Last night I watched an episode of
Dead Like Me; second episode of season 2 to be exact. The underlying theme of this episode was theft. Among the many thefts in the episode, Post-It notes were being stolen from Happy Time. This is fitting, as Post-It notes play a large part in the mythology of the show. But that is off-topic and I digress.
I got to thinking... who steals Post-It notes? I mean, really? You can get a few hundred of those buggers for $1. I know taking office supplies is pretty common, but Post-Its? Take some nice pens or, if you can manage it, a color laser printer. But Post-It notes? I ask again, who steals Post-It notes?
At work this morning I needed to scribble something on a Post-It so I wouldn't forget it by the end of the day. Without looking, I reached over to my right to grab my stack of Post-Its. My hand finds empty desk. Again without looking, I pat around the general area, trying to find my stack of perfectly-sized papers with a sticky backing. There's my pen. There's my coffee cup full of writing utensils. There's my drink coaster (read: scratched CD). Where's my Post-Its?
I finally turn my head and stare, open-jawed with amazement, as my Post-Its are nowhere to be found. Last night someone stole my Post-It notes right off my desk.
