I would like to thank everyone who voted for my Mindsay Jingle for Top Blog. If I never win any "big" awards for my music, ( and to be honest, I don't really expect to Smiley) I'll be perfectly happy just getting a little recognition from the great friends like I have here at Mindsay.

We played a show Saturday night. Didn't get many pictures but here is one that someone took of the band. From left to right is Tracy playing bass, then Kermit Monk playing guitar. That's me in the middle playing guitar with my mouth all contorted. Joe Sajak is playing harmonica and my good bud, Eric Bowman is playing Dobro. That's Mikey Brobeck playing standup bass in the back. He owns the place.

Looking back
Last night I was studying while my music list was playing and the march from 1941 by John Williams came on. It reminded me of playing it in HS. The snare drum part was awesome-- it sounds much harder than it actually is, though. Everyone else in the band hated it, obviously since it was not the kind of stuff they were used to playing. It was only a sightreading exercise though. And, somewhat right after it was "Duel of the Fates"-- the timpani solo of which I can vividly remember. Oh, high school...the only  thing I miss is band. Ive always wished I could have a chance to play again. I havent touched any percussion inst in 4 yrs. Im so busy at school, I never had time to sign up for concert band. Maybe some church would be playing Hallelujah Chorus and would need a timpani player (it was my very first song on timpani oh so many years ago). I think I could still play it by memory.

If there is one thing which can help you succeed in school and your self esteem it's playing a music instrument. I found that nothing else even comes close. You just have to stick to it.

mind tricks to get motivated
music has amazing effects.  you know that Rocky theme song? ....when you hear it you just can't help feeling more pumped up.  Do you have a song that really inspires you or gets you going?   people often listen to music especially for the purpose of getting revved up before playing a game or even while playing.  didn't some of those olympic skiiers listen to music while performing their medal run?  i will have to make some cd's that can give my living space some positive energy.

anybody see Batchelor on abc?  yea i got hooked, the guy this season seems genuine.  a great catch for any girl.  what a weird twist, I was not seeing Moana being the one to go.  i thought they did all they ccould to mislead the viewer into thinking there was absolutely no chemistry between him and Sarah.  and engagement ring on a necklace,  hmmmm what a great way to make a quasi-promise but no promise.  lol

i've been away for a while, things were overwhelming but trying to take things in stride.  i have a date tomorrow, we'll see how that goes.  I am also thinking about my next career move....but i need to do things one at a time or something short circuits and i burn out.  hey at least i got my taxes done!!   oh that reminds me, i need to do my 2005 taxes now.   hope everyone has been doing well!!!!

As I sit here in confusion

I sit at my parents computer, listening intently to Daddy and Little Josh playing on Daddy's keyboard.  There is normally nothing unusual about this, but this time, Daddy is playing with the millions of different sound settings on it.  He currently has it on this one setting that sounds like aliens have landed in the living room and are throwing a disco party.  It's quite interesting.  First he was playing "Jingle Bells" with it, then he went into "Twinkle, twinkle, little star".  And then he played my school fight song, which sounded particularly hilarious.  I think after that, he attempted the theme music from Beverly Hills Cop

Yes.  I am both amused and incredibly confused.  X_x

Wailing from the back seat
omg..you should have heard the groans and wailing coming from the back seat of my car Sunday when I was flipping trough the radio channels looking for some good music.  I landed on one station that is playing CHRISTMAS MUSIC 24/7 already.  This is even too early for me.  My rule is no Christmas Music gets played till at least December.   Having said that, I'm always on the lookout for a new CD each year to add to my collection (and I have quite a collection mind you..lol)  So shout out your fav xmas CD and let me see if I have it.  :)
