Playing Guitar @ MindSay

today is the day: playing my guitar
Well it's go time...almost. Today is the day I go back out into the wild and actually play guitar for more people than just my own family again. It's only been..what? THREE YEARS. I am so nervous I could be considered part of the new butterfly exhibit at the zoo. I hope I can turn that nervous energy into positive, non-huge-mistake-making energy. Playing guitar alone in front of people is just... well... nerve wracking because your mind goes so fast through the song that your fingers try to keep up and then :

disaster....

so I am praying, as I have been, that my mind can slow down and I can truly give honor to God's name by not screwing up royally today. So if you want to pray with me that the Spirit takes over so I can't get in His way and mess it up, that would be really cool!

I'm coming back to the heart of worship. its all about you Jesus.

I've had a good day.  I've played my guitar alot.. i mean.. A LOT.. I'm teaching myself with also pointers from Mike. which has been helpful.  I think i drove my friends insane cause i was playing it for hours. hahahaha. i cant help it.  I'm a worship girl with a calling for worship and when i started playing piano i always wanted to play and this the guitar its the same way but 10 times worst. lol. I have dreamed of playing the guitar for years and years, and litterally i would have dreams of me buying guitars. thats how much i've wanted to so bad so now that i have one, i'm gonna do it constantly until i know it.  I know God has called me to worship lead some day in the future.  I honestly can't wait for that.  Its what i love to do.  My passion and hearts desire.

2 weeks left of college until Florida!!! yay!!!! i am really excited.  and i am really tired.  I get to go to heathers house this weekend. i'm excited for that too. of course the guitar is coming with me. mwuahahahaha!!!!!

To Do List - Playing Geetar/Learning a new song!
I was going to take a picture of my To Do list for tomorrow (or today? okay it officially just turned 12:00... Today) and post it here, mostly to show off my cute notepad, but I'm not much up for that right now. So I'll just type it up here real quick instead. It's a lot and I'm not sure I'll get it all done, but at least I got goals now. heh.
  • Call BMW 'bout car lights
    • My brake light AND tail light are out. I already got pulled over for it but luckily he let me off. Nevermind that I was also driving without a license, only a permit, by myself. Maybe it was because I was going to get pie for my mama just around the corner... heheh. Anyway now I drive in perpetual fear (and EXTREME stress, especially if I must drive at night) of getting pulled over again and not getting it so easy this time. I've got to get this fixed..
  • Call DMV for license appointment.
    • Yes, I still don't have a license. Thus...
  • Clean Cat's apartment - When?
    • My sister (Catherine) has me clean her apartment for $50 every other week. It's relatively easy (my nieces room can tend to be a disaster and someone has really dirty feet when they get in the shower so it's a lot of scrubbing there) and monaay! lol. Albeit just a wee bit. While we're on the subject gas is now only a few cents from $4.00 here. YAY! I got barely 2 gallons for like 7 something today........ >:-[
  • Read for History
  • Laundry!!
  • Clean room & closet
  • Wash and detail car
    • I got some ArmorAll for my leather seats today but didn't have enough cash to get the ones for the interior too. Hopefully I can get that once I clean my sister's apartment. More importantly: HOPEFULLY I'LL GET A JOB SOON!! Anyway, the whole exterior needs a wash and it needs a vacuuming and dusting inside. I'm a bit of a crazy on the whole clean car deal... I hate messy cars! The trunk's gotta be cleared of anything unnecessary (I do keep jumper cables in there), no shit in the back seat or side doors, nothing unnecessary in the glove box or ashtray (I keep some spare change in there), etc.
  • Replant flowers and herbs
    • Or at least what is left of the herbs. Which is like two little pods or whatever. Sad... Yesterday I got up and went out to water them but found they were gone. I thought maybe someone brought them inside so I looked all over and couldn't find them. Someone stole CIGARETTE BUTTS from my mom's ashtray outside before, so I figured why wouldn't some fool maybe come and steal the seedlings? I concluded someone had. Only when I walked out the door to go to class I found my mom had set them out on the pavement for the dumpster. WTF? I saved them, though.
And that's it! So that wasn't real quick after all...

Well, moving on.

What was I going to say? Oh yes...

I stayed up so late tonight working on learning my first entire song on the guitar. Well, not the first... I know other entire songs, but they are very simple. I know a small handful of Ani DiFranco songs from her first album and others that are simple from other albums, only one of which in an alternative tuning. But Ani has these subtleties that no one picks up in the tabs I read even though it sounds like she is doing the same thing, like it's part of the song... No one tabs it. It's strange. So I feel like I don't know the actual song. I know a lot of 2 Jack Johnson songs but can't get a certain chord right on one of them so I always skip it, and the other one ... I dunno why I haven't learned the rest. I think it's just super simple so I was like whatever. Aaaannd a lot of that song everyone knows by Everlast, "What It's Like". Etc, etc. But I feel like this is my first whole, complex song. Although it's not very complex, it's quite simple... But I mean in that it has all these parts that are different including three verses and the chorus and transitions back into each verse and an interlude and an outro. If I didn't have so much to focus on getting done tomorrow I could spend the better part of the day polishing it up. It's already in my head and in my fingers from sitting on my bed for two hours right now finishing learning it, now all I have to do is practice until I play it to perfection.

I'm not saying what it is! It's a secret. ;)

He Stopped Loving Her Today

Just to prove that I can play a guitar, (and I'm not saying I'm great at it. I'm just saying I can play one.) here is another video from Rick and Debs Christmas Party. My friend Eric is on the left playing dobro. That's me near the door playing guitar and singing, and our new friend, Phil, is on the right playing the stand-up bass guitar. That's my friend Larry, who I have known all my life, that comes up and helps sing, then does the ooo ooo ooo's after the first chorus. I think everybody there was singing along. It was a great party with a great bunch of people.

New song
Here is the new song that I tried to film. It's a shitty recording of it but it's got the layers so you can kind of understand better what I am going for. Like I said the recording is bad and I don't even play it well but it's the rough copy. What can ya do?! Anyway, I'm being rushed out the door but I wanted to post this really quick before I left. Later.
