Obsessions & Annoyances
I can stop fretting about starting UCAS application late now. I took advantage of the time in tutorial, had a mooch about on the university website, then started filling out my application forms.
Naturally, I can't fill all of it in yet, for I'm lacking all the codes and signitures - but I did all that I could do. I even made a FIRM POINT of writing DIXIE in my preffered name box. Hmmm, I'm not going through any more years of education with my tutors calling me a name I despise.
Sarah let us go early, so in this 1-hour gap - I went into the LRC - went up to the 3rd floor and started writing more of my scripts. I was mainly finishing off the Abigail film sequence script. I managed to get it all written, divided up and colour-coded - then Lewis came and found me.
We were proper late for Media Studies, so we ended up sat right at the back so we couldn't even see the frigging whiteboard. We had to watch that shitty Location, Location, Location clip where Middlesbrough was voted Britain's #1 worst town - then pick out the representational codes. It was tedious, but not exactly difficult.
Photography was a bit of a wasted effort. We practically came in for nothing because Paul wasn't even in. So I spent the lesson writing out more scripts - currently, I'm that obsessed with RCP and all my ideas, I can't keep them off my mind for longer than 20 minutes. It's horrible. More so because I'm going to have to wait at least a fortnight before we get to film anything.
I was annoyed in Film Studies.
Was mint though - Anne Marie set us off, she told us to come up with our own idea for a film, then we had to make a poster about it, noting narrative, characters, iconography and the rest. Naturally, this was just an excuse to ponder more into the film sequence I had planned - so my poster was all about Abigail.
I even decorated it with some little "items of iconography" - razors, knives, gravestones, broken glass, walking cane, wheelchair, blood, matches and candles. Then I drew little portraits of Abigail and Jonathan. They were so fucking epic - I wanted to keep my poster, but they were going on the wall... :(
Conway asked to see it, once she'd caught a glimpse. I wasn't arsed about showing her, but I didn't want to read out my ideas to everyone, so Anne Marie did it for me. Mwah.
So, I have a kindergarten/first grade area, and of course, those really big picture, bright color, little kid knowledge posters (opposites, shapes, numbers, etc).
How are they arranged on my wall?
MUSICALLY, of course!
Musically?
Yes. I decided they hang in this order: ABC poster and then 123 poster, because the Jackson Five song says, "ABC...easy as 123...".
And THEN (no and then! :)) it's the poster about colors, and the poster about shapes.
...because I love the Foo Fighter's album 'the Colour and the Shape'.
Glad it's all about the teaching, eh? :)
*Just got alerted that my break area is a fire hazard. The woman who's been doing this for 13 years and picked it out of course didn't think of that. It's always something.

Posters, Cakes & Looming Days Ahead
After last night's bloody epic dream (note the blog below, it was beasty so I wrote it as a separate blog) - mam woke me up by putting Canis Canem Edit down on the desk next to my head.
So now we're awaiting 2 games. :)
I opened it up, checked the disc - it's in good nick, there's no scratches on it at all. :)
It even came with a poster. So now I have two Bully posters. This one is lengthways, of Mr Hattrick and a nerd character. I put it up on the wall. I just need to find somewhere else for my Mewtwo and Charizard poster. I'll put it near my bed, methinks.
Mam brought back a big box of chocolate fairy cakes from nana's. She'd bought them for Sunday but I didn't go, so she sent them here for me. They're really good. :)
Mam had brought back nana's dodgy PC speakers for me to test out. They work okay on my PC, so it must be something to do with nana's PC, not the speakers themselves.
I tried playing Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat.
I marked it down as Null on the Backloggery. I'll never complete it.
One, because I'm shit at it, and two, because it's so shit, it's not even worth playing. I hate the controls, the levels are too repetitive and irritating, and I just can't be arsed with shitty games. :)
I did attempt it though. I got just under half-way in. Maybe one day I'll give it another chance. We'll see.
Then I did a few missions on Shadow The Hedgehog.
It's a real challenge compared to the likes of Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. It's fairly harder than both.

I have to go into college tomorrow for the A2 induction day.
Sigh... Dixie is not looking forward to that. It's sort of dwelling on her mind.
I entered the Flight of the Conchords Really Arty poster search tonight. I put a lot of thought and effort into these images and hope they will fit the bill. The idea I had for the first poster image was one I drew before, a vision of the guys as late 18th century romantic poets and it's an idea, I've noticed so far, that no other fan has yet conceived. The second poster image was actually the first one I drew, aiming for a more contemporary urban style. I wanted to show how Bret and Jemaine can be carried around like pets or slave boys who live inside a boombox. But I'm not sure I captured it right. So I predict that my more romantic vision of Flight of the Conchords will win me the most recognition.
Before Bret and Jemaine will judge who the winner will be, I first have to meet the approval of the sponsors and if one of my entries is one of the final 10, the lads will actually see it themselves and vote whether or not I make it. I don't often enter contests because I've had my fair share of rejection and haven't won any art contests since I was 11 years old! Even if I don't win, I will say this: I really had a fun time drawing Bret and Jemaine. They are very easy on the eyes.
It would be a dream come true if I win. I've always wanted to provide a band with images that are uniquely form or accentuate their image and convey on paper the spirit of their music. If I'm clever enough of an artist, you will be able to look at what I've drawn and "see" what the music sounds like. I get very inspired by the music I listen to and can sit and dream up many different images, but will a creation of my own ever get selected by my favorite musicians?
*fingers crossed* Wish me luck! And feel free to send me your thoughts and impressions.
