Passports @ MindSay
That's what my family did all afternon... tried to rene them because apparently you need one to be able to go to Greece. Who knew? It was quite a time but then we ended up going to eat at Olive Garden for dinner and any day you go to Olive Garden just has to be a good day. Then, I got home and worked with my dad on college applications for over three hours, and I just now got free. Goodness, that was a fun time! (the sarcasm's kicking in).
Last night, I went over to Matt's and we watched a Jack Black movie called Nacho something or other, and it was not that great of a movie but we had a nice time. He's amazing.
Tomorrow will be filled with lots of college application work, which will be a ton of fun, let me tell you.
I have more deep thoughts to share, but unfortunately I think I'm nearly brain-dead tonight so I need to get to bed sometime soon.
My daughter and I applied for our passports today. I thought I was so on the ball. I filled out the applications in advance, made sure I had birth certs for both of us, and other documents if needed. Since my daughter is a minor I made sure my hubbie could slip away from work so he could sign the paperwork. All we needed were pictures and we would be set. Since I had to drag my husband out of work during the middle of the day I decided to go to the downtown Clerk of Court office. Ok, I picked today to do this because my daughter had a half day of school, and while we had the afternoon free I decided to take her for her flu shot. The joys of being organized and getting stuff done, woohoo. Well, her flu shot was a nightmare (which I've documented on her blog) and by the time we were done with that, my makeup and hair was a mess, and she was all blotchy and boogery. What a pair! Now, let's go get our pictures taken and then down to Daddy's office! Luckily, it was a bit of a drive, and by the time we got to the photo studio to get our passport pictures taken my daughter appeared presentable. I've got to describe this photo studio to you. Imagine...Fred Sanford's junk yard turned into a photo studio (and if you're so young you don't get my Sanford & Son reference then bite me). I mean the photogragher was nice and professional, but the atmosphere was tres trash. Truly, I didn't give a hoot, as long as I got the pictures done. Twenty bucks and 5 minutes later we had our pictures in hand and we were out of there. We pick up Daddy and in a hop, skip and a jump we were at the Clerk of Court office. No line, few peeps already waiting, it looked promising. Stepped right up to the desk, nice young lady asked if we have completed apps and docs and...checks. WTF! Who uses checks anymore!?! Apparently, the US Dept. of State. One quick trip to our nearest bank and we have our checks. Back to the old Clerk's office, where I politely hand over our completed paperwork, and then I'm told what every government employee learns the first day of training, "Please wait until your name is called." Amazingly, we waited less than 15 minutes. I mean my daughter barely just finished the lollipop she got at the bank, it was that quick. Ah yes, sometimes the system does work. I probably shouldn't have said that since I still have yet to physically receive the passports. Oh well, since it was a positive post maybe the karmic gods will shine down on me :)
