Pedicure @ MindSay
Hurray for the Little Things! Update to Musings and Ramblings
- I don't have to work tomorrow after all! Yaaay! I actually get a day off! I'm going to use this day off to get a much needed pedicure. The talons have been hidden inside thick socks and closed-toe shoes. Sandal season will be here soon so they have to get back into tip-top shape. Since I will be wearing silver sandals to the auction on Friday, a pedicure is imparative!
- I feel a little better about the body image issue. After I went shopping for accessories and shoes for the dress, I felt better about what I was wearing for some reason. I still haven't found that super duper, industrial strength, titanium girdle, but I'm sure I'll find something that will suffice. When "the husband" came home and saw me in the ensemble, he almost attacked me. Only the presence of the kiddo prevented him from pouncing! :P I guess that means I didn't look too shabby.
- Keenu and LadyShirea warned me about those 35 mph winds this morning. I hadn't been outside yet so I had no idea! In addition to the ridiculous 40° drop in temperature we woke up to, we had to deal with the wind beating our asses and pushing against our cars. Thank goodness this weave is in tight! Braids were whipping around my head and slapping me in the face. I looked like a damned Gorgon!
- No Josie and Jayme, the title of the post was not a veiled reference to the thing you two were laughing at earlier. I wouldn't exactly cheer about that. Lament maybe, but not cheer. (You girls are terrible!)
More Musings and Ramblings
- I finally got my
talonsfeet and toes done. I was afraid the poor woman would have to use a sander! I forgot how uncomfortable pedicures can be. First, there's the shame of having someone touch your unsightly meat hooks. Then -- at least for me, I have to surpress the urge to giggle and squirm because it tickles when the woman scrubs the bottom of my feet. Anyway, for all that it's worth, I feel much prettier.
- I had a day off and I am tired as hell. I think it is because I stayed up late last night. I am going to have to stick to an 11:00 or 11:30 bedtime because I feel like I've been drugged with chloroform. I actually purchased some DHEA today. I used it after I had the kiddo and it helped a lot.
- I feel that a certain someone really needs to talk to his pastor or a good friend. There is so much anger spilling out of him that he's picking fights with anyone who will engage him in a conversation on here.
- Any thoughts on last night's performances from the men of American Idol? Who do you think did well? Who do you think is going home? Who do you think the judges judged unfairly? Personally, I think David A. is a fantastic singer, but I'm tired of all of the hype he gets. He should be good. He won Star Search for crying outloud!
my fingers are finally okay
it has been more than a week since i took off my acrylics and now i can finally touch things without wincing. if ever i say i want to get my nails done again, please remind me of this pain and convince me to get press ons instead LOL honestly, this is some kind of ridiculous. i think i am going to stick to cute little pedicures when i can afford them.
in other news my nephew is here and i couldn't be happier.
i havent wanted to drink any wine in like 3 days... which is something.
pray for my dad's eyes. he had surgery on them for cataracts and is having a few subsequent complications.
and i leave you with one of my favorite morbid songs:

Relaxing and errands and groomers and pain
I decided it was time to get the furkids groomed. My sister left me a set of clippers that need repairing, but I just can't deal with trying to groom two very active fuzz-faces. I dropped them off at 10 and warned the lady that my Little Blonde is quite a PITA. She put "screamer" on her card! LOL! Apparently she was a good girl and didn't make noise until they pulled her ear hairs. I can't fault her for that. I doubt I'd like it very much... if I had ear hair.
No visit to the gym on Wed because there were 3 million cars in the parking lot. The gym is in a strip mall sort of shopping center and parking is limited anyway. I had no idea the place would be packed at 7PM. So, I got in 30 min of cardio treadmill work done. I had thought to go in tomorrow and get some more treadmill time, but after the pains of this evening, I'm having second thoughts.
I wandered over to Staples to see if they had any decent shredders. They did, but the larger ones were quite expensive. As in well over $100. Eep!
Costco was my next hope for a shredder. I got the same model as the last one. Maybe I shouldn't since the old one kinda died. It doesn't want to shred because it thinks the drawer isn't in. I couldn't wait any longer. I have tons and tons of statements and bills that need to be disposed of. I had Costco pizza for lunch with some non-fat frozen yogurt. It was so nice to get to eat pizza again. I dearly love pizza and have missed it over these weeks of yuckness.
Off to the salon to get a manicure/pedicure. The little Asian lady did a nice job.. It's a shame I messed my fingernails up when I got home. But it was nice to have some pampering after all this stress, trauma and worry about what's up with my innerds. My hands are painted in a bright fuschia. My toes are a bright red with little flowers leaves and vines.
It was finally time to pick up the kids and they looked pretty glad to see me. Little faces staring intentely at me from a wire cage across the room. They look much better and smell nice, too! I had no idea people take their dogs in every two weeks to get groomed. Wow! That would get expensive. Once every other month seems fine to me. I can bathe them and brush them, but the clipping, trimming and such are just too much.
While on the way home from the groomers, I started getting some pretty bad pains in my mid-right abdomen. By the time I got home and got the kids out of their travel kennel, the pains were coming swift and getting worse. It got to the point where I couldn't stand up, couldn't lie down and could sit sit kinda hunched over. No deep breaths, no talking, just grunts here and there. At one point I nearly called my Dr, but since it was after 5, I figured he'd tell me to go to Urgent Care or something (it's in my head, remember?). The pains were getting my anxiety to ramp up, so I took a klonopin and it knocked me out. A couple of hours later and I was feeling much better. Still a bit crampy, but at least I can sit straight again. Unfortunately, I screwed up my nail polish but getting it mashed into my hair somehow. Oh well, it prolly won't last long, anyway.

Lest I always complain
I had been scheduled to get a massage on Fri, but had to resched. when she had a date with some legal stuff she had to do instead. So, I got to have my massage yesterday. It was lovely. *sigh* I'm a bit sore in spots. She did all kinds of work on my head and neck. You never realize how many muscles you have all around your skull until someone who's trained to find them.... does!
My toes were looking particularly awful. Ugly remains of purple nail polish here and there. So, I decided it would be good to stop and have a pedicure. My massage therapist recommended a new place, so I decided to try them out. The lady was pretty good. Much, much better than the last nail technician I had. She did a fine job and she got real happy about the color I chose. It is a lovely shade, if I do say so myself. LOL
Combine that afternoon with the lovely evening I had with hubby, yesterday was a lovely day. I just wish I'd had a manicure while I was there....
