mixin'
back in the days of mixtapes, when we actually had cassette tapes and recorded songs off the radio, we'd be choosy as to what songs we put, and in what order (and on which side of the tape, even).  these days we hardly ever put together mixes, just huge playlists of similar genres of music, or even with no order at all, and just leave our ipods or zunes (or phones, if you're like me) on shuffle, and hope we don't have to hit fast forward too many times to find a song we actually want to listen to.

so with that preface, i finished up a new mix again; check out the tracks if you'd like.  with my little mixes i've tried to create a few somewhat arbitrary rules to follow..like 10 is always the "makes me want to drive really fast" song, or 8 is always the ballad-type love song.  3 and 5 are usually dance songs, or ones with really good hooks and beats.  rap tends to get pushed towards the back, just like on the NOW compilation albums, but no artist can have more than one song, though they can be featured on another artist's song.  heavier rock permeates where it can, while 11, 7, and 4 are reserved for groovy, catchy songs (11 being typically occupied by justin timberlake, when possible).  overall the feel is less rappy than the previous mix, instead heavier on the dance/techno..and only one song carries over.

the ironic thing about the whole mixtape thing though, is that it was originally intended to be of enough variety to play the entire cd the whole way through..but i always leave it on shuffle, anyway.  suppose that's a testament to the fact that my car's cd player doesn't shuffle properly..i.e. if you hit "next," it just goes to the next chronological track, rather than shuffling to another..and it gets stuck at the end of a cd, regardless of whether i fit only 19 tracks, or occasionally manage to cram in 22, like this time.
took it for a spin this weekend, and it did a pretty good job of keeping me awake on the way back..had to use an old philips cd though, since i forgot to grab another lightscribe one when i was down in richmond..ah well.

kenny finally called me back on friday on my way down to charlottesville; turns out he'd been sick, and when he went to his roommate eric to talk about finding a new place with me, that he no longer wanted to move..so basically it seems i'm out of luck, so now i'm combing through craigslist to find a suitable place.  it's too bad people are somehow allowed to repost listings every few days instead of like, every two weeks..but then again, the "repost" filter isn't terribly difficult to defeat, soo.  coming across a few decent places, so now it's more a balancing of distance vs. cost..like one's $500 for a 12'x10' room, shared bathroom with one girl and another girl in the aptment..really nice high-rise complex, about 6.3mi from work..with ALL UTILS included.  "fifteen minutes," says google maps!—but i know it lies to me.  and living with two girls i don't know?  that's a tough one, too..there's another listing in the same complex for $765 with only one roommate and a bigger room..but that's a pretty big difference, and comes with $150 in application fees.  anyhow, shooting out emails the rest of today, hahah.  suppose we'll see how this goes..

finally bought my football season tickets (uhm, youth); looking fwd to the first game friday..but there's a welcome home party for a hs friend of mine who's been in korea for like a year, and an axe party the same night, so we'll see what winds up happening, or if i try to split my time between the two.  anyhow, i start work tmw, soo..wish me luck!

I am Off Today

Got up around noon - 1 PM. To do what you might ask? Nothing at all.

So I turned TV on and found that Star trek : deep space nine , was on. So I watched that. Around 4 my mother arrived home from work with dinner from McDonald's. Yum. Although its not exactly healthy.

What's going on right now? Nothing much really. I just put new #8 decal's on my car, also a new Buffalo BILLS logo decal on  my car. So all the decal's are looking good on my car. You can check them out if you want.

Right now on TV is Star trek : the next generation, which is on till 6 PM. Other then that, and occasionally being bothered by a kitten, I am just sitting here. So, now I am online too.

Plans for the rest of the night? At 6 PM on TV , it takes a thief is on, then at 7 I'll watch the marathon of , Little people big world.  Other then that, I really don't know what is on TV tonight. I am sure there will be some channel surfing. Again , other then the TV line up, there's noting planned.

What's on my mind? Nothing much. Just sitting here watching TV. I already have done the only thing I wanted to do, by replacing the old decals with new ones on my car. Other then that, I guess the only stuff left on my mind, is the usual guy stuff. I'll leave that to you, to figure out what that is. Read older blog entries if you need too.

