Nba Finals @ MindSay

At last
Well...NBA finals...Game 6...Celtics vs. Lakers...I was rooting for Boston. I was expecting a game. What I saw was absolute annihilation. 131 to 92.

131...to...92.

I cannot believe what I just saw. The Celtics led by 30 points in the third quarter. My reasonable mind would tell me that's so unlikely it's not even logically possible. And yet, here I sit, having witnessed the impossible.

I've seen Ray Allen play in Seattle, and never felt like it was a good fit. Being in Boston allowed him to step out of the pressures of being the team star, and truly shine in the end.

I heard Powe's inspiring story, and felt true excitement during his breakout game.

I've watched Paul Pierce and his unwavering dedication.

And I know how long Kevin Garnett has been waiting for this day: to rightly claim that he went all the way and become an undeniable champion. Watching him give his on-the-court interview see the utter amazement, shock, joy, emotion and all the long years rushing together in one single night, I have to admit. I teared up a little bit too.

NBA Finals Analysis
Here's something I just read about the Heat vs. Mavs. My prediction is playing out to a T: I thought whichever team in the West got in the finals, they would smoke the East. I was so totally right. The East teams are still playing in a decade-old mode, as if Larry Johnson and John Starks are still around. Lots of defense, physical play, and one-on-one. Meanwhile the West has been rediscovering the way the game was played in the '70s and '80s -- high energy fast breaks, crisp passes to the open man, going hard for rebounds. The Mavs have put an absolute clinic on the Heat, who look stunned. I'm impressed by Dwayne Wade, but man, even he gave up on a play late in the 3rd quarter of game two after missing a layup and a put-back.

The Mavs are showing how easy it is to win if you play a high energy game and have a deep bench. I mean, Antoine Walker and James Posey couldn't even be on the Suns, let alone the Mavs. The Heat looked exhausted last night, like guys in their fourth pickup game. And then the Mavs bring in their eighth man, Marquis Daniels, who's as good as any of the Heat reserves. I mean, look at the Mavs roster:
Mavericks Roster

 2005-06 Roster
NUM PLAYER POS HT WT DOB   FROM YRS
10 Darrell Armstrong G 6-1 180 06/22/1968   Fayetteville State 11
25 Erick Dampier C 6-11 265 07/14/1975   Mississippi State 9
6 Marquis Daniels G 6-6 200 01/07/1981   Auburn 2
7 DeSagana Diop C 7-0 280 01/30/1982   Oak Hill Academy HS (VA) 4
44 Adrian Griffin G-F 6-5 230 07/04/1974   Seton Hall 6
34 Devin Harris G 6-3 185 02/27/1983   Wisconsin 1
5 Josh Howard F 6-7 210 04/28/1980   Wake Forest 2
28 Didier Ilunga-Mbenga C 7-0 245 12/30/1980   Congo 1
41 Dirk Nowitzki - C F 7-0 245 06/19/1978   Germany 7
33 Josh Powell F 6-9 225 01/25/1983   North Carolina State R
42 Jerry Stackhouse G-F 6-6 218 11/05/1974   North Carolina 10
31 Jason Terry G 6-2 180 09/15/1977   Arizona 6
2 Keith Van Horn F 6-10 245 10/23/1975   Utah 8

Other than the aged point guard Darrell Armstrong and two developing players, this team is playing eleven deep, with Griffin and Van Horn the weakest players, both of which would get major minutes on a lower-tier team.

Say what you will about Mark Cuban. Don Nelson couldn't coach a team to an NBA Championship, but he put together a team that's doing just that, with Avery Johnson at the helm. High school coaches are watching the Mavs and wishing their kids would play with as much un-NBA vigor.

NBA FINALS GAME 7: San Antonio Spurs vs. Detroit Pistons...

As good as BOTH teams played, the San Antonio Spurs and the Detroit Pistons, on all four quarters, the game remained intense all throughout Game 7. I screamed until I couldn't scream anymore. I am in a loss for words. All I can think of right now: Great Game Detroit fans. It wasn't easy for this Texas-team fan to watch a great "De-e-e-etroit Basketball played in our home court, as it has got to be some of the most impressive offensive moves I have seen so far. And for a Texas team to go against a great team from Michigan, and win, it's a bit of a shock.

In the history of the NBA Finals, the last time a Game 7 was held was 11 years ago, here in Houston, TX. I think, this has been the closest Game 7, ever. For us, here in Houston, saw Robert Horry just a little different than the way people from San Antonio. We saw "Big Shot Bob" as the Clutch Hero. Tim Duncan, who stepped up big during the second half, changed the course of the game, along with Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker.

That basketball Rob "Big Shot Bob" Horry is holding,
he's probably still holding it until this hour.
(wow, 6 championship rings...)

E-Cards: You can also send your sentiments to the Detroit Pistons fans with E-cards, available at NBA.com! Personally, I wouldn't say such thing to their fans, but I thought these were creatively made. Here are some examples:

Once again, Pistons fans, great game eh? ;)

This entry is dedicated to all the NBA basketball fans in Mindsay, especially the users who used the NBA tag and Spurs fans in Texas and all over the world. This also goes out to the Detroit Pistons fans in Mindsay who believed in their team. And for those who weren't really into NBA basketball but bravely stood up to state their opinion.

But most of all, this is dedicated to andreux , a San Antonian who unfortunately, couldn't be at his home city San Antonio. As far as I know, here in Mindsay, he has rooted for the San Antonio longer than anyone I know, even myself (as a Rockets fan). Must be nice to be rootin for your home team San Antonio eh?

This is callmeroger , posting from Missouri City, TX (Houston Metro). After today, forgive me, as I won't be much of a Spurs fan for next season. I will be rootin' for the Houston Rockets again, to see how better they will be this time around (yes, bellavista said the Houston Rockets suck. I respect her opinion, but that doesn't change the fact that Tracy McGrady made a fan out of me.)

See secondbest92785 's Mindsay Blog for more.

Let this be the last time I do this for this year:
