Obama/Osama
Typo at CNN.com huge story: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070102/ap_en_tv/tv_cnn_obama_goof

At yahoo, as of right now, there is no option to rate the article.  I never have encountered this at yahoo.  Usually I don't even like rating articles.  My rating would be 5/5.  I love stuff like this.

We are in a religious war and most of us don't know it.

We are in a religious war and most of us don't know it.

It was 1987!

At a lecture the other  day they were playing an old news video of Lt.Col. Oliver North testifying at the Iran-Contra hearings during the Reagan Administration. There was Ollie in front of God and country getting the third degree, but what he said was stunning!
He was being drilled by a senator; "Did you not recently spend close to $60,000 for a home security system?"
Ollie replied, "Yes, I did, Sir."
The senator continued, trying to get a laugh out of the audience, "Isn't that just a little excessive?" "No, sir," continued Ollie.
"No? And why not?" the senator asked.
"Because the lives of my family and I were threatened, sir."
"Threatened? By whom?" the senator questioned.
"By a terrorist, sir" Ollie answered.
"Terrorist? What terrorist could possibly scare you that much?"

"His name is Osama bin Laden, sir" Ollie replied.

At this point the senator tried to repeat the name, but couldn't pronounce it, which most people back then probably couldn't. A couple of people laughed at the attempt. Then the senator continued. Why are you so afraid of this man?" the senator asked.
"Because, sir, he is the most evil person alive that I know of", Ollie answered.

"And what do you recommend we do about him?" asked the senator.

"Well, sir, if it was up to me, I would recommend that an assassin team be formed to eliminate him and his men from the face of the earth."
The senator disagreed with this approach, and that was all that was shown of the clip.

By the way, that senator was Al Gore!

Also:
Terrorist pilot Mohammad Atta blew up a bus in
Israel in 1986. The Israelis captured, tried and imprisoned him. As part of the Oslo agreement with the Palestinians in 1993, Israel had to agree to release so-called "political prisoners."
However, the Israelis would not release any with blood on their hands. The American President at the time, Bill Clinton, and his Secretary of State, Warren Christopher, "insisted" that all prisoners be released.

Thus Mohammad Atta was freed and eventually thanked the US by flying an airplane into Tower One of the World Trade Center. This was reported by many of the American TV networks at the time that the terrorists were first identified.
It was censored in the US from all later reports.

If you agree that the American public should be made aware of this fact, pass this on.

(no subject)

My wife and I went on a late afternoon walk today. Beautiful weather. Before we headed back to our apartment, we sat down on a bench to take a short rest. A young man acted as if he wanted to sit down, so my wife gestured to him that it was ok. He was eating some seeds from a paper bag and offered us some--a friendly gesture, to be sure. His English was almost non-existent, and our Hebrew is almost non-existent, but we tried to communicate anyway. As we talked, we learned that he's a Muslim, whose home is in Bethlehem. He works in one of the markets in the city, selling fruit. About ten minutes into the conversation, he brought up Osama bin laden and George Bush--that's about all I could understand.  I didn't know what he was saying about these two men. I had no idea how to respond, since communication was such a struggle. All I said was, "Yes. They're looking for Osama bin laden." The fact that he brought up this topic made both of us feel really uncomfortable. We kept trying to communicate for awhile and then my wife spoke up and said that we had to go.  I shook hands with the man, thanked him for sharing his snack and gave him a good-natured pat.
We walked away, not really having a clue about what had just happened. The guy seemed friendly enough. But why did he bring up such a hot topic, only ten minutes into our struggling conversation? Did it affect us? Yes. We glanced over our shoulders two or three times as we walked home to make sure he wasn't following us.
Psalm 32:7 says, "For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble.  You surround me with songs of victory."
You know, I think that the next time we got to the large outdoor market, we should make an effort to find this guy.  The enemy of our souls uses ignorance to cause trouble.  We'll make sure we let this guy know that we are his friends.
