Last night I was studying while my music list was playing and the march from 1941 by John Williams came on. It reminded me of playing it in HS. The snare drum part was awesome-- it sounds much harder than it actually is, though. Everyone else in the band hated it, obviously since it was not the kind of stuff they were used to playing. It was only a sightreading exercise though. And, somewhat right after it was "Duel of the Fates"-- the timpani solo of which I can vividly remember. Oh, high school...the
only thing I miss is band. Ive always wished I could have a chance to play again. I havent touched any percussion inst in 4 yrs. Im so busy at school, I never had time to sign up for concert band. Maybe some church would be playing
Hallelujah Chorus and would need a timpani player (it was my very first song on timpani oh so many years ago). I think I could still play it by memory.
If there is one thing which can help you succeed in school and your self esteem it's playing a music instrument. I found that nothing else even comes close. You just have to stick to it.