Anything else I feel the need to include? Nope, nothing at all.  At least nothing that comes to my mind at this moment at time. If you wanna chat with me, you should know how to contact me by now.  If not, a reply is always nice.

Update

Saturday 9th July 2006

I ate junk food all day on Saturday. Just because that's what we happened to have Mc Donald's lunch and then fish and chips for dinner. Then I went to see Pirates of the Carribean 2 Dead Man's Chest with people from Church and their combined friends. It was sooooooo great, the movie, oh and it was fun to have a night out too. The movie has an ending to anticipate if you haven't already seen it. I've spoken to many people about this movie. Some people loathed the ending, for many reasons that one can see by watching the movie. I'm trying to be nice and not give any spoilers.

I personally enjoyed it immensly, it was dramatic, action, romance and comical all rolled into one. Yes, that is possible and it did work. Be sure to stay until after the credits, there's a little something afterwards if you're willing to wait and not rush out the door. As I soon found that XMen 3 had something after the credits and I didn't watch it... damn.

Sunday

My pal's 21st! She had a kids party at her fiance's house with all sorts of games. Like pass the parcel, uno, mini pool table, uno blocks, sack races, egg racing, celebrity heads (I was Pie, as in maths Pie, that was cruel and unusual).

Besides the bad choice of celebrity heads it was awesome fun. I made her a chain necklace and bought her 'Captain Underpant's Chrunchy book of fun 1 and 2'. Don't ask me, it's one of her niche hobbies, reading those books. That and Fairly Odd Parents, which was the picture on the delicious chocolate cake with thick white icing.

I stayed back with the remaining few to help clean up and then after the clean up we played Go Fish and Uno until about 1.30am. Inbetween taking a small break to check out my friend's beat up Herby can that her fiance's rebuilding for her as a surprise. The finished product will be a surprise, not the actual getting of the car.

Anyhow, got home at around 2am and went straight to sleep. Ladi-da, that's my weekend.

Monday

Caught up with another High School friend for lunch and went shopping. Fun, fun. Good to see friends, especially when they're studying medicine in rural areas for their placements. Tata for now.

Live @ fontys
Update from school...why? Because I have a busy day today and now I have two hours off. It's pretty boring ofcourse nothing to do..only my weblog to update. I didn't even took my laptop to school today. Why? Because like I said I have a busy day today. I woke up at 6.30AM today, I voted for the politicis in our community and then went to school. I followed a lesson about making headlines and now two hours off. And then? Then the real heavy stuff begins. After that we got a introduction we should go to a voting agency and interview people there, make small pieces and stuff like that. At 4.30PM we need to present then at the other students. But then the day isn't over. No, we still have to go to Weert. Yes, Weert. It's far away from were I orginally live so it's a pretty long trip. But we are finished around 5.15PM but we need to be in Weert at 8PM. So we have to haste ourselves to eat, then we need to go to Weert. And around 9PM the voting agency closes and they can go can count the votes. The results are expected in around 9.30PM. The evening last till 10PM and then back home. The journey takes 2 hours. So I am in Roosendaal at 12AM. But then it still isn't finished. No, well not that's very tired making what I am gonna do after that. I need to catch a cab, cause the place were my bike is standing is closed then. The biggest problem about the cab is that it costs 4 euro 15. Don't they ride for free:P? Anyways, I have had a worse day two weeks ago. Also on a tuesday. Then I also went to Weert for an interview with Paul Lempens, he's the leading man for the SP (a socialstic political party) in Weert. I was pretty nervous then. But in the evening I need to go to Weert for a discussion evening. Eventually I was home at 1AM then, while I woke up that day at 6AM. I was just glad I had the next day off. But about today? I don't have off tommorow. No, they expect me to be at school at 9.30AM again. So it's wakey wake again at either 6AM or 6.30AM. With these days I feel a bit like Jack Bauer, only without the shooting, the kidnappings, the president etc. People, welcome to the 2nd longest day of my life.
