Questioning your beliefs
A very prickly subject for most people. Say something unexpected and most people freak out. This can be regarding religion, politics, sex, family, habits... well, the list grows long. If you say something crazy, most often people will open their eyes wide, raise their brows and say "what?".

There's a pervasive [bad] habit of not questioning your own beliefs. Perhaps most people think you shouldn't do that in the first place. Most notably, it's not uncommon for families and religious groups to implement this tactic. (Second-guess the sacred writings and you'll go to HELL FOREVER!)  On the other hand, for the majority of the people it's rather just a habit. You're making assumptions all the time about what you like or not (because that's how it has always been - custom), or about what you're not willing to do (because it's just WRONG! - morale).

The problem arises when your belief is shaken by a compelling argument or just by pressure. Peer pressure to force you to take drugs or do something you don't want is a good example. If you don't know for sure why you do what you do, you're at risk of crumbling. Furthermore, you're unable to have a discussion about your point of view and unable to understand someone else's perspective, because you lack a perspective yourself.

I say questioning everything is healthy. I'm not saying "doubt everything just because" but "make sure you know why you think the way you do". It's the nature of scientific progress. Heck, it's the backbone of progress, period!

I'm not implying that progress means change. There are matters that have been polished one way or another to the point where little or no change is necessary (this is always an arguable statement). But for the most part, only the ones that have thought through their ideas and beliefs can claim to live a true life. Everyone else is just following them. Nothing wrong with that, if that's what you choose, but did you consciously choose it?

(no subject)
Ephiphanies.  Revelations.

From the information I've gathered by talking to others around mindsay, and watching Will and Grace.....I have come to this conclusion!:

A male bisexual would be perfect for me.  I know I'm crazy, and you may be thinking I've fallen off my rocker.  lol. really, kidding aside,........ wouldn't they be a very balanced personality?  A good healthy amount of sensitivity, testosterone, an open mind, nice arms,  ;).. and so on.  Who knew that bi-sexuals were the more evolved species of mankind??

I hope this doesn't come off as completely ignorant and disrespectful, because that's not my intention.  I'm just thinking of possibilities!!! :)

Grace would find her perfect man in Will if he did go both ways.  Of course he would have to stay monogamous for it to be perfect.

I may be queer in the other sense, but I am a totally straight female desperately wanting to find decency in the male population. but I keep ending up with player types that aren't relationship material or the opposite, ....a good guy with no sparks going on.

Anyways, enough with my silly ideas.  I am going to get some dinner, clean my room, watch some tv and go to bed at a normal hour.  This sleep apnea is slowly killing me and I just found out recently about it.

If you have any of these:

tend to snore
wake up in the middle of the night a lot
have insomnia
are really exhausted in the morning/tired during the day
tend to always feel deprived of sleep,
have a lot of vivid dreams/nightmares,
experience lots of headaches and migraines,
tend to feel congested or asthmatic when on your back,

.....sleep apnea might be a culprit.  It's worth checking out.  And a sleep study is quite interesting ....it tells you fascinating statistics on how you sleep.  I am hoping the treatment for my sleep apnea will improve my life like it has for others.

It's something you don't think about, but is so fundamental, if you can't breathe well during sleep, it'll cause such an array of problems including heart issues from the exertion of having to function on low oxygen, sleep deprivation, interrupted REM which is when reparation of the body at the cellular level occurs, and the obvious.  hey maybe there will be no more 3 am ponderings from me if my treatment does work!

hope everyone has a good night :)

What's wrong with Brokeback Mountain? Geez people, calm down!
I keep seeing political cartoons that rip Brokeback Moutain and I think to myself, 'these people need to be more open-minded and less rigid with their standards.' It's two cowboys doing the dirty; what the hell is wrong with that? They're just human, like you and me, so stop acting so high-strung and prissy. It's very annoying to see close-minded asswipes attack this great film. I say,'Deal with it; it's what some men do.' Maybe if people were nicer I wouldn't have to post this.

I am so disappointed in the human race.
I just read this one person's blog. I swear to the Goddess, she has to be the biggest teenage bible-thumper I've ever had the displeasure to read about. She disses her friends for practicing Wicca! She was excited when one of her friends "quit" Wicca! Yeah, that right there is open-minded. I must say, though, that after reading about her friend's... problems, I don't think Wicca is for her anyway. Wicca teaches one to be proud of themselves, proud of their body, mind, and soul and she's not happy with numero uno...

This upsets me. I know everyone has the right to think what they want and I respect that. Everyone's entitled to their opinion; what upsets me is that this person claims to be an open-minded individual, yes she disses Wiccans. I personally don't think that's right.

Then again, not too many people give a damn what I think.

Phht. I'm out before I say something completely unforgiveable.

Random song quote: "You think that only people who are people are the people who look and think like you."

What utter bullshit.

Complaint #194- if I had a dime for everytime you walked away...

I could afford to not give a shit.

I am disgusted by a guy on a message board I write on. I won't give out the URL because I really like that no one I know writes there ( no offense, sometimes it's good to have a debate with people I don't know or just rant ) but it's basically my favourite board. I love most of the people there. There's a "Politics" board on it, and there's this Born-Again American who always, always talks about how wars are justified and he supports Bush and he hates communists and he hates Muslims and he's such a patriot and on and on...
Most people are sick of him. I despise him. I always get into fights with him because we are two extremes. He thinks war has always been justified, I think war is never justified. If a leader has to resort to war, they have failed their citizens. Whatever, I'm not defending myself here.
This guy, I just have had enough of him. I told him he's sick, twisted, close-minded and an asshole. I will accept his views if I can see where he's coming from, he can just never back his opinions. He outright ignores my justifications. I told him that if he replies with a direct remark to me, I will no longer answer him. He's not worth it.

level:  7/10... gonna go watch American History X on IFC (where the cool movies go), I suggest you join me! Sick fuck is not invited.
