Paintings @ MindSay
The first painting is done in watercolor and it is called "Special Home Delivery". The second is one I am currently working on. It is also done in acrylic and is called "Memories of Freedom". My niece took the photo of the leopard at the St. Louis Zoo. The next work is done in graphite of a rose from my garden. The fourth one is an acrylic painting I did of my daughter-in-law with my grand daughter, called "Carrie and Lydia". The final one is done in watercolor and is called "When Harry met Sally". I love working in acrylics, watercolor, and graphite. I hope that you enjoy looking at my work and would love to hear from anyone about my work.
So, I'm into painting now. above are 2 pictures i painted today..the first one just got finished an hour ago, the second I finished around 1:30 this morning. The First one says "Thank you for fixing me" and is a picture of a broken heart stiched up while the needle has a huge amount of blood flowing from it (yea, i messed up on that part). The second one says "Cleanse the Soul" and has a heart with blood in it (meant that it is geting rid of the bad memories).
What do you guys think of them?

I'm happy to report that I have created more Fairy Godmothers! Yes. You heard me. The crazy characters I first blogged about a year and a half or so ago have multiplied! And they aren't going away anytime soon. Eventually these lil' fairies will become an affirmational card deck for the queer in all of us. Each character will have its own name and special powers. Guess which ones have what:
See? I have been very productive lately. I have more art to post, but give me some time. There's a lot I want to write about, too. Oh, and here are the original six Fairy Godmothers (for those of you who don't want to click on the link above). Haven't they gotten even better? I think I want to do up to a hundred. Make the deck a collectable. Yeah. But first gotta find a publisher... anyone suggest one for me?
I have a blog about gift giving and many times I receive email from people asking for help. Most people have a hard time buying a gift for a person that they claim "has everything". It's safe to assume this person has the ability to buy whatever they want and need. That's when creativity comes into play.
One gift that is always welcomed by almost everyone are pictures or canvas paintings that have been professionally framed. People love to see pictures of themselves, loved ones, pet portraits, special events or favorite vacation spots on display. These are great for home of office. Being surrounded by the people, places and things you love brings comfort.
What if you want to give the unforgettable portrait?
There is a website that can help you turn that special picture into a family heirloom. PaintYourLife.com helps you turn pictures into beautiful works of art.
How can PaintYourLife.com do this?
Getting your picture turned into a work of art on canvas is easy. All you have to do is upload your photo or send in the hardcopy to the appropriate address. The next step is choosing the type and size. The artists specialize in different styles and mediums (oil, charcoal, pastel, etc). They choose the most suitable one for your picture. After that, you pay a 20% advance payment. They accept all major credit cards. For those of you that are ebay sellers or paid bloggers....there is good news. They also accept PAYPAL. You know I love that!
Once the piece is completed, it is inspected. What happens if it doesn't meet the quality standards of the company? The assignment is sent back for modification or given to another artist to repaint. When the painting is ready, a photo of it will be uploaded to the site for your review. You will receive an email confirmation for notification. On your approval of the piece, the remaining 80% of the balance is due. After payment is remitted, your painting will be shipped in a tube or framed. It is sent by express delivery.
These works of arts are perfect gifts for:
anniversaries
birthdays
family reunions
mother's day
father's day
christmas, hanukkah
or any special event!

You have a passion? a out of the ordinary interest?
I just came from the blog of myclette where she has posted pics of her ROCKS! SHE rocks! It's common to see pics of pets of just about every variety, as we travel through mindsayville, too. I've always sort of envied people who had a hobby and have tried several, from coin collecting (my dad's passion) to stamps to old books.
Lighthouses hold a special fascination to me. I don't know if it's the romantic mystique attached to the lore of the lighthouse, or the proximity to water that attracts me, but ... there it is. For years and years, I have had a mental imprint of a lighthouse at the base of a rugged cliff with rough surf splashing up against it. At age 12, I painted it - I'm not master! but my dad hung it is his office over his desk!
I went to college in Wenham Massachusetts ... right down the road from Rockport MA. During my school years, I bought a roll of canvas (like everyone else in Rockport) and some acrylics and painted ... mostly absolute JUNK! trust me! But there was something about the "moods" of the surf that ministered to me, and the lighthouses stand sentry.
I do not have tons of lighthouses all over my home. I do have several paintings of lighthouses, a few pics of those I've had occasion to visit, and one on my front sidewalk that is actually a beacon in the night (a solar light - lol). However, the big project on the horizon is to transform my home into a lighthouse. Yup! At present it is an A-frame with a high front porch ... 4 pillars that will one day soon be black and white striped. I guess I'm waiting till my kids leave ... but I expect my son will continue with me until he marries! lol It's OK - he can help!
So ... what is YOUR avocational passion?
