is like a war zone. Anytime you have 8 people killed in a nine hours, you have a crime ridden city. This was just one weekend.

2. Restricting  your ownership of your choice of weapons is another means of control. Meaning you don't get to own a semi automatic weapon.

3. The old law as far as having weapons in your home will be illegal for 21 days until the Metro PD has come up with the propper registration forms and fees.

4. There will be no carry permits issued to private citizens, you can only own a firearm for the home not carry, citizens may feel just a little safer now. In the State of Va, people a have right  to carry  permits, and crime is down.

5. We as citizens need to look at our constitutional rights under the second ammendment and paay close attention. We barely won this on in the highest court in the land. 5 to 4, it seems we have 4 justices who wish to rewrite the constitution their way. If we aren't careful all gun owners will have their weapons taken away just like they have in England, and look at that country plum wild and off the hook with crime.

6. Criminals have better weapons then the police beleive it or not.

okay is it news to anyone that teenagers have roaring hormones and a biological timer that says "Go for it" ?  Historically this was handled by having young adults married or off and ready to reproduce around 15-16. If you were royal maybe by 13-14. But America has delayed social maturity and expects the biology to follow suite because it's convenient and also because american teenagers are not in a very good position to take on the responsibilities of parenthood, homemaking and  maybe even owning a car. But the juices start pumping anyway. So unless we , as a society, are going to chaperone teenagers everywhere or sewing them into padlocked chastity garments........ well they are going to have sex. I became sexually active at age 16, my younger sister before she started her periods. And let me tell you that once a young person starts having sex they do not STOP. should I say this again? THEY DO NOT STOP. yet schools and churches and even colleges emphasize abstainence. OMG. what a joke. We are pushing a biological boulder up a hill and doing worse that sisuphus.

I propose that all american childlren begin sex education bebfore the third grade and well before puberty they understand the biology , the urges and ways to handles their sexual feelings. There are a world of sexual things that teens can do short of intercourse. we had something called technical virginity whereby one did everything but.... of course that was only a delaying tactic because it just got everyone hotter. They need to be taught that masturbation is a reasonal outlet for urges, they need to know about hand jobs and humping and they need MOST OF ALL to inderstand the advantages and disadvantages to becomeing sexually active.

And then we need to teach them all the watys they can protect themselves from disease and pregnancy.  and that information should be as over prpesent as the sexy marketing used to entice them to buy products they don't need. ANd then it should be made available to them no questiojns asked.

Of course I would want the chance to discuss the choices my teen or preteen is amking about sex but how many parents let alone teens feel comfy having that conversation and can do it without judgement. everyplace teens hang out should have safe peple to talk to and safe people who can hep them get the protectioon they need to prevent pregnancy and disease and the agony shame  pain and even death that accompanies our refusal to talk about something so primal.

Sex isn't going away folks and I am tired of seeing young people hurt by their natural biological drives because the adult world wants to keep their head in the sand. Thank you for ready this. Our regular show can now resume
