It's here.
"A Charlie Brown Christmas" is on ABC right now.

It's official. Christmas is here.

All I need now are "A Garfield Christmas Special," "How the Grinch Stole Christmas,"* "Pluto's Christmas Tree," and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer." Oh, and "A Muppet Christmas Carol," and "Mickey's Christmas Carol."

*ETA: Thanks, ABC. You've knocked one off the list.

Peanuts

Sometimes I give Joey snacks to eat in the car if we are going to be on the road for long periods of time.  Peanuts are a recent favorite, so I put about 1/2 cup of nuts into a snack size zippy bag, buckled Joey in the car, gave him his nuts and headed to school to pick up the big kids.  Almost immediately after the kids were in the car Joey started screaming.  Now, he is a bit spoiled and the big kids tease him, so I waited a few moments, then asked the kid sitting next to him what he was screaming about.  She said that he was screaming because he was picking his nose and couldn't get the booger out.  He vehemantly argued the point, so I asked Mary to check on him.  At that point, she discovered that he had a peanut stuck up his nose.  I pulled over, to check this out.  After about 3 minutes, I finally got the peanut out of his nose, and he kept stating over and over, "I'm all right, I'm all right"  so I got back into the car, and pulled onto the road, cause I had to get the oldest one, Gus, to work.  No sooner had I pulled onto the road, then he started creaming again.  "Joey, what is the matter now?" I asked him.

His response was pricesless.

My Sarah

Keeps getting better and better. Ugh! Sarah, my 4 month old, had an allergy profile done Friday. She has a severe case of eczema and we thought maybe she was allergic to milk...nope...PEANUTS. The doc office is gonna call me back to see if we need to have her do a more extensive allergy profile, this only tested for common things...milk, wheat, peanuts, mold, dust mites, pet dander...that kind of stuff....

Anyone wanna share a personal experience with dealing with a child allergic to peanuts?

security
I remember the dinner parties my family went to when I was younger...How my sisters and I would play all night with our friends and tumble into the car under a sky of waning stars.  The moon followed us on the way home, and our heads would nod and we'd fall asleep in the back seat, slumped in a comforting pile against each other.  Heads on shoulders as the world sped by.

Charlie Brown said it best:

Security is when you’re a little kid and you’ve been somewhere with your parents and it’s night, and you’re riding home in the car, and you can sleep in the back seat.

You don’t have to worry about anything. Your parents are in the front seat, and they do all the worrying. They take care of everything.

But it doesn’t last. Suddenly you’re grown up and it can never be that way again…

I miss being in the back seat of the car.
