I recently started a second job. Much like the first, its customer service. And with customer service, comes the lovely feeling of becoming nothing more than a thing in front of people. they only acknowledge you when necessary, how fun! anyways, its interesting because you see the different types of people. An example today was while stocking the apples at work I saw a narcicist; walking around with his nose in the air, dressed to impress and the whole bit.
Another thing that struck me is how many people are willing to express their faiths. I remember ringing through a lady at the photolab, she ended up buying a expensive digital camera. used her mastercard and when I gave her the slip to sign I sarcastically asked her to "sign here to sell your soul to credit", she just looked at me and smiled, saying "no thanks, God already owns it". Taken aback a bit by her forwardness, I smiled back and finished, telling her to have a good day and that it would be blessed.
A similar happening occured today while in produce. lady walked up and asked a question, kind of in some broken syntax (much like how I speak when nervous, for those of you who know me). She corrected herself and as I showed her where it was she stated "Well, God understands what I mean. He knows we're a bit messed up".
It's not all christians either, while working someone said something about on of the laws of bhuddism to me, something about one of the principles of bhuddism, that everything is transient.
All this simply got me thinking of prespectives again, because I'm a nutjob that thinks that we all can live happier and more carefree lives if we simply looked at things the way he does. It got to the point where I said, "screw it, I may as well write a book or something about all this". So I think maybe I will take a stab at it. at the very least, be something to keep me out of trouble.
So after coming to this conclusion I started to look at the thinga around me, trying to figure out metaphors for faith and what not, but the I came to the conclusion that writing about the people I encounter will be enough. I've said it before, I can see a bit of God in these people- these wonderful creations of his.
Although... I can't help but wonder what part of god I am to see in a man jumping out of a giant freezer with a piece of corn tied to his head and a broom yelling "PRODUCE WARRIOR! RAWR~!" ...
...yea, this job is a keeper.
I'll post more on this as I collect my thoughts into something more meaty.
