You perceive the world with particular attention to nature. You focus on the hidden treasures of life (the background) and how that fits into the larger picture. You are also particularly drawn towards the colors around you. Because of the value you place on nature, you tend to find comfort in more subdued settings and find energy in solitude. You like to ponder ideas and imagine the many possibilities of your life without worrying about the details or specifics. You are in tune with all that is around you and understand your life as part of a larger whole. You are a down-to-earth person who enjoys going with the flow.

As time goes by in my life I have crawled painfully slowly from a Type B personality into one who can sometimes be mistaken as a Type A personality. As happy as I am about the adjustment (after all it's so much fun to be considered an A instead of a B) it's still one that I look at with some disbelief. I still remember the first evaluation I took that suggested I was Type A. I couldn't fathom it.
In thinking of the two key personality types it seems to me that the difference is in whether your approach to life is active or passive. In other words, to you live life or do you let life live you. I know that sounds derogatory. After all, some of my best friends are Type B and I am at best a borderline case. I'm not suggesting they're doing anything wrong, I'm merely pointing out their general tendency.
Type A personalities like to do things. They're the types that love expressions like "Grab life by the horns." Type B personalities aren't usually as rash. They're level headed. They're good problem solvers. They stay calm and collected and don't open their mouth much.
Are you a Type A or a Type B personality? I've developed my own test. Knowledge of baseball is a plus.
You're standing on first base. Second base is open. Do you attempt to steal the base?
A Type A personality would try to steal the base. They would put the pressure on the catcher and the shortstop or second baseman (depending on who covers second) to make the play and gun him down. They would put the pressure on the opponent to make the play.
A Type B personality would be much more hesitant and likely would not steal the base. They presume that if they attempted to steal they would easily be thrown out and for fear of the out play it safe and keep their foot on first.
What's the difference? The Type A person believes in taking advantage of the opportunity. They put the pressure on the opponent believing the odds of stealing the base are better than the odds of the opponent throwing them out. The Type B person believes the odds of them successfully swiping second (Ooo. Alliteration!) are less than the odds of the opposition tossing them out.
Apply this to that thing you've been meaning to do. Unless you're without a pulse you've been meaning to do something, so I decided to leave it broad. Are you going to dare to make the dash, believing the odds of success are better than the odds of failure? Or will you keep your foot on first base and look longingly at what's ahead hoping the batter will push your forward?
Type A personalities get thrown out trying to steal base sometimes. But they often get their bag and generate the excitement and buzz in a crowd that others only dream of.
Where are your feet?
not
eaten up by a shark! it's been a while. i enjoyed the beach
immensely as I always do. the water was a perfect temperature, a
bit rough but hey that's what makes it fun.
so the shifty eyed cat has moved out. it's quite peaceful and
quiet. almost too quiet. the roomate that left is the more
boisterous and chatty one. my other roomate, which i guess i
don't often talk about is more private and likes to always be on her
own. i was the one in the middle that could appreciate both types
of personalities.
would it not be interesting to try on a whole new personality for a day
just for kicks? see what a different world it is when you're
completely the opposite of who you are. if you're shy , blurting
out the first things that pop into your head and being an attention
monger. if you're a constant chatterbox, to actually take a breather and listen .....if you're geeky, pretending you're suave and
sexy. call it acting for a day. i dunno. strange thoughts so early in the morning.
meanwhile i just turned around and I see Rustie, my cat sitting on my bed facing the corner walls and just ....staring at the wall. heh. oh, i need to simplify my life. and speaking of Life, i'm eating the cereal right now. i know it looks like little cardboard squares...but i like it!
i was reading a book (i'm not lying)...about personality types. i'm an obvious INFP. it would be so interesting to try on a completely different type just for a day or so. to see and think in a whole new perspective. to think linearly, to strive on rigid schedules and deadlines, to be able to talk non stop about every detail of your morning when nobody really cares.., hmmm.
oh guess what INFP's? having constant "to do" piles and projects that never really get touched is part of our nature! the immaginative idealist in us keeps that going, there's always a quest for something better.
time for me to go earn some money. bye

I had to wait the other night to be picked up from my first aid course which I had just passed and I decided to wait near a bus stop. I was alone thre for a short while until an african family came to the bus stop with what appeared to be their weekly shopping. I'd chosen not to sit on the seat, but leave it free for others and besides, I'd just spent 17 hours over the past two days sitting, I wasn't in the mood for it. I found the family passed by the seat and stood on the other side. This got me thinking, what is running through their heads at that moment? Why did they not take the seat which would have been ample room for the whole family? This my friends, I could not understand and from there, I began to people watch for the evening.
