Flying - safest way to travel
Safest way to travel?  By plane.  This video will show you why.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KhZwsYtNDE

Description - Boeing 757 taking off.  Hits bird in the right engine, destroying it. Flames exit the rear of the engine.

Is this a problem?  Not really (in this example), and here is why:
- There are two engines.  Each is capable of flying the plane by itself.
- Pilot recognized problem right away
- Pilot announce MAYDAY calmly and shutdown the bad engine
- Pilot calmly climbed to safe altitude, made a complete circle around the airport, and landed back into the wind he took off in.
- Air Traffic controller shutdown ALL traffic in the immediate area
- Air Traffic told pilot to take ANY runway he wanted.
- Fire Dept waiting on the ground for plane to land.
- Pilot make a "normal" landing, with no extreme maneuvers on ground
- Safely stops plane

Now imagine that you are on the freeway doing rush hour going 75 mph and your front tire blows.  Wouldn't it be nice to have all of this help and backup equipment?

new stuff STUFF

so...stuff, that seems to be my new word.

i'm planning on going out and visiting mark soon.... i cant wait to see him.....but i need a fucking job that is actually going to help. the place i just started at only pays 6.50 an hour....and the longest shift taht i'm available for in the evenings is three hours long. i woiuldnt mind actually getting a job that is going to work with me...i start school in like a week and a half and i would love to work 25 hours a week, but unless the pay is at least 8.00 i cant do it....i'd have to work a ton of overtime just to afford gas and school.... so the trip to see mark would be out of the question.

though, we did discover that driving out there right now would be more expencive than flying out, so i think i may do that. i almost want to surprise him.... like, work with his buddies to set up a day, and like make them take him out to dinner and hten i just show up at the place and act like it's completely natural..... and be all: oh, they invited me, so how're things?...... it sounds better in my head, sorry.

I've noticed, blogs are mostly about complaining...it's like no one can be happy for someone elses happiness, we all need to compare misery, to see who has it worse off.... just a thought.

oh, a train ride out to cali is like 550 dollars, and it takes 15 hours.... ouchie.... just a thought, again....thinking is a dangerous pastime, i know.

thought about writing some new poetry, but it hasnt been flowing lately... i read mark my poem frozen.....(it may be in here somewhere....*shrugs*) and the only thing he could really say was that there was a lot of emotion..... and he just seemed really thoughtful about it..it kinda disturbed me..... oh well.... enjoy

Back to H-town

I'm soooooo excited. I catch a plane in 9hrs! It's ashame I don't get there until 2 something! I really have missed my friends. Guess you never know what you got until it's gone. I already have plans to eat with LeeLee, Raquel, Emily and Marty at Palio's Pizza tonight. I guess that's better than going to any concert...just hanging out with the cronies.

Well time to start packing. Musn't forget the Ramen! Waiting for Marty to call me back. Hah, it's going to be hell waking up in the morning. People who know me know I don't usually go to sleep until 4 at the earliest. But it will be worth it! Who knows maybe I'll fall asleep on the plane...even though I never have.....my ears always pop haha!

Be back in a few days!

Farts spark emergency landing

Thursday Dec 7 09:34 AEDT

An American Airlines flight made an emergency landing this week after a passenger with severe gas problems struck matches to mask the odor of flatulence, an official said.

The flight from Washington to Texas landed at Nashville airport on Tuesday, in the southeastern state of Tennessee, after passengers alerted the crew about the smell of burning sulfur, Lynne Lowrance, spokeswoman for the Nashville International Airport Authority said.

She said all 99 passengers and their luggage were taken off the plane and searched, and an unlucky canine team was brought in to sniff the aircraft for explosives.

After intense questioning by the FBI, a woman passenger admitted to lighting matches on board the aircraft to conceal her gas, Lowrance said.

"For a long time she did not admit to striking matches and I think that was just out of embarrassment," she said. "She did finally admit to it saying she had a medical problem about excessive gas."

The unidentified woman was not charged but "American did ban her from flying on their airline for a very long time," Lowrance said.
