Alright people. It’s gotten out of hand. It has been out of hand for a VERY long time now. First of all, there is no such thing as political correctness. If something is political, it is already incorrect. Think about it. When was the last time something "political" was correct to everyone involved? Anything in regards to politics is, by its nature, incorrect...if it wasn't incorrect, it wouldn't need to be politicized.
Now, on the issue of labels, the African-American, American-Indian and so on….why aren’t we just Americans? People get up in arms over labels, then insist on having a specific label attached to them. There is no rhyme or reason to it. I walk with cane and probably will for the rest of my life, but that doesn't mean I want people referring to me as "handi-capable" or whatever other nonsensical name they want to hang on me. I am a person. I walk with a cane. The cane has yet to define me. I don't get mad when people try to be "PC" with me about it because I know they mean well, but, please, get over it.
If you want to be politically correct, then you must not have a stand on anything one way or the other. You can’t have an opinion on anything, call anything by any name or stand for anything if you want to be politically correct. This is funny to me since I see politicians trying in their perpetually daft ways to always be politically correct. By affiliating themselves with a party of any kind then they are automatically incorrect to someone, nevermind the shit most of them spew at us.
Someone told me, not too long ago, that it is a matter of what the majority says is correct. Well, history has proven that often times, a majority just means that all of the idiots are on the same side. There were things years ago that were acceptable that aren’t now…has anyone heard of a little blip in history called "slavery"? It wasn’t politically incorrect until the fairly recent past.
Here is a thought. Be respectful of each other as people. Not as races, or as religious affiliates or nationalities, or whatever else we tend to divide ourselves with, but simply as people. Follow that “do unto others” rule. As soon as everyone realizes that there is no such thing as political correctness, the sooner we can actually get rid of the barriers that are keeping us so deeply divided…that and everyone PLEASE stop listening to politicians like they know anything. You will never meet a group of people more oblivious to the human condition than the people in public office.