I watched the cars go by on the street, some fast, some slow, some with intention and some with business to go to. But what caught my attention was the people driving it, how they drove and what appeared to be going through their minds. I noted several different kinds of people driving, and put them into catagories.
- "Soccer Mums" / "Shopping mall people" - This breed of driver usually drives a rather large car such as a fake Four Wheel Drives and seems to drive rather aggressivly. Mainly seems to be women, but I would have to observe over a longer period to get this accurate. Often has kids in the back or windows full of shopping bags and other family goodies.
- "Tryhards" - Usually found driving japanese cars with turbos and neons etc. Generally drive like assholes. Appear to think they are God and that their car is cool. Often has speakers turned up to ear-damaging levels and look like idiots because they cannot change gears properly. Car is often customised much the same as ever other kind in their breed.
- "The Hot but dumb Girl" - Often has dopey look and struggles to drive car. Appears to struggle with gears but still thinks she is a good driver. Possibly got licence from Weeties box but it dosn't matter because she is 'pretty'. *cough* *cough*
- "The Mid-Life Crisis Male" - Often drives expensive red car with a massive engine which suggests compensation. Appears to happen to all males at some point, but often found in two seperate groups.
- "The Poor Mid-Life Crisis Male" - Often drives smaller car of a strange colour, drives like maniac and again like they are God, without a customised car. Often wears cheap suit and appears to have bad etiquite. Spikes hair, thinks he looks professional.
- "Office Sports Car Female" - Appear to be high earning females who think that the sports car makes them hot. Often drives aggressivly and with little consideration to others.
- "Office Male" - Often seen driving at a relaxed pace, wants to get home so it's almost like a relaxed speeding. Thinks they can go at whatever speed they please but is found in more common cars or company cars.
- "The old badicoot" - Eldery person, usually the male driving. Dislikes going at higher speeds and is careful of others. A sense of paranoia surrounds these people and quite often their consideration for others annoys other drivers.
- "The 'P' Plater Male" - Usually in a car with 3 or more other males, loud music and lack of concentration on driving. Potential hazard to anyone but rarly found driving a car with a large engine (probably due to insurance). Cars are also often beat-up and scraping the bottom of the road-worthy barrel.
- "The 'P' Plater Female" - Usually driving with 3 or more other females, loud music but ability to concentrate. Occasionally a cross-breed with "Hot but Dumb Girl". Car is often a compact car which is either an older car, or a bubbly round one which personally annoys me.
- "The Learner Driver" - Careful but often found to take sudden swerves or sudden jamming of brakes. Usually miscalculates distances and stopping times. Quite often found giving more room or carefully braking earlier then what other experienced drivers do.
- "The Interstate Driver" - Thinks every othe driver in Canberra is an iddiot and drives agressivly but defencivly. Takes calculated risks that most other wouldn't and appears to make it through fine almost everytime.
- "Bogan / Country Driver" - Usually found in Utes or large Four Wheel Drives with lots of lights. Utes are often used well and generally seem to be enjoying the drive as opposed to considering it a 'chore'.
- "The Driver Needing to get somewhere" - Uses a car simply to get somewhere, I found only one driver in the entire time I was there to be this, and he was an Asian in a toyota Corolla, that wasn't 'customised'. Appeared to be safe enough and genuinly wanting to get somewhere without breaking laws.
- "Bus Driver" - Often pushy to meet schedules. Best to let busses go first in any situation where it is legal too and does not cause disruption to traffic. Rarely stops or slows unless requirted by law or at a bus stop.
- "Taxi Driver" - Psychotic, often insanely fast and knows roads very well.
- "Motorbike Rider" - Quite often defensive as other drivers appear to try to run the moff the road. Rarely seen accelerating fast and appear to be nice enough people (parituclarly harley riders).
So thats my stereotyping of Canberra Drivers in Belconnen between 4pm and 6pm yesterday. Of course, I understand that most drivers are a cross-breed of those things, but of course, there has to be really.
Anyways, I best be off, I have things to consider and plenty to think about and try and do.
