Money, so they say
Is the root of all evil today...
Being that I am a taxpaying citizen of this country, I would like to request that none of the money I contribute be used for bailing out companies that have been mismanaged. Why is it wrong to just allow them to declare bankruptcy? What is wrong with having their assets divided up and sold to the highest bidders? Is this country really so weak that it would cease if a couple of banks or automakers went under? (engage sarcasm engine) We all know it is wasn't the fault of those who were in charge of these companies and we should give them everything they want because they without them the world would come to an end and all hope would be lost. How can we punish them for making innocent mistakes? And to spank them for being bad would be considered abusive and we wouldn't want to emotionally scar them for life. They are victims of their own success and we are at fault for making them successful. We really should help the people who line the pockets of the political machines that guides this great land... (disengage sarcasm engine)
Any more I find that I have a great dislike for any politician of any party. What do they care if our children's children are still paying off the debt from passed year as long as they can get reelected in the next election? And that's what it all boils down to in the end – short-sightedness of those in power and the instant gratification of voters who keep them in power...
If we truly have a global economy do we really need so many automakers in this country? Would it be so wrong to have one strong US make competing against one strong Asian manufacturer against one dominate European brand? Does this country really need such huge financial institutions when it is possible that the population would be better served by an increased number of smaller operations?
None of these things really matter for the powers that be have already decided what is in my best interest and the good of the country. For I am but an idiot who goes through this existence needing to be told what I what and what is best for me. I need someone to hold my hand and protect me from this big bad world. And I think I've disengaged the sarcasm engine far too early in the writing of this rant...
We all know that the politicos are never wrong, their programs were just underfunded or too small in their scale. And if they are questioned on anything they do, they will say that I do not understand what they are trying to accomplish or I am far too naïve to understand the workings of this country...
And yet I am powerless to anything about goes on around me for I am but one vote out of over three-hundred million and I am outnumbered by the many who have been bailed-out or who want to be swaddled from cradle to grave...
And I would like someone to prove this wrong: being rewarded for bad behaviour or bad judgment will result in an outcome that changes the behaviour for the better. How will the behaviour of any CEOs or COOs or CFOs change when they still receive large financial rewards for not knowing how to run their businesses? How will they learn if they are not allowed to fail?
Failure is always an option. If you run your business in a manner that does not create to capital that is required to sustain it, you go out of business. It is that simple and doesn't even require my BS in Business Management to figure out. When you no longer have the money to required for your operation to be a viable enterprise, that's it, game over, you lose. How can there be any winners in a land where no one is allowed to fail?
For now at least my right to speak out against the state is in tact though this is subject to change without notice and my next entry may very well be from some gulag near you...
And thusly ends my rant on this glorious day and I am hoping that everyone has a chance to read it before the thought police have it removed for all eternity...

whether you want the 'politicians' spending

to rebuild New Orleans . Interesting number...

and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt..

and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What the heck happened?????
Recently I was raked over the coals here on MINDSAY and vilified for a response that was not, shall I say, appreciated by other respondents.
I was accused of cursing in my response when there was no cursing. I was most certainly adversarial as has been my wont and habit when confronted with, by my perception, grossly ignorant or obviously deceptive posts or out-and-out lies.
Admittedly I have been or am known, far and wide as a crude asshole. Admittedly, again, I am frequently just that in offering my statements, pontifications [both correct and grossly incorrect] and actions when I protest what is, from my perspective, fudking wrong.
Fudking idiots, greedy conservatives, heartless Republicans, ignorant politicians, crazy Christians, religious nuts and their supporters of whatever political stripe have planned in some instances, connived and conspired in many others and or too, too often blindly followed policies leading to the destruction of our high moral status and position of power in the world, our financial bankruptcy as a nation and to the verge of losing our once prised and touted and soughtafter haven for the beacon of hope for freedom on this planet: Democracy.
All such more than bothers me or dismays me. It angers me to the nth degree and I say so, often, and yes, often too crudely. Sincerely, David

In the year 2000 I was honored for my unselfish attitude as a self appointed community advocate. For my dedication and inspirational work, Adelphia Communications and Romance classics, a network from the American Movie Channel, had selected me to receive the "Cool Women of America Award" Only two were chosen from Maine, and I was one.

I have volunteered in three different school doing craft projects with the students on all holidays. Done special projects, along with sewing customs for plays. Volunteered in the head start program. Been a member of the parent-teacher group, doing many fund raisers for classroom needs , and school playground equipment.

I have also served as vice president of both the People's Action Committee and the Maine Association of Independent Neighborhoods, which deals with low income issues. Held office as Treasurer for Task force on Human needs, as well as second vice president of the American Legion Auxiliary. I was certified by Pine Tree Legal as a community advocate. Volunteered helping the elderly, and handicapped along with anyone in need of help that has crossed my path as I go through life. Started a group for young children in the community called "Tiny Tots" doing fund raisers for t-shirts, parties and a float for the parade to enrich the lives of young children. I also hold many certificates in different fields.

While some men (and women) can be idiots, it seems that politicians are a very special kind of idiot. In saying that, I'm assuming that politicians more frequently engage in affairs than non-politicians; on the other hand, there's the scary possibility that their behavior actually reflects that of the general population, who may cheat just as often but are less likely to get caught. I've heard the "monogamy isn't natural"/men-are-biologically -wired-to-spread-their-seed justification, but I don't buy it. We are also equipped with brains and the ability to choose. Women are biologically equipped to reproduce at age 11 or 12, but does that mean that they should?
I have always thought that infidelity is one of the most despicable acts a person can commit, and something that I could never forgive. That said, I think that people, including myself, are capable of just about anything under the right (or more accurately, wrong) circumstances, so maybe I shouldn't be so quick to judge. Who knows? The whole thing makes my brain hurt.
