Get The Most Out of Every Dollar: Use Coupon Codes!

I'm still waiting for these kids to finish getting ready.  So, let's talk about online shopping vs. store shopping.  Many people don't like to shop online because they don't want to pay shipping and handling charges.  Let's look at this a little closer.  When you go shopping whether to the mall or department store-you spend money.  No, you say.  I beg to differ.  You spend money on things like: gas, meters, tolls, transportation (bus, cab or train), food and the bargain you can't pass up!  Now, add all of that together and compare it to a $5.00 S&H charge....hhmmm makes you think.

Want to save even more shopping online?

There are sites like couponchief.com that specialize in coupon codes.  What are coupon codes?  They are promotional codes you enter on a website during the checkout process that saves you money!  Here's how it works.  Say you want to buy a computer for your college bound child.  You visit couponchief and click on their Dell coupon codes section.  The page will display all the coupon codes available for your purchase.  You choose one and enter it and you save some cash!

The holidays are creeping up!

I suggest you bookmark this site.  Take advantage of the money, time and energy you can save!  Who wants to deal with crowded stores, bulky coats that must be carried, rude sales associates and the endless search for parking?  Here's a solution: start your wishlist now.

Here's mine:

The Chatterbox already asked me for a set of drums for Christmas.

The Comedian asked for an ipod.

The Diva wants Ed Hardy.

The Entrepreneur wants an electric guitar.

The Princess wants toys.

The Little One wants more toys!  Lucky ME!

So, I bookmarked this page.  You can bookmark the site.  By doing this, I'll be able to find them easily.  Ohhh..and some of the sites have made it even easier.....by accepting PAYPAL!  Yay......ME!

Now you know how to use coupon codes.  Be sure to add couponchief.com to your favorites!  They even have coupon codes for vacations-like airlines, luggage and even hotels!

baby not included
A long Easter weekend draws to a close, and, as has been the trend the last few days, I'm stuffed to the gills. cricker81 whipped up a fabulous spread of turkey burgers, strawberry spinach salad and baked potatoes, which I sandwiched between a mimosa appetizer and a coffee chaser. Yesterday's highlight was an Easter brunch potluck with friends, including such dishes as baked apple French toast, hash brown casserole, lemon cream cheese squares and Charlene's pièce de resistance:

I spent the ensuing afternoon and evening barely able to pry my bloated body from the couch, where I Facebooked myself into a stupor. Hooray for laptops!

A couple of recent wedding purchases:

Water-soluble, biodegradable "table confetti" from Ecoparti

Pink light cubes from Magic Wand Weddings

Simpsons-themed bride and groom toasting flutes -- I love you, eBay!

I'm all about the online shopping. Also bought this organic cotton "baby kimono" (baby not included) and matching hat by Parade for my sister, who's due in June:

Wedding preparations continue despite much immigration-related uncertainty. Recent conversations with the US Consulate revealed that my interview for a fiancee Visa to enter the US and get married is as yet unscheduled, but that it will likely be scheduled for the end of May/beginning of June. Given that our wedding is June 9th, there's a very real chance that I won't make it into the country in time for the wedding. Things are also upheaved by the fact that I'm now mostly without employment and will soon be without lodging-- having intended to move to the US May 1st, I put in my notice at work and rented out my room. Life is never dull, that's for damn sure. ;)

[mixed messages, mixed emotions]
I don't know what to believe anymore.

Last week, I placed an online order for a shiny new copy of Castlevania : Portrait of Ruin from Toys "R" Us.  I've been browsing for a nicely priced copy for awhile, and the price here was fair.  The item was listed as "In Stock" and usually shipped in 2-3 business days.  I entered my payment information, Placed my Order, and confidently expected that TRU would send me my new toy in a few days.

A few hours after Placing my Order, I received what I thought would be a confirmation email.  No.  It was an email stating the item I had selected was on back order (or so I interpreted it - they actually said Pre-Order, but the game had been released a week prior.) and would not be shipped out.  Why didn't they say that on their website (which throughout my wait still says the game is available for purchase)?  Fine, I thought, I guess I'll be waiting a bit.

Two nights ago, I got another email from TRU, this one no longer saying my game was on Pre-order - now it was on Back Order and would not be arriving until after the holidays.  Unbelievable!  Hmmm...should I cancel my order?  Visiting my account page on the TRU site, though, I couldn't even find my original order.  Yikes.  Fine, I thought, I've got other games to play - I can wait a bit longer.

Today, I get another email from TRU.  Now they state my game has shipped and UPS slates it as a December 20th delivery.  Maybe their earlier email meant I'd get it sometime after Thanksgiving.  Or Halloween.  Those are holidays, too, and I suppose they didn't really specify which holidays my UPS package would succeed.

Part of me is pleased.  Part of me is skeptical.  Sadly, perhaps, for TRU, I won't be placing any more online orders with them for awhile.  I think they've got some kinks to work out before they reclaim my business.

Save Money Shopping Online

Shoping online has many advantages.  My favorite part of online shopping is not having to stand on long lines induced by slow cashiers and not so merry holiday shoppers.

Seriously, online shoppping is great for a mom like me that is watching a budget.  Why?  Well, everytime I leave the house, I hear...."I'm thirsty".  or  "I'm hungry!"  That tacks on another $20.00 or so bucks to the price of the item.  Then you have the sales you can't pass up.  "It's only $2.00!  That's insane!"  exclaims The Diva.

In America, you also have to factor in the incredibly, exorbitent gas prices.  Add on the twenty laps you have to do round the Shopping Mall to get a parking and you just tacked on $10.00.

Oops, I almost forgot my favorite inconvenience.  The winter coats.  When my youngest was in a stroller, we used to pile the coats on the handle and in the basket.  Now we all have to deal with the coats.  They're cumbersome, annoying to carry and make you too warm.  Translation: Everyone's very irritable.

All of those reasons and many more are why I love online shopping.  Here's the other reason:

COUPON CODES combined with FREE SHIPPING!  That really adds up to some significant savings.

Most of all, if you;re like me: Your Time=Money.  You don't want to waste hours at the mall trying to find parking, standing on lines and dealing with meltdowns from kids that have overheated!

There are many sites that have Online Coupons.  There is one that stands out from the rest.  Why?  It's clean and crisp.  AD FREE!

NCNatural's site is user friendly.  All the coupon codes are alphabetically categorzied by their merchant.  It's straight and to the point.  This is great for people like me that have ADD tendencies.  I can't go on those heavily ad laden sites.  I go on the site for one thing and minutes later, I'm looking at some site and forgot what coupon code I needed/wanted!

Here are two different links for coupon codes I love:

Barnes and Noble

e-bags

Can these sites really save you money?  Of course!  You just enter the correct coupon code during checkout and it's aplied to your balance!

See what I mean?  Well, enjoy if you are off to go shopping in the blogosphere!  Hope you save some money you can put away for a rainy day!
