The "presidential line of succession" defines who may become or act as President of the United States upon the incapacity, death, resignation, or removal from office (by impeachment and subsequent conviction) of a sitting president or a president-elect.

President-elect Obama doesn't have his entire cabinet picked out yet, but from what he has given us to work with and with some pure speculation on my part, let's take a look at who could possibly become the leader of our nation should something awful happen.
1. President - Barack Obama
2. Vice President - Joe Biden
      The pride of Scranton. Mrs. Biden's baby boy Joe is known for being excessively long-winded in his speeches. He also supports reinstating the Federal Assault Weapons Ban and voted to ban semi-automatic firearms.  
3. Speaker of the House - Nancy Pelosi
      Called for the denouncement of China and voted in favor of keeping the travel restrictions for Americans to Cuba. Pelosi also voted for the use of federal funds (read: taxpayer money) to perform abortions in overseas military facilities. Also among her voting record: FOR the 2008 Bailout, FOR the Patriot Act, For No Child Left Behind, FOR increased Medicaid & Medicare, AGAINST drilling in ANWAR. She is also a supporter of amnesty & rights to illegal immigrants.
4. Secretary of State - Hillary Clinton
      Power hungry Hillary. Universal healthcare. Somehow being the First Lady gives her a lifetime of experience...
5. Secretary of the Treasury - Tim Geithner
      President of the NY Fed, which is an illegal & unconstitutional institution. His grandfather was an adviser to President Eisenhower & coincidentally the vice president of Ford Motor Company. Played a role in the decision to bailout AIG.
6. Secretary of Defense - Robert Gates
      Replaced Rumsfeld in 2006 under Bush. President-elect Obama has offered him the position under the new administration and Gates has supposedly accepted.
7. Attorney General - Eric Holder
      If approved, Holder would be the first black Attorney General. He served under Janet Reno in the Clinton administration.

Following those already mentioned would be the Sec. of the Interior(Sally Jewell/John Kitzhaber), Sec. of Agriculture(Tom Vilsack), Sec. of Commerce (Bill Richardson), and the Secretary of Labor.

I don't think America has ever had to go past the Vice President and since JFK the succession list hasn't been needed at all. But just in case you were wondering... there it is.

The Beautiful candidate always wins, because we have to look at them for 4 to 8 years straight.

Ronald Reagan beat Walter Mondale.
Ronald Reagan beat Jimmy Carter.
All old white dudes for sure.
ButRonald Reagan was an ACTOR. He had already been deigned by society as one of the Beautiful People.
He looked great on TV, hit is mark, and read his lines correctly.
Really, what more could you ask from a President?

Bill Clinton beat George H.W. Bush.
Bill Clinton beat Bob Dole.
Easy choice. Bill was young, tall and handsome compared to these old dudes.
He even played a bit of saxophone on a late night talk show.
Too bad he took advantage of his Beautiful People status and raped, seduced and sucked his way throughout his career.

George W. Bush beat Al Gore
George W. Bush beat John Kerry.
That was a close one. Two tall, young handsome guys. But Al Gore was stiff as a board and couldn't make a casual statement if he was on fire. George W. Bush was relaxed, funny, has great stories to tell and likes to tell them. He beat Al Gore by being... normal. He beat John Kerry because John Kerry looks like a horse. AND he couldn't make a casual statement if he was on fire.

Barak Obama vs. John McCain
Look what the Sarah Palin did to John McCain's presidential hopes the day she was unveiled. Clearly one of the beautiful people, she dominated every TV and Print space for a weeks. After 5 children, she is still gorgeous. And she can shoot. How hot is that? Then we got to know her.

Barak will win because we like looking at him.
And his wife is totally gorgeous.
So is John McCain's. But that's just creepy.

As I'm sitting here like 20 minutes away from the 2nd of 3 debates between these candidates, I only have one simple request.  Please refrain from the use of the word "Maverick" for one night.  That's all.  Just one.  I'm just saying I need a little break. I mean after the first 2 debates and watching SNL for the past couple of weekends, I just assume not watch Top Gun, my beloved Cavaliers vs. Dallas, or that ridiculously good western by the same name for a very long time.  If they do choose to use it however, I am reluctantly, yet eagerly prepared for the maverick drinking game.  I know where my six (make that five) pack is.  Do you?

How does any presidential candidate really think that banning abortion will be a success?
Alcohol was banned for 13 years I think? and that was a waste of time

It has been around for too long - women have every right to make that decision and who is the government to take that away?
It's going to only cause more medical problems for women who throw themselves down steps or worse.

I heard about a woman who didn't know she was pregnant until about 2-3 months in, but she had taken acid within that time as well as ecstasy. She made the decision to not have the child and I think that is completely the right one. What if she had this child and it had birth defects? She will have that guilt on her for the rest of her life and also depriving that child. What if you were accidentally pregnant and you barely have the funds for yourself - how are you going to be able to support 2 people? I think in cases where you're considering the life of the child - it is completely okay to choose abortion.

and how can someone support the death penalty and also believe minors who commit violent crimes should be prosecuted as adults - but allow abortion?
