New Rule: Postseason Games Can't Be Shortened By Weather

Baseball commissioner Bud Selig announced the sport will enact a rules change stating that postseason games cannot be shortened because of bad weather.

"All postseason games, All-Star games and that, will be full-length affairs, and the rule will be so written," Selig said Thursday following an owners' meeting.

Selig said the change also will apply to tiebreaker games that decide division titles and wild-card berths.

"Any game that has significance for the postseason," he said. "It will be very clear now. Everybody will know exactly."

Under baseball's rules, games are official as soon as the trailing team has made 15 outs.

MLB Playoffs Update
ALCS

Boston has a 1-0 sereis lead over Tampa Bay after last night's 2-0 win. Daisuke Matsuzaka had a no-hitter going into the 7th inning before finally giving up a hit. The Boston bullpen did the rest. Jed Lowrie got the Sox on the board first with a sacrifice fily in the 5th. Kevin Youkilis drove in the second run with a double in the 8th. Game 2 is tonight.

NLCS

Philadelphia has a 2-0 series lead over Los Angeles after yesterday's 8-5 win at home. Phillies' pitcher Brett Myers became the first pitcher to get 3 hits in a game. He also drove in 3 runs. One of those RBI came in a 4-run 2nd inning which gave Philadelphia a 4-1 lead. Their lead grew to 8-2 before Manny Ramirez hit a 3-run bomb for LA. Game 3 is in LA tomorrow.

Phillies Coasting Through Playoffs
I'm a little surprised that the Phillies are up 2-0 on the Dodgers.  Looks like they've got a good shot at being in the World Series.
