New Photo Gallery Test

IMAGEVUE

After modifying some of the elements, I really like this photo presentation design. It's mostly in PHP and running off my local server if you want to take a look it's HERE

And while on the subject of photos... I am reminded of a blogger months ago who lost a huge body of work due to failure to backup. If you use, and are reliant upon, one of the free photo-hosting sites to store your photos keep reading.

Whatever photo-service you use, Photobucket, Flickr... any of them, they are all the same in one respect: they make no guarantee that your photos are safe and stored forever. If their servers crash your photos are lost. Tough luck.

Photobucket recently upgraded their services. They seem much faster now. And using their service it is very easy to create an html page with thumbnails and links to all or your photos stored on their servers. Ok! That's all good and fine, but your photos are still not backed up. Here's what to do with the generated html-thumbnail-link page.

First go grab a program called Neodownloader HERE. Run the program to navigate to the html-output page that your service generated. All of your photos will then be downloaded and stored on your local machine. From there you can store them to disc to save space.

What does the page look like? Well, mine looks like THIS.

Trivial Trivia
Well, since I've gone and commented a few places, I suppose people will be checking out whatever I've got written here, which is... well, not much. Or nothing. Or it was nothing, because I'm currently typing what I suppose constitutes something. THAT DOES NOT COMPUTE.

The other day I went on a grand adventure in the land of "what happens if you have a very large pagefile on a secondary hard disk which, for reasons unbeknownst to you, has a kernal problem and some broken sectors, and the pagefile is corrupted, yet Windows continues to try and access it". The adventure did not go well. I should probably just stop cheating and buy 4gigs of RAM :0.

I'm doing some PHP work for my gaming clan (because its fun to play together). New site layout, completely interfaced with forums, fun stuff. Unfortunately IPB is a complete and total bitch to work with, or so I thought until I discovered the beauty of the IPB SDK. I love it when someone else does all the work :D. Aaand... .well, I thought you might want to know that, o anonymous reader of the internet.

ooh look theres a button down there that says 'Publish En

Hoohah!

I'm feeling much better already! I got up, and started back to work on the MCA site, and felt as good as normal! :D

Looks like I've got another job or two aside from that lined up for the future, so that's looking nice and gravy-like, as well.

Also, I'm delving into some PHP, so maybe I'll be learning some more advanced PHP coding here soon, and become UNSTOPPABLE! *evil laugh*

....or not.

....and now, an edited TPFD for your viewing pleasure:

So, what am I up to?
So, I haven't spoken in a while now. Well life is good to me, as usual, although I do find myself bored time to time.

I been doing much more Warhammer painting over the weeks, I finally started to like painting large quantities of similar looking models without getting bored after 20th one.

I been also felt a pull to come back to my programming projects, and I actually started something code-named Chaos Wars II, OooooOOo, it's gonna be fun when I finish it (if I finish it :D). It will be an online PHP game, a continuation on a project that has been semi closed for past 6 months. I'll maybe post a link sometime in future when I actually do something that will work. :)

What else, I stumbled on my old rival's website, well he is not an admin of the site but is one of the, staff of sorts. http://www.planetadnd.com is the place. General Xilton/Kryox being my arch rival :D I may actually start helping him with stuff. :O Wierd feeling.

Regards,
Albob
