While taking time away from work to eat my lunch, I played some Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow on the DS. One of the great things about this Castlevania game (and Aria of Sorrow) is that it takes place many years in the future. You wouldn't notice any difference because you are in Dracula's castle the entire time. Dracula apparently hasn't gotten the place wired for cable yet.
There are little additions that clue you in that this isn't your old-time castlevania game. One such clue is the ablility to use a gun. The gun isn't very good, but it is quick. Unlike your swords and axes, the gun always does the same amount of damage despite how much you raise your strength. So there isn't really much use for the gun as your main weapon.
The other great feature of C:DoS is that at a push of button you can switch between two different equipment settings. So you can weild a spear and by pushing the X button, you are now weilding a combat knife. It is pretty sweet.
My hero weilds a slow but devestating axe, but for those quick kills... he pulls out his gat! There is nothing better then to chop with the axe, then finish with a bullet to the head.
I love this game!
