So...I had to post this.

I recently was chatting with my sister, tattooedjen, about my recent exposure to Amy Winehouses latest song, Rehab, and how much I liked it.

Anytime I come across certian types of music I like that are Motown, Blues, or Funk, I always pass it along to my Uncle and his wife, and they usually like it too.

So, I used YouTube's e-mail function to send the song link to them.  I mistakenly typed their e-mail address as @yahoo.com instead of @aol.com, which is the correct domain.

I get a message back from a stranger about getting the song, but not sure if they knew me since they know people with my name and my wife's name, but not a couple.  I responded with a simple apology and wished them a good day.

Today, I got this response and I felt kinda bad for her.  I thought I'd post it up here and see if anyone might have some insight for this person.

No, I am Cmccord. I have no idea how many names I've created just fuckin around. You got the right person. I only started using this website to heal some wounds and I am having a horrible time trying to contact 2 people who have had an enormous impact on my life personally, because I knew them for many years and emotionally because I hurt for reasons that they understand. Both are musicians. Both are incredible people that I want to speak to with all my heart.

First is Scot Coogan. Drummer for Brides of Destruction. I saw him last 8 years ago and his father is the last one I talked to. Truly my soul mate!

Second goes much deeper. It's Phil Anselmo from Pantera. I grew up with these guys and I have a lot of sorrow built up over what happened and for some reason I can't quit worrying about Phil. I can't find him. I could wander the streets of New Orleans but where would I really get? I want nothing more than to sit and listen to a certain band in silence. He would understand.

I have tried everythng I know to find them. If you are an expert at this website and have any suggestions, I can't tell you in words how much it would mean to me.

This is really hard and a lot to ask, but thank you for writing back.

Who are the forefathers of metal as we know it today? To answer this question one must ponder what true metal really is? VH1 wants you to believe that bands such as Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith paved the way for today's metal gods with their "oooh" and "ahhh" lyrics and undistorted sound. If a band is inpired by the likes of Aerosmith, should they really be considered part of the metal genre, no matter how far it continues to expand? Do metal bands really play at the MTV music awards? Do true metal bands really wrap scarves around their mic-stand? To me metal is defined by bone-chilling, heart-wrenching, pulse intensifying guitar riffs in standard or drop tuning combined with throaty, screaming lyrics and growls about death, dishonor, payback, retribution, war, religion, and the like, not about girls and love - unless of course we are referring to certain songs by Cannibal Corpse and Pantera. To the first-time and experienced listener alike, true metal (including underground, black metal, pagan metal, dark metal, death metal, extreme metal, gothic metal, grindcore, hardcore, heavy metal, metalcore, sludge metal, speed/thrash metal, viking metal, and the like) should conjure "a new level of confidence and power", not something that I have experienced while listening to Stone Sour. Metal should make you want to reach out and decapitate someone.

 

In my mind, the forefathers of Metal (bands formed pre-1990) are:

 

BLACK SABBATH

SLAYER

CANNIBAL CORPSE

IRON MAIDEN

JUDAS PRIEST

Okay- so life has been extremely good the past few weeks.

I've met the most awesome guy ever and I'm enjoying all the little, cute things people enjoy when they just start off with a relationship- like the constant messages and butterfly-inducing kisses and all that stuff! He plays for a heavy metal band and works in a video store- thats all he does??! And it doesn't bother me- because for some or other reason- his lack of ambition turns me on. It could probably be because I'm used to dating all these really ambitious guys.. I mean- you have to vary your taste sometimes don't you?

 

We got together over Easter-weekend- there was a party at his house- and although I've known him for quite a while, I only realized the chemistry between us was ridiculously high when we started pouring the vodka.. why does vodka always do weird things to you? But it's cool- I love talking to this guy. Thats like all we do.We go to Zeplins and headbang ourselves into a stupor on Pantera or Dimmu Borgir or we watch stupid episodes of Metalocalypse at his house. It seriously is so simple- but yet so great!!

 

I have to start revising for my exams which are coming up in a month.. I'm already stressing. I just can't seem to concentrate for more than 2 seconds at once. My mind is just one huge whirlwind.

 

I have to leave now,need to go for driving lessons (yes, I got my learner's permit!). So Im driving up and down in our neighbourhood's main street, trying to alternate my co-ordination between the clutch and the gas.. I'm all hard-core!!

I attended this concert in hawaii

I'm a hardcore fan, and after watching that, I can't sleep.  Memories of being a teenager and actually growing up are flooding my mind right now.   Now I'm thinking about life in general.  Anyways, if there is anyone else out there who can't sleep....or wants to talk about...
